Sex, Lies and can you get it up long enough to Videotape?! So you're dead, you're more than dead, you're undead. Some of you are clinging to the last vestiges of your humanity, some of you gave up on that malarky and entirely left it behind. So, 'what does this mean for our libidos?!' I hear you asking! What does this mean when trying to get the 'Blush of Life' into your cheeksies? What does this mean for getting up in good time? You don't have hormones, so that part of your sex drive is gone, and you no longer reproduce via genesis (birth). However, some of you may still enjoy the act out of nostalgia, desire for physical intimacy, bonding, or whatever million other reasons (besides natural urges), that make people so mad about sex. The pleasure of sex itself is far from what it used to be, and pales in comparison to that of feeding. Also, aspects of mortal ties fade rapidly throughout the years, and as you struggle to retain your Humanity, odds are you'll be doing it for other reasons (over horniness) - although, feelings of affection and intimacy could still play a role in the whole equation. If you abandon the last vestiges of humanity, rather than being lost to the beast, you may adopt a new school of thought – move onto other Paths. These Paths are rigorous, as failure to follow their tenants undoubtedly leads to the beast taking over. And, by definition, Paths are utterly inhuman from the get go. This transition into being inhuman usually requires you to toss the trappings of the sheep away, and embrace being the wolf. So, WoD canon dictates that only those on Path of Humanity can give themselves a human-like appearance (a living pallor, a beating heart etc), and can achieve the old 'woo-hoo'. If you're not playing at human, sex just won't be your thing, nor should you care or have any reason to give yourself those soft pink cheeks. In our S&W canon, we agree and disagree. There are a great many Paths, and a great many characters who could be on them - and to say that every vampire seeking a different enlightenment has lost their fondness for sex, or the use of the Blush of Life, just isn't cutting it. They are not just for human-beings, nor for creatures still trying to be one. After all, some paths are all about seduction and pleasure, others manipulation and control – sex is often a tool in those repertoires, along with the ability to pass for human to pursue your inhuman goals. There are, of course, some Paths that will look down on playing-human - but that doesn't mean they aren't doing it. So, on our forum it is allowed. This doesn't mean your characters should be running around humping everything they see just because they can, nor turning pink at every passing stranger - you have to consider carefully whether your character would want sex after being embraced, if being alive for 400 years has dulled that drive, whether their interpretation of their Paths would allow it... and keep in mind that sex for those who are no longer Neonates often times will be more about bonding than getting their rocks off the human way. Also, we're going to get into BP costs in a moment, we want you to keep in mind that vampires replace any and all bodily fluids with blood eventually (read rather quickly). That means sex is going to be a messy and bloody business and, if you're doing it with a human, most definitely a Masquerade breach – You have been warned! So! The Math! For simplicity's sake Blush of Life and the ability to 'do the deed' go hand in hand here, if you've got your heart going to make you look human – you can do the human do. Path of Humanity followers can give themselves the look, feel and function of 'human' at diminishing returns dependent on their Path rating. Humanity rating 8 or higher? You can give yourself an appearance of life for free, whenever you wish - sexing included in the package. Humanity 7? You'll have to spend 1BP. 6? 2BP, etc. etc. etc. At Humanity 4, you can give yourself the Blush of Life (and go hump) for 4BP and this will be the maximum cost, even for those with lower humanity. This also applies to any and all other Path followers regardless to their rating - they will have to spend 4BP. Mimicking human functions implies a more conscious and consistent effort for these vampires - they'd need a good reason to do it, even with another vampire, because the illusion of life is something they gave up with their humanity. Those with the 'Baby Face' merit, and on Humanity, can get it going for free, baby-faced alternative Path followers can get jiggy with it as though they are on high humanity, at a 2BP cost. And finally! Sleep! No, not sleeping with someone, but sleeping and rising and trying to function when the Sun is up! We're applying a 'the higher on your Path the earlier you rise' rule to all characters. The more control over the Beast you have, the better you are at rising. At Humanity OR Path rating of 7, you wake up exactly at sunset. For each point higher or lower, you gain or lose roughly 15 minutes. The higher your Path rating the more functional you will be if you are awoken forcefully, or after you tried to stay awake during the day. However, beware! Acting during daytime hours, even with a high Path rating, is quite challenging and you should not be doing it without a strong reason. No kind of rating or bonus will save you from the bane of the sun! - Roofie, Anti-Fun Methuselah & Featherstone |
