Well you just said that it would only take a few years. It's highly improbable we would detect any incoming earthbound asteroids soon enough to be able to do anything effective to stop it. That's if we even detect it at all.

Wait, what are we talking about here?

Exactly that, if an asteroid or were to come speeding towards the earth then we would be able to pull something together and at least make an effort to save earth.

I change my mind, we weren't talking about Armageddon, we were talking about why cars wont get past 50 MPG even as a Hybrid.

To get back on the subject....

Lets say the Russians strategically destroyed the arab oil wouldnt be depend on them for oil. . .

I think the Russians have power over us.

I think its a good idea. i hope they take all the oil in that area so the terrorists cant fund any attacks.

Russia has no more power over us then we have over them. For the most part, we are nearly equal in technology.

The technology is already out there to get cars going at a hundred or more miles per gallon. Engineers and auto mechanics have come up with engine add ons to get the most gas mileage possible. . .

No doubt we have that technology. If you were making millions and millions of dollars per month due to oil would you really switch to a more efficient fuel and lose all that money? People are greedy guys... that wouldn't do something like that unless they absolutely had to.

The Russians are not much of a threat these days i believe, the rumours going around are China mobilizing, but then again.. it could be fake.
