Listen here, this game is by far NOT DEAD. We all just sit here and talk like it is because everyone has jobs and "lives" and all these other things that essentially push us and everyone else away from this game, for example: shit talking, and most importantly.. HACKING. Everyone also leaves because of boredom and the like, I say fuck that shit, it's only boring because we are making it boring. I've noticed first hand that this game is so damn boring because we all just conform (I am one of the few who set themselves apart from those who choose to stoop to those peoples levels) to everyone else's strategies for example: I'm gonna sit because I THINK he is, once this happens the game quickly just gets ruined and off we go to another game only to get into the game and deal with a problem of similar proportions and the end result is: shit talking, boredom, and most importantly wasted time. Another thing I've noticed is that once somebody just so happens to do really good because their game is on and their focus is tight, that once they start dominating the game, the person who's on the losing side just cannot take it like a man and accept the fact that player is on a role and is playing to win decides to leave the game in spite of the good player. These are just a few things on my mind that need changing there is more but I don't delve deeper into that subject because you are all already aware of that situation. In my opinion this game could live on for as long as we all see fit, so long as the community comes together as one and decides it so. As you've all clearly noticed people who have "quit" have started to come back, all they need are keys. I'm sure some of you including myself (I haven't tested most of them yet) can supply these keys and bring these guys back in this game. If we all just come together and get off our asses and actually pursue this, we can bring this game back to the way it was. All we need to do is just gather everyone who's been active on the forums and create a big discussion on how and when this major change in the sniper development can and WILL take place. I know you guys who will be reading may or may not agree but for those of you who just brush this aside.. I ask you to just take this in and actually think hard about this. We can take this game to its original level of greatness and bring it back to the way it once was, all it takes it some work and dedication on EVERYONE'S part. A big discussion with everybody will promote change and more ideas as to how we will change the face of this game and bring it back to its original purpose: Competition and Fun. I know you all don't really want to see this game go just like that, I say we give it one more shot, a big one in attempt to breathe life back to this and get everyone returning to this awesome game variant we call "Snipers". This has lasted for 10 years and still kicking, barely. It is possible, I know it is, you ALL know it is, it's just a matter on how and when this can happen I want to see this game return to what it once was when everyone was at their peak of performance, clans were full, tournaments were everywhere, so many people were online at all times of the day and night you could get a game anytime you logged on, games filled at the very second you created them, the games list was just full of "Snipers!!!" games.. these are just some of the things I want to see come back to this game and with all of your help we can do this, I'm sure of it. I expect a lot of feedback from you guys, you all enjoy this game I know you can all come together when required and set aside your differences and make the ultimate choice: Death or New Life? It's your decision. I've made mine and I say we bring this game back to the way it should be. |

Yeah, I agree with the shit talking part: people need to grow up or at least hold back on certain assumptions. The hacking will always be there, but then again there are some players that will always beat the hackers. Sure we had fun times on this game and some pretty "wtf" moments, but I think it's time for a change of/in the map. I say someone bust out new terrain. I know Rob has had a few but I don't think he ever released it; he had like lava and snow landscapes which were pretty interesting. Blind snipers was pretty interesting, too. Other than the lock/angle/blind/glitch/whatever I think something new should be implemented like items. For example, Player A kills ITEM(egg, mineral chunk, etc.) which results in _________. I was thinking three classes of items: time modifiers, point modifiers, and unit modifiers. Time modifiers would be along the lines of +X seconds or -X seconds -- we all had those games where we lost by a few points, so why not create an item that adds or subtracts time. Point modifiers don't need to be explained. Unit modifiers would be slowing down units, temporary auto attack, teleport/switch players around the map, hallucination, turning off vis, disabling flag, etc. Obviously the only issue is balancing. At the moment I can only think of placing a random item randomly every 5 minutes on the map, or maybe like an option to use items at a certain time. Then again I don't think anyone is willing to add these elements. |

Very interesting, Brendan. You're in luck, I've already made a map with completely new terrain but its kind of been brushed aside because people at that time weren't subject to change, and probably still aren't. It's more spaced out and angle heavy, a pros map if you will. I can do my best to bring more and more maps to the table but that's just one man doing what an entire community should be doing as well, I mean we all have great ideas for new maps because most of us have played from its birth to its dying breath and with all that time put in comes ideas upon ideas that can be used to benefit us all in the time to come, that is if we are all ready to start working on this AND NOT GIVE UP HALF WAY THROUGH. Your Items idea is astounding, I really like that and I will start talking to a few people on how to implement that into the game (maybe) and develop your idea into something we can use to positively change the way we play. |

I came on about 5x in the last week, It took 15 min to find a game, in those 5 times I had 3 people on, I finally find a game and its way too easy, the game is pretty well dead. Sorry. Edited by Sniper, Thu Dec 17, 2009 6:45 pm.

The boredom factor is still running free, we just need to change up the game and make people aware that we are doing so, new maps, new ideas, new players actually being taught properly and not half ass'd, this game can slowly return to how it once was, just with more newer players reaching higher peaks in terms of skill and some old schoolers who choose to remain as mentors and regular players. 777avericK raised a good point a month or so ago, he said that there's a chance for this game to gain a small but much needed boost and that is to make some new clans and I agree with that. Look at Clan 1S1K that was run by KLiT and Xtreme (I think Xtreme not too sure), but anyways that clan was based off a branch of 3oD for new comers to learn and pursue the game, it yielded success and brought forth new strong players into the game. If we can manage to pull that off once more that will bring even more players and make them strong competition for time to come. It can be done it's just a matter of doing and not procrastinating to where it eventually never gets done. I am actually willing to start a clan.. similar to what I was just saying about Klits clan. I can do the same and if anybody is down to do that, just PM me and we can discuss it further from there. |

I've had those ideas for a long time; I just never wanted to mess around with the map because I didn't understand most of the switches + I didn't want to ruin the anti-hack(at that time). Plus, even if I did edit with SCMDraft2, it would have bothered me to re-do a lot. More ideas hatched, now that I've mentioned SCMDraft2, like a shop. Source of income? Money, flags, killing random things. Where's the shop? Resize the map, center the original 64x64 in the center and put shops (like BattleCraft with different civs) on the perimenter of the map. Once again, game balance is an issue and possible interference with current EUDs; but that's what testers are for, to find exploits and cheap strategies in the map so the production may eventually come clean. I'm willing to work on a new map or implement these ideas. |

Well, a shop isn't what I had in mind, I was thinking more along the lines of having those random mineral chunks vespene orbs etc in random spots all over the map.. power-ups if you will. Once you shoot those orbs/chunks you gain a certain power for a short amount of time.. maybe perhaps enough time to flag which would be about 20 seconds from top to bottom of the map "Starcraft time". |
