I was always wondering how hard it is for an emo to get a job. Seriously, there is discrimination, and I can't really picture them working anywhere besides a fast food drive thru. So Xploited if you care to explain, not trying to discriminate in any way. You see all older adults that look normal, I have yet to see an old emo guy working at an office or something. Maybe the emo age is too new era still. Do you like grow out of it or what?

If you are going for it, you might as well go all the way. Join the Marines. The Army is the easy way and is for people who aren't tough enough for the Marines.
This just proves you know nothing at all about the Military. Special forces and fucking delta force > any marine squad out there. While the army is a year overseas, it all depends on what unit you get sent to. Most units deploy once every 3-4 years. My unit gets deployed every other year.
i'd take Marine Corps Recon over Delta force :|
Marine Corps, known for their tough attitude Brotherhood, willingness to never give up, regardless of the odds,
Its our history, its our legacy.
No short cuts, Semper fi do or die.
Plus everyone knows ARMY stands for
Aint Ready to be a Marine Yet

Lol Lol...
MFR is a good way to go though.
Hat's off to them.
Navy Seals / other SPECFOR commands call on them to save their asses...

This is true. Joining the Marine Corps is like getting a shot of pure confidence with a needle. Unfortunately, they're also known for their arrogancy, bigotry, and general piss-poor attitude toward anyone lower than them (which they believe to be practically everyone, except maybe the SEALs). There are some good Marines out there, though.

No offense but Delta Force is just as good as the best Marine squad.

Of course the "elite" teams of every branch are as good as Marines, but the Marines have the longest, roughest training course.

That's why most of my friends say I won't be able to be a Marine. They just don't think about the fact that there are always special cases that exclude people from generalizations. My demeanor will stay mostly the same. I may get a bit more confident, but not overly arrogant (I'm pretty shy and modest, so I have room to grow). And I'm a very sympathetic person. I doubt that will change as well. Also I'm a bit more chivalrous than most guys. If anything, that will become an even bigger attribute of mine. So all-in-all, I just want to emphasize your last sentence. [:

I live in San Diego. It's nearly impossible to go out in public and not see a Marine. I know very well the stereotypical Marine, and unfortunately, there are more than I'd prefer.

@Blinds: What branch?

Oh and as for which type of squad is best among all branches, I don't think anyone can say accurately, unless they have personal experiences with all of them, whether it be observing or partaking in.

To be honest, it's not that any other training is harder, it's the mindset you have going into the situation and the mindset you keep. Anything is easy if you have the right mindset. Now when it comes to the fucking elites, they are practically the same in every category. YOu may not want to believe it, but it is true. Every group has one trait in which the specialize the most in. The seals are the best in water, the marines are best in hand to hand combat, and the army might be the best in shooting, not going to be definitive there. Take it as you will, without one of those groups there, our whole army suffers tremendously.

I was at the Marine recruiting station some time last year, and I was interested in joining for a short time. The Marine recruiter was telling me what badasses they all were, and what fuckups the Army people were. He was talking about how the Marines went into Iraq on the first wave and owned everything, and then they pulled out and sent the Army in to clean up and keep the peace. And then they fucked up and now we're back in there again. And it's like… motherfucker, the Army and Marines are on the same goddamn side. The Army has like, close to one million soldiers. The Marines have like 300,000. Without the Army, our country would be fucked. It's a war, and if you honestly expected to defeat guerilla fighters in three months, then you and your branch are fucking retards.

That pretty much turned me off on the Marines. I know they're not all like that, but first impressions do matter, and I didn't want to say that guy recruited me.

He was referring to the capture of cities, and bases set up.
