Yea, same here.

Wow tho... State workers only making 6.55 is pretty sad, I bet they will be having riots :) that's always cool. I think around here if you get a job with the state your making pretty decent money + benefits and all that stuff :/.

Do you know if State Troopers will be effected any by this? I know they are already being effected by gas prices. My friend moved there a few months ago and she got into academy. Sucks for her :(

Governator cuz Arnold Schwarzenegger (AKA The Terminator) is the governor of California. Thus, Governator.

Also the CA minimum wage is around 8 bucks...they lowered state worker jobs to the FEDERAL minimum wage temporarily, until the new budget is passed. It's instead of not paying anyone anything at all which is technically what the California constitution requires, but Federal Law conflicts with the constitution so they decided to handle it in this way. Hopefully the retarded ass dem legislature will get their act together and pass just one budget on time some day. God forbid a fiscally responsible one.

Late budgets cause massive overspending and mismanagement of resources...which the state of CA really doesnt have in the first place right now. The whole predictament is stupid and couldve been completely avoidable.

To my knowledge, they are affected by the temporary pay cuts..but i know for sure none of them are being laid off. And they recieve all they back-payed wages once the new budget is implemented.

The excecutive order has possible excemptions that can be made by each secretary of the departments which is due in by tomorrow. Also: If youre job was truly necesary to the functioning of the state government, just have your boss email the secretary of your department. Ipso facto, exempted.

Ya, they actually are filing an appeal for exemption right now so until a final word on that is determined I can continue working my normal hours but at minimun age just like everyone else. Ya even I was making a good 5 bucks over their federal minimum wage, can't pay rent, bills, and food with that... not to mention the gas I pay to get to work... meh. But those people who are retired annuitants, temporary workers (such as myself), and some part time workers, are officially being laid off for the time being but their bosses can rehire them as soon as the budget is passed. None of those people will be compensated for the hours they missed work, only those who are currently working at the minimum wage will be compensated once the budget is passed.... so I'm pretty much screwed if I'm not exempt still lol... sigh load of crap......

Already said that i thought ^^

Credit unions are offering their customers who have been affected by the order interest FREE loans for the time being. Any chance youre a member of Golden 1? (It's the only one i know for sure is doing it cuz they sent me a thing in the mail)

If that isn't the case...then just get a new job for the time being..Youre better off working at CA minimum wage anyways.

And IMO its incredibly necessary to do this. The legislature needs to get its act together and now at least theyll have some pressure to do so. Grim future ahead for CA if they keep this bullspit up. I personally blame, among many other things, Term Limits.
