Silence & Whispers loosely follows the White Wolf canon; where 'loosely' means we are hacking it when we feel like and clarifying it when we think it's needed. Here's a few things that, whatever the manual says, are true in our setting: * Gehenna hasn't happened yet, and it is not expected to come on any established date. Its signs, however, are there for those who can see them, and their meanings are open to interpretation. * Thin Bloods, while more common in recent times, have been around since at least the XX century. Some of them, appearing in the US (of unclear origin), seemed to have prophetic abilities - or at least were plagued with disquieting visions. Some Camarilla Princes went to great lengths to wipe them out. * The "Great Prank" did happen but has never been absolute; Malkavians with Dementation never disappeared from the Camarilla. * While all feuds and massacres happened just like in canon, no bloodline is really extinct and some may be more common than they are supposed to be. * Talking about bloodlines, our Kiasyd are like those of DA20: they're not a single bloodline descending from Marconius, but they're what happens if you Embrace a Changeling and they survive. A Kiasyd may have been Embraced by any lineage and they'll have Mytherceria + two Disciplines of the Sire's clan. Kiasyd Embraced by other Kiasyd exist too and they inherit their Sire's three disciplines. Moreover, while their blood tend to make them reclusive and obsessed with secret knowledge (and if their supernatural appearance happens to be very obvious, that doesn't help your social life either), they have personalities just like anyone and most often than not they -will- get out of their libraries once in a while, as long as hey have a reason to do it. *The "Thirst of Caine", or any need for stronger blood, is not something that automatically happens over time. Unless they have specific flaws, all vampires can drink any blood... with the catch, that as human blood is much more appealing than those of animals, vampire blood is even better, and devouring souls is the ultimate ecstasy. Indeed, in VtM evil tastes good! The need for vampiric blood some Elders seem to display may derive more from alienation and repeated diableries than from the simple passage of time. * And since we're talking about bloody matters - vampires can to some extent infect their vessels with blood-borne disorders... if the infection is especially virulent and the exposure repeated. They aren't, however, really as infectious as used needles - otherwise, to play it consistently and to its consequences, we'd end up with Vampire: the Lazaret. On the other hand, vampires with some unfortunate flaws would be much more at risk... * The True Black Hand has never been a thing, period. The True Brujah are mostly an independent bloodline, too uptight to mix with their brutish cousins. Some of them may harbour a resentment for the destruction of Ilyes, but most are either too logical to blame a Neonate for that, or too apathetic to be interested in such emotional affairs. * There may or may not be an Inconnu, depending what you call by that name. There are indeed Elders who pursue their indecipherable purposes, or simply stay out of the Jyhad, but there's no such a thing as the World Headquarters of Hunedoara. Indeed, in the very unlikely case a character would have heard about the Twelve, it was most likely as a cautionary tale on demons (essentially, we're following Revised on this point). If the name has been used for any cabal in ancient times, it's not something that has any relevance in modern nights. * Of course, the whole "Turin is a cursed land" theme is not canon and the control over some domains may have been changed as the plot (or character's backgrounds) demand. Nizza and Genoa have always been Camarilla; Milan follows the official plotline of Giangaleazzo; Rome is traditionally contended, but mostly Camarilla, and so are most major cities. The Giovanni rule the city of Venice, but once out of the lagoon you can find a variety of sects and influences. Italy is, in its best tradition, quite fractured into small parochial Domains. So, it won't be hard to find a space for any group, if required for a story. |
