Do you lean towards the left or right? Post which, and then feel free to say why you are what you are, and bag on the other side :-p.

Personally, I lean towards the right.

I ignore the "left" and the "right" and make up my mind based on the issues, not what I'm supposed to think based on my party or political leanings.

This is exactly why the U.S. Congress sucks so much right now.

Well do you prefer strict interpretation of the constitution, or loose interpretation?

I prefer loose interpretation. The world has changed far too much in 250 years for the forefathers to account for details, thus their inclusion of the elastic clause and expectation that the government would be competent enough to create just laws in the nature as they intended the country to be run. Some hope...

I prefer strict interpretation. The federal government is just too strong. They have gotten this way through such things as the general wellfare clause, the commerce clause, and the elastic clause. The constitution gives the federal government limited powers, but through loose interpretation, the government is violating the constitution. Loose interpreters use "To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper" which is the elastic clause, but the sentence doesn't end with "proper." Rather, the entire sentence is "To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof." The "foregoing Powers" mentioned, are those listed in Article 1 Section 8. Many of the bills passed in congress violate the constitution and state's rights because of those clauses.

Fuck government.

I hate how the U.S. is ran by both parties because neither care about the country only about the position of power and the money that comes from it. Conservatives want to keep as much money to themselves as they can and the Democrats want to tax the shit out of people to fund programs they want to run.

Either way you go both suck and aren't worth a shit, none of them give a damn about us and all of them could die in an instant and I wouldn't care.

Also, fuck Hilary Clinton. I hate that woman with a passion and would LOVE to be able to move out of this country if that worthless excuse for a woman got office.

Just curious StranD, what are your reasons for hating her?

Personally, I'm more of a moderate. FaZ- has the right ideas, instead of voting for someone or following a particular idea just because of the party you're affiliated with, why not give a little to both sides? Seriously, if you sacrifice something you think may be a good idea just because of what most people in your party think, who are you REALLY screwing?

people dont just vote for their party affiliation anymore
they vote for the person and what he/she stands for
party loyalties arent as strong as they used to be

They are still far too strong. The fact that we have two parties is a sad reflection on our government.

Suckers. Enjoy your two party dictatorship. I'll enjoy my choices of THREE major parties. And I could always vote green party.. I guess..

I'm actually really left. Conservatives fucked up Canada, and the States is already fucked up. Hopefully we can re-elect the NDP fast enough to fix us.

How did conservatives screw up Canada? Liberals are the ones that would want the free health care and stuff... then again I must be wrong, so set me straight please.

Exactly, Liberals want free health care, social services ect. That's what I want. Conservatives are putting money into the military, giving tax breaks to corporations, cutting services ect. I don't agree with it. I would like to see more money put into social services.

The Tories favour lower taxes, which I dont mind. A smaller government and more power to the provinces so less federal gov't intervention. They have quite a tough stance on law and order issues and are keen to spend some money on the military, which is good.

Im from Calgary, I think you can guess which party I voted for.

I'm pretty sure that in past societies where the government has done things like free health care and other free things, the society eventually broke down... I don't think that has happened since the technological age began though, so it may have no effect any more.... we'll just have to wait and see.
