Information
What Server will this be played on? PTR, or Public Test Realm Server. Download Link. Unzip and run Starcraft.exe. Prior installation of Starcraft Brood War is not required.
What is the format of this tournament? LayoutRandomized, 16 Player, 8 Team, 2v2, Double-Elimination Tournament. There will be a Championship Bracket and a Losers' Bracket. Each of the 8 teams will start in the Championship Bracket and any loss in it will automatically send that team to the Losers' Bracket. Losing a match in the Losers' Bracket will eliminate your team from the tournament (hence the term Double-Elimination). The Grand Finals will be a series between the overall winner of the Championship Bracket and the overall winner of the Losers' Bracket respectively. Due to the nature of this format, losing in the Championship Bracket will allow your team another chance to compete in the Grand Finals! The Grand Finals is a series between the overall winning team of the Championship Bracket and the Losers' Bracket respectively. The Championship Bracket team must only win one game to become the Overall Champion. On the other hand, the Losers' Bracket team must win two games to be declared the Overall Champion. TeamsTeams will be selected through a randomization process. Before the tournament, all eligible & registered 16 Snipers will be randomized into 8 teams with RANDOM.ORG. The randomization process will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube prior to the tourrnament.
What will the bracket be like? The bracket will be a live and real-time bracket using Challonge. During the tournament the link to the bracket will be posted in Op Sniper by me which you will use as a reference to find out who you are playing. The bracket will be updated live after each Session. It is recommended to keep the online bracket open in a web browser during the tournament. My partner has left in the middle of the tournament, can I have a substitution? If your partner left after a match you may bring in a substitution player who can be anyone from Battle.net. He or she does not have to be formally registered and approved by the league admin. Players who have been eliminated from the tournament may qualify. Any player still active in the tournament may not substitute for another player until he or she becomes eliminated.
Any subsequent match by your team will be considered an exhibition match and it is up to the sole discretion of the opposing team to choose whether or not to play it. If the opposing team chooses to accept the exhibition match, any stats accumulated by your team is invalid. Stats accumulated by the official active team will count towards their stats at the end of the tournament. The opposing team will receive a WIN and be able to advance through the tournament, regardless of whether or not they choose to have the exhibition match or if they WIN or LOSE by accepting the exhibition match.
Date, Time, Location? Date and TimeThe time of this tournament is entirely dependent on everyone's availability. Before a sniper is eligible to compete, he or she must vote on a time sheet. The time that receives a total of 16 votes will be chosen as the official time. LocationPublic Test Realm, or PTR. In OP SNIPER. How long will the tournament lastApproximately 2 Hours and 30 Minutes
Game Rules 1. No Hacking 2. No Cheating 3. No Griefing 4. No Lagging 5. Have Fun! Hacking: Using any third-party program with the sole intent to gain an unfair advantage over your opponent. Restricted programs are the hacks we all know today: Sniper Assist (SA), Map Hack (MH), Mini Map Hack (MMH), Latency Hack (LH), Resolution Hack, Sniper's ToolKit, and AutoIt. Any multi-hack program that includes any of the latter hacks mentioned including, but not limited to: Real-Time Ownage Hack (RTOH), Apocalypse, and Oblivion. ZERO-TOLERANCE policy for hacking. If I or any other player find out you are cheating with unquestionable proof, you will be banned indefinitely from all Sniper Skirmishes. Cheating: The violation of any established Sniper rule including: Camping, Sitting, Griefing, Team Killing (on purpose), and Falling Back.
- Camping: Being present at enemy respawn point (turrets) within enemy ghost range lacking the intent to capture the flag. The intent to capture the flag is defined as using ones own professional judgment to grab the flag and leave the enemy base in a timely manner. Being within enemy respawn range for longer than necessary to gain an unfair advantage in points is considered camping. This will be up the discretion of the league admin
- Sitting: Any final judgment by me will be up to my own professional judgment on the issue. Sitting can generally be defined as gaining an unfair advantage over your opponent by waiting for an extended and overly unnecessary amount of time on your side of the map.
Waiting in one corner or blind area for 3 Full Vision cycles (Vision Cycle ~ 4-5 Seconds) on your side of the map when there is a clear and unobjectionable path of clearing ahead of you is considered a sit.
Waiting in base vision for an over-extended amount of time in a manner that is unnecessary and significantly slows down the pace of the game is illegal. However, waiting in base vision in anticipation of incoming enemy snipers rushing into your base is allowed. Again, the league admin will use his professional judgment in each case and the final decision will be up to him.
Each and every sniper MUST display a will or desire to progress through the map and capture the flag AT ALL TIMES. Having an extended lead over your adversary, and then deciding to sit near your base vision or sit as defined by the definitions above is an example of griefing (defined below) and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- Griefing: Trolling the game by refusing to play the game objective. Common examples include spamming the game, cliffing repeatedly, greeding non-stop, and team-killing. This will be up the discretion of the league admin
- Team Killing: Self-explanatory, killing your own teammate is an example of griefing and trolling the game and is not tolerable in this tournament. Team Killing at the end of the game to rid your teammate of the flag when the clock runs to 0 is an example of griefing and is not tolerable. This will be up to the discretion of myself.
- Fall-back: A sniper that passes mid-way point of the entire map and then decides to fall back to or near his or her base before any opposing sniper reaches his or her base vision is considered a fall back and is an unfair advantage over your adversary. A fall back is similar to a sit in that it displays an unnecessary will to drastically slow down the pace of the game when there is a clear and unobjectionable path of clearing ahead of you instead.
No Lagging: If a sniper is lagging to an extent that is unbearable to be played in properly, each team may have the option of leaving the game and remaking it to try again and see if the lag subsides. After the remake, if the lag is still unbearable, the team that is not lagging may choose to leave the match and the team with the lagging player will be disqualified. Each team gets one retry per ROUND (or match). Again, lag has to be so severe to the point that the game is excruciatingly unbearable and hinders any snipers ability to play properly. Occasional (as in once every real-time minute) lag spikes does not constitute as "unbearable lag" and any player that leaves abruptly due to this will have his team disqualified from the tournament.
General Rules 1. No channel spamming 2. No public flaming or cheat/hack accusations will be tolerated. If you wish to flame, take it elsewhere. If you wish to accuse someone of hacks, notify the League Admin. 3. Observers may not be allowed in any match unless you are pre-approved by the League Admin. Any observer discovered will be disqualified from the next Skirmish
