Ever see the movie "Enemy of the State"? Well, that is exactly what we have here now. Anyones line can be tapped legally. Our privacy is gone. I would believe that everything in that movie is probably true. All officials are crooked and bastards. The passing of The Patriot Act was one of the darkest days of our country. |

Quote 1: "If you have nothing to hide, why are you so upset?" Quote 2: "This is a violation of our PRIVACY!" Anybody can only follow one quote. And only one. Personally, I don't mind. I WOULD like to see greater control over this, but I don't mind it. |

Sure you don't mind now. However, for people who don't like the see the Consitution dumbed down more and more under this Presidency, this is a huge setback. People who don't really know any better won't mind, but that's the problem. People don't realize that all these rights are guaranteed for us in the Constitution, written long ago never to be tampered with. Of course, you can ammend it, but that is a long and delicate process. Now, with the threat of supposed terror, we are losing less and less of constitutional rights, and pretty soon the Bill of Rights will just be just a novelty. Bush breaks laws, lies, slanders other politicians and is frightenly immoral. He likes to invent quotes from Democratic officials, and loves to generalize their party ambitions like he knows what he's talking about. Our president is looking more like a dictator every single day. And the sad thing about the Patriot act is how many Senators didn't even read the bill before approving it. The least thing these pompous senators can do is their job, especially regarding such an important act as the Patriot Act. Good thing the Federal Court didn't pass all sections, but regardless a huge setback. Now all that's needed for search warrants and seizures of property and tapping of phone lines is "reasonable neccesity", and the owner doesn't even have to be notified. Of course, since I'm just a legal alien, this doesn't even apply to me. They can do whatever the fuck they want to me, and I can't even complain. :) |

Have you considered the alternative? I don't think you understand how many plots are uncovered that the general public has no knowledge of. |

the PA has many pros and cons. Question is though, does the cons outweigh the pros?

I realize that it has benefits... and that's always good, and truly, if you didn't do anything wrong, it should be fine, but to me, just the invasion of privacy... doesn't sit well, w/e.. |

To what degree does the problem have to be for the government to "tap phones" or whatever.. My friend all freaked out cuz he thought his phone was tapped. His phone was making this weird noise everytime he picked up or called someone. He sells weed so he was like I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT when i called him. I told him he's dumb and they can't tap your phone without a warrant.... is that right?? |

this Act was passed in October 26 2001 NOT in 2006-2007-, not only can the Diff Agenices (CIA,FBI,NSA,local law enforment ) tap your phone they can look up e-mail communications, medical, financial and other records;this also eases restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States this is for terrorism. i find it funny .......that this act was passed right after 9-11-01 , i know peeps think it was passed to help FIND terrorists blah..bah..blah.. idk I just believe this circles around one thing and thats NWO (NEW WORLD ORDER) mb off subject... too make everyone feel better .Since its passage, several legal challenges have been brought against the act, and Federal courts have ruled that a number of provisions are unconstitutional theres good and there bad ;) |

It's almost an offset form of facism lol...but on the positive side, they probably do get catch a lot of potentially bad situations and stop them. Has anyone seen the movie Eagle Eye? |

Wait, and you do understand? Do you have inside knowledge of how many plots are uncovered? I thought the general public wasn't aware of this. Do you not consider yourself part of the general public? |
