If you're a shit stick and you haven't been watching the news, then you need to do so right now. The particular news I'm referring to is the Civil War in the Gaza strip at the moment, involving the two factions Hamas and Fatah, which are supposedly representatives of the Palestinian people. Hamas is basically a Terrorist organization that happens to have a political face as well. The problem with Hamas is that it continually refuses to adknowledge Israel as a sovereign state, and also is not keen on abandoning it's terrorist wing. In case Hamas loses a popular election, which it most definately does, it can always resort to terror to realize their ambitions. Hamas, as you well know, is responsible for many terror attacks against Israel over the past years. Fatah, the lesser of two evils, which has tried continuingly to create a unified Palestinian government in the Gaza to very little avail, is getting dominated. What's going on now is that Hamas has abandoned any desire for peace, and has resorted to violence to forceably control what's left of the Gaza strip by systematically killing and taking over key Fatah installations. It was never a contest anyway. Fatah was weak from lack of funding and aid from the western powers. Hamas on the other hand is being actively funded by Iran and Syria. They are better equipped and better armed. So Fatah has basically lost control over the Gaza, and now I wonder what will happen next. With Hamas in total control of the Gaza, you can bet that their intentions against Israel are less than peaceful. Syria has declared that on the event that Israel were to make any sort of military move in the Gaza, it would promptly attack Israel. An attack on Israel would be war for the United States, and then Iran would jump into the fray on the side of the Syrians. Basically what we have here is a huge probability for war that will break out of the confines of the Gaza and possible consume the Middle East. This isn't some distant possibility, some remote conflict that won't affect us. This is real. Can I remind you that Iran is actively training and funding terrorists in Iraq, which in turn are killing our soldiers on a daily basis. Iran has camps in Iraq which are training insurgents who are willing to fight against the Americans.Iran is indirectly staging a war against our country in Iraq through shadowy and clandestine actions. Iran is also actively pursuing nuclear technology, which I sincerely believe they will use in a hostile manner. They aren't very subtle about their ambitions either. The president has stated repeatedly that Israel should be "...wiped off the face of the Earth." So I guess my question is this. Should we continue to allow Iran to fund our enemies, fund the enemies of Israel and the U.K., build up a weaponry of a nuclear nature, repeatedly refuse to halt their nuclear program, take hostages for ambiguous and arbitrary reasons, among much else? Where's the line guys? |

I doubt an attack on Isreal from Syria or Iran will draw America into it troop wise, Isreal has one of the world's best trained and built militaries, who have repelled Muslim states for decades. The line has been passed, but the rest of the world would rather apease them much the same way they did Hitler leading into World War 2, this action does not work. A military move against Iran would bring a hostile reply from the American people, but also in their best interest. Also, any move against Iran would bring more Muslim states into the War, so its a lose lose situtation, there will be war between many countries, either way. |

Is there seriously noone with an opinion on this? Don't be lazy guys, I understand if you don't know anything about the situation but a few of you flunkies have to have watched CNN or something SOMETIME. This is interesting stuff. As for B, yes. Israel has an excellent military force that crushed the coalition of hostile muslim states in the 7 day war in 1987? However, you're forgetting that the rules have changed, and Hamas has never played by any sort of rules except their own. They control Gaza at the moment, while Fatah controls the West Bank. Neither is conceding their power, and both are trying to rule a Palestinian population numbering in the millions who from two seperate locations. It's impossible. One faction is bound to make a move to seize the other's land. And Syria has already stated that if Israel makes a military move of any sort, it will strike. I might be misinformed on this so let me know if I'm wrong about that. |

As for Gaza, Israel pulled out its forces back in 1994, with sporadic breaches on their pact not to reseize it. West Bank, nope, Israelis are still there. Now here's an interesting question which I've asked many times. What is with Bush's sudden love of diplomacy? I think his trigger happy self is feeling the pressure of a nation getting sick of his bullshit Dude, are you following the election compaign? What do you consider yourself as? Personally, I'm all for John Edwards. He's got a name like a president, he looks like a president, Democrat, and for socializing healthcare and ending the war in Iraq. And he's not a blubbering idiot. I think that Bush is selling this war in Iraq now based on patriotism, so that if you don't support the war, you aren't an American. I say fuck that. I'm all for a war that's in the name of our country's independece and prosperity, not for a war that pretty much only benefits some fat corporate CEO's. |

I don't claim any specific party, i vote for whom i feel can do the best job, or as in last election, a lesser of two evils if you will. With classes and what not i don't get much time to watch the news, but as the election date approaches, i'll keep more in tune with it. From what i've seen Edwards is a solid choice, but we'll watch how things unfold. As for ending the war in iraq, it all depends how he does it, if he abbruptly ends it, that will just end everything we're strived for over the years, people want to blame this war completely on Bush, but many forget their congressmen voted to keep it going. If he begins a slow and steady withdrawal, that'll be the best road in my opinion. |

America likes to blame everything on bush.. even hurricane Katrina at which Bush had no power over. In any case, they should just make a whole new-New Orleans instead of rebuilding it the way it was before because it would be much much cheaper in the long run; a hurricane Will hit there again. I don't know shit about politics...hell i can't remember the last time i tuned 2 the news x.X; but w/e, these are my thoughts. I can't say for us to pull back... i want them to keep them terrorists over there instead of them being over here and cause another 9/11. Heres a little story. In Brooklyn, New York City, about one week before 9/11, a student at New Utrecht High School pointed at the World Trade Center and said to his teacher, “Look at those two buildings. They won’t be here next week.” The Pakistani kid and his family disappeared a few days later. I want them to control the damn terrorists who ever they may be. As far as I know the bad guys are losing thousands/millions of $$$ because were over there; the best way to end a country/war is to deplete all of there $$$. In the future I predict that 1: there will be a WW3, not any time soon give or take 100 years or more because a war wont start unless a retard sells heavy duty technology to the wrong person. And 2: some how we can by-past that mess and the big peeps like Russia and China and everyone else in between would put greed aside and do whats right. |
