Heavan & Hell

This is a much debated question of all people. Many people believe there is a heaven and there is a hell. Quite frankly, few people consider the possiblity that neither might not exist because this state of mind is instilled into the young mind at a very early age.

Therefore I pose the question, is there a heaven and a hell? If so, how would you support your answer without a religious (completely objective) viewpoint?

I'm not sure you can prove that they exist without bringing in a religious viewpoint. I personally believe in Heaven and Hell, though all of my facts and reasoning’s involve my religious views.

On another note though, I think a lot of people, non religious people included, believe that there is a Heaven and Hell simply because they want to believe that there is something to look forward to after you die, weather that be good or bad. If I'm looking at it in a purely scientific viewpoint, once you die that's it, you pretty much stop existing, though I think Einstein proposed that everything turns to energy once it died.

I think this topic should be avoided. I just have an iffy feeling about this.

But to answer the question, I do believe there is a heaven and a hell. Like Cloud, my answer is also heavily supported by my religion. So I can't really say much else. No one can really form a real argument because there's no way of knowing what happens after death. The only way to find out, is to die yourself. That would be pointless considering you can't come back to life after you die.

Ty is right this topic sould probably be avoided but I guess I'll post my opinion anyway.

I personally believe that there is a heaven and a hell, however there really is no way to prove that there is or isn't a heaven or a hell. Like Ty said no one knows if there's really an after life or not simply due to the fact that none of us have died and come back to life.

Well, I think that people worry too much about what's going to happen in our afterlife. Personally, I think there is somewhere to go to, maybe not heaven or hell but somewhere. We can't judge what is going to happen though because the place where we will go will probably be unimaginable because we've never seen it before. Other than that it'll probably be somewhere out of time and space because we can't just "not exist" that's impossible.

Actually if you go by the text book, then once you die that's exactly what happens, you stop exsisting. Though I think it something you should worry about, because forever is a long time, you don't want to get stuk somewhere that sucks. That of course follows along the religion line too.

It's impossible to not exist! Just think of it, how can you not exist? We have to go somewhere. We could even re-incarnate in to an animal or plant, who knows.

How is it impossible? Explain that to me, I don't really understand how it's impossible to just not exsist.

I doubt that reincarnation is even possible, Why? because someone would have done it by now. Coming back as an animal is most certainly not something that I could see happening either, animals don't have souls or spirits. Why I say this? Because animals don't question what's right or wrong, nor do they change their life style. So if a human being came back as an animal, wouldn't that animal have some idea of what they're doing?

@Ty Actually, a lot of people say that your memory of your other life will be erased. Also, animals are different from us, they can't pronounce words like us, they only say and do things in their own language and don't really take interest in humans.

@Cloud If that's so, explain to me how we can not exist. It doesn't really make sense if you think of it.

I’ll just say I don't believe in it either, but for the sake of argument, where does it say that the person doesn't lose part of themselves when they do come back as an animal? Say that part that makes them human.

Well, personally, again, with my religious views I can't really see how you can stop existing. But if you cut out religion, then purely from a scientific stand point there is no evidence to suggest that we do anything but cease to exist.

But where do these people get this idea? And how would they know that the person lost there memory?

I think I was saying that animals are different from humans anyway. But still, it's not very likely you'll see an animal act like a human. I know of birds that can talk so that really doesn't change anything. Even with the birds ability to talk, the species hasn't advanced at all, a bird is still a bird. You don't see a bird opening up a bank account just cause it can talk.

Speaking is only a form of communication, there is a fine line between communicating and communicationg intelligently. (sp?)

I'm not sure how the idea ever came around, or even how one could tell that one was reincarnated...

Well recently I read an article about a man who can communicate with birds, and he can understand what they're saying. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I don't have any more details.
