I know that this has already been voted on and everything, but I'm not sure how the decisions were made or who was on the "board" to put forth the nominees.

If everyone wants to, I think it would be a good idea to pick back up with this. I don't know if it was such a good idea to put so many people into the HOF at once... I think it should be a bit harder to get in -_-. At the rate this was going if you induct 2 people into the hall of fame EVERY month you'll have way too many people. This should be spread out... maybe one person every 3 months?

Basically, I just don't think what is there now is an accurate depiction of a Hall of Fame. Maybe not so much those who are in it now [not sure if you can really change that], as the nominees that were chosen for the following month.

If possible we could put together a committee based on the replies here. Maybe someone could suggest a person they think knows a lot about the community and if a lot of follow-up is behind that person then he can go on the committee? Once a solid committee is put together then a system for selecting nominees and inductees can be put forth.

I might just be one person and I know my opinion doesn't really mean much, but can someone please explain who ES-ForeShadow is and what did he do? And why are ALL the map makers on there? Most didn't come up with original ideas... If anything, maybe the original map maker should be there???

I'm just throwing out ideas ::burnt::

I have to agree KLiT. From what I see only a few people on that list deserve to be there. Also, I think getting in should not be as simple as choose from (A B C or D). Perhaps a method like "choose from the following and a minimum of 25+ votes to be inducted". If it is meant to be a prestigious award, then the requirements to be inducted should be strict.

ES-ForeShadow introduced bald gameplay, with the help of (I believe) ES-Elite. Along with that, he helped me create the anti-minimaphack, and was the first to put a working lock-only on a standard sniper map, shortly after Speedball, and long before Vague or Raynor did so. His map had the option between walks and locks. He also created a very complex and efficient anti-camp system, but that never caught on. On top of that, he was the leader of the first and longest lasting Sniper clan. 3oD still has another year or two to go before they top ES-.

Only Twip- rivals him for the most influential sniper ever, in my mind.

We don't know who the original mapmaker is. If we did, I'm sure he would be there, but I've researched that exact question for years and I don't have much more of a clue than everyone else. No one has a crystal maps anymore except me and people that got it from me, that I've ever talked to, and the one that I have is nameless.

All of the big changes in Snipers mapmaking have already been long since been made, so necessarily such people should be the inductees into the Hall of Fame. If you are proposing adding people based on skill, that's a hugely separate thing.

I agree people who've helped the game oftentimes get overlooked by the people who're the best at playing it, but it's not necessarily a bad thing for the skilled people to be on there. I think influence is overlooked and undervalued, but skill is just as important.

EDIT: Also, there's that "Master List" thing. It seems like Mav just kind of threw it together, but it could be good.
