-RULES & SHIT- 1. You can confer with each other, but you must directly PM me your answer to the major decision (the orange one). Other people should not know what you're choosing to do, or it may influence their decision. 2. The answer to the minor decisions (the yellow ones) should be posted in reply to this chapter below. 3. Don't be a boring cunt and just pick every obvious safe option. I mean... you can do that, but I'd actually be more inclined to find a way to kill you that way. 4. Don't be offended by how you're portrayed. I know most of you won't be, but I felt the need to say this anyway. It's all just fun. 5. Joey will not die first because he is black. He will die first because he is gay. 6. Read everyone's arcs and chapters, not just your own! I'll know if you do this, cos I'll sneak shit into other people's chapters that you wouldn't otherwise know about the story. Anyway, let's go like. CHAPTER 7 THE PART WHERE THE GANG SPLIT UP AND LOOK FOR CLUES! "NIG! DON'T DO THIS!" Hale shouts, but it's helpless, the words go through one ear and out of the other. Nig continues to reach out towards Rachel, his eyes desperate. Rachel herself trembles with fear, the glass below her cracking further and further the more she sits on it, ready to plunge her into the abyss below. Hale watched as Nig's grip loosened around the bench, unable to comprehend what he was doing. He was risking his life for Rachel! The destroyer of the Lime! The girl who threatened to hack them both and ruin their lives! How on earth could he have fallen for her like he has done? What happened in the time Hale left the party, to the point he met up with them both again? It disgusted Hale to see Nig put his own life on the line just for hers. It's something he certainly wouldn't do. "Grab my hand!" yells Nig, "I've got you!" Nig stretches his hand out as far as he can towards Rachel. She reaches out with her own hand, being careful not to shift her weight too much, as not to break the glass below her. Their finger tips touch, and Nig gives a frightened smile, as her grip is so close. Then, the glass shatters. Rachel screams as she falls through the glass, but with a roar, Nig reaches out and grabs her hand tightly. As he does so, his own grip around the bench slips, and Nig is yanked backwards out of the cable car window, his hand helplessly reaching for something that isn't there. Until Hale grabs it. A. Help Nig save Rachel. + 3 to Brave + 1 to Relationship with Nig "FUCK!" Hale screams, as the weight of Nig and Rachel weighs him down, causing him to grip the bench tightly. Nig looks up at Hale, both thankful and shocked at the sudden rescue. Hale looks down at Nig, his face red with exhaustion. - Dyldo looks over at Goldie, her knuckles white as she clutches the cable car tightly, hanging on for dear life. The shotgun meanwhile teeters back and forth, ready to slip at any moment. "Dylan!" Goldie shouts. And it's decided. Dyldo knows that he can't leave her. He runs over to where Goldie hangs on, extending his hand towards her. Goldie reaches up and takes it, and Dyldo heaves her with all his might, pulling back onto the roof of the cable car. Goldie lays next to him, and gives him a smile. "Thanks." she utters. "Don't mention it." Dyldo replies. A. Save Goldie + 2 to Brave + 3 to relationship with Goldie Goldie's eyes widen as she looks over Dyldo's shoulder. "The shotgun!" she shouts, "Get the shotgun!" Dyldo turns around to see the shotgun still in place. He gets to his feet and runs towards it, as he sees it slowly teeter over the edge. He jumps down, sliding all way over to it, his hand reaching out to grab it. But as his finger tips touch it, the shotgun is gone. "Shit!" he shouts. He turns to see Goldie holding her stomach again, as she tries to get back to her feet. The cable car shakes more, almost knocking them both back over again. The pair look at each other, and realise they need to take action now. "Let's go!" shouts Goldie, as she positions herself to look at the mountain side. "You first!" replies Dyldo. Goldie looks at Dyldo gratefully, before she looks back at the mountain. She takes a deep breath, before she sets off running towards it, leaping through the air as she reaches the end of the cable car. She extends her hands, and grabs the side of the cliff as she scrapes against it brutally. She bottles up a cry of pain, as she is able to get footing. From her position on the mountain, she turns back to look at Dyldo. The cable car shakes again. "Come on!" she yells, "Quickly!" Dyldo prepares himself, before he hears voices below him. He looks down through the open doorway of the cable car, to see Hale, holding onto Nig, who in turn holds onto Rachel. "Hale!" he shouts, causing Hale to begrudgingly look upwards, his face redder than Lesnar's. "What are you doing!?" asks Goldie. "Hale and Nig are still in the cable car!" he shouts back, "We need to-" And the cable car trembles again, knocking Dyldo backwards, and causing Hale to have to grip tighter to the bench. The weight of Nig and Rachel continue to work on his arm, making it feel as though his joints are coming out of their sockets. He's not sure how much longer he can hold them. "Dylan!" Goldie shouts, "It's gonna fall!" Dyldo is on his feet, and he can feel the cable car slowly moving backwards, slipping out of it's position on the side of the mountain. He takes one last look at Hale inside the cable car, as he realises that saving him, Nig, and Rachel is a last cause, before he runs and jumps from the cable car as well. Then, the cable car juts wildly backwards, before soaring up in the air, as it comes loose off of the side of the cliff. Dyldo slams into the side of the mountain, holding on with his one good hand, as he watches the cable car fall into the fog below. Rachel and Nig are thrown back into the cable car through the open window, as Hale is thrown with them against the back wall of the cable car. The three of them scream, helpless to watch as the cable car slides down the side of the cliff like a sled. Sparks fly left and right on either side of the windows to them, as the metal grinds against the rock, and the cable car picks up speed. As soon as Hale thinks that they can't get any faster, the cable car stop suddenly, hitting something, and throwing all three of them forward. Into blackness. ------------ Herman can feel his blood oozing out of his neck, warming the puddle he layed in, but only slightly. His vision fogs further black the longer he lay there, the darkness above him twisting and swirling, becoming different splodges of colour. Herman looks up at the vibrant colours, awestruck, as he reaches out towards them. The colours change, instead becoming spotlights swirling around above him, shining down on him. Fireworks of various colours explode on either side of him, as the applause of a crowd sing through his ear drums. He turns on the spot, to find himself on a stage, and only a ramp away from him, stands a wrestling ring. All of a sudden, appearing almost out of thin air, in two single file lines down either side of the ramp, stands a string of incredibly attractive and scantilly dressed Japanese girls. They scream and shout various words of support, but in a strange foreign language that Herman couldn't quite think what could be, as they wave him down to the ring. Instead of walking, Herman feels himself start to float down the ramp, like they do in the cartoons when they get a whiff of bacon being cooked or something of the sort. Before he knows it, he's inside the ring, the roar of the crowd on his side. He can hear them chanting his name, holding up signs with Scottish flags on them, and wearing masks that resembled his own face. In his corner, Herman notices, rooting him on, is none other than Brian Kendrick himself. He is stood on the apron waving his fist in the air, a big smile on his face, yelling 'GO HERMAN!'. Herman couldn't believe it. This was the life. He was glad he'd found a way off that mountain so he could be here now, doing this. What does Herman do? A. Get on the turnbuckle and taunt. B. Grab a mic and cut a promo. C. Ready himself physically and mentally for his opponent. + 1 to Disciplined D. Do nothing. - "And introducing his opponent!" shouts ring announcer James McAvoy, "Hailing all the way from-" And at that moment, out of James McAvoy's mouth, came the sound of static. Herman looks at him confused, but no one else seems to notice. McAvoy continues. "And weighing in at-" Static again. "It's none other than...-" And then, shocking Herman, out of McAvoy's mouth sounds a piercing scream. Herman retreats, scared, as McAvoy continues the agonizing squeal, his giant blue eyes locked on Herman's, getting bigger and bigger the longer the scream goes on. Then, to Herman's horror, they explode. Like a red fountain, blood spurts from McAvoy's eyes. Herman looks over at Kendrick for support, but watches as Kendrick is mid shriek himself, as his skin starts to peel from his body like a potato or tangerine, either or really, but definitely not a banana. Herman turns to run, but notices the Japanese girls all in a row behind him, and he wasn't sure whether they were laughing or crying, but they certainly were melting. The cheers of the crowd turned to the sounds of pure hell, as they all burn alive in a pyro that seems to have swept over the whole arena. The ring itself then starts to crumble to pieces, and Herman is swept up in a ball of flame, before being twirled around in the air like a cow in a twister. And then, he comes face to face with a horrifying picture. A face as dark as night, with eyes dislodged from their sockets and settling half way down it's cheeks, a head of black hair that sat in scarily uneven heaps on the top of it's head. It's wide lips featured jagged teeth, and a long pink tongue that licked at the flames surrounding it. "Herman, you have responsibilities and obligations you need to attend to." the face spoke in a deep and chilling tone, "Herman, do not ignore your responsibilities and obligations." Herman desperately tries to swim away through the fire, but every way he turns, the face follows. "Herman, you cannot hide." Herman closes his eyes, but the face is still there, burnt into his mind. "YOU CANNOT HIDE." "NOOOOOOOOO!" screams Herman, as he claws at his face. B. Accept your fate, and let the puddle claim you. - 1 to Brave - 1 to Curious THWACK! He feels a pain against his spine as his eyes shoot open, to realise that he's been thrown against a cave wall. Everything still span around him, and the colourful splodges had yet to subside, but he now realised that he was not in the most nightmarish wrestling arena to exist. No, in fact, as he looked at the puddle in front of him, he realised he was back where he first started, but luckily no longer in the freezing puddle. "Herman!" he heard, but as he tried to look around, everything moved slowly and weirdly. There was a figure in front of him, but he couldn't make out who it was. They waved a hand in front of his face, and snapped their fingers a couple of times, but Herman's mind only continued to dot everywhere. The figure then bent down, and slapped him, causing Herman's mind to snap into focus for a second. Just long enough for Herman to notice the figure is Chris. "Fuck." remarks Chris as he looks at the dazed and confused Herman, "You are out of it." Chris stares at Herman for a moment more as the Scot's head teeters from side to side, before he looks out of the opening he climbed into to get into this part of the cliff, and out into the foggy sky above him. B. Climb up to the opening. + 1 to Curious - 1 to Charitable "This is a really small opening. You are one lucky fucker to land in here instead of splattering against the side of the mountain." "You cannot hide..." murmers Herman, still thinking about his responsibilities and obligations. Chris' eyes open quite substantially upon hearing this, "What?" "You cannot hide..." Herman repeats. Chris gulps, "Well we're not gonna hide, we're gonna fucking run Herman. Now come on." Chris grabs Herman and lifts him to his feet, Herman doing nothing to help Chris at all, and just weighing down on him like a sack of crawfish. With all the holes in him now, Herman looks like a slice of swiss cheese, with the only difference being the amount of blood dripping out of each one. Chris notices this. "Jesus Herman, we need to get you off this mountain." "You cannot hide." "Yeah, you've said." states Chris, becoming less creeped out and more irritated with every time Herman says this. Chris turns around and looks in the opposite direction of the opening, to see if there's anywhere this little cave may lead. To his luck, he sees that through the darkness, the cave seems to stretch for a little longer. "Well we're on the wrong side of the ravine, but atleast we can go somewhere..." "You cannot hi-" "I swear to FUCKING GOD Herman!" ------------ As the footsteps sound closer and closer to the room, Blackie decides that whoever it is, his best strategy is to hide. B. Hide. + 1 to Disciplined - 1 to Brave With no time to examine the room much further, Blackie jumps straight for the first hiding place he can see, under the desk. He scoots his way under, until he feels fairly hidden, the screwdriver and diary still in hand. His view of the doorway is slightly obstructed, only able to see the bottom third. He narrows his eyes as the footsteps get louder and louder, until they stop as the figure appears at the doorway. Whoever this person is, appears to be wearing snow boots, and padded green trousers, clearly to protect them from the cold. Blackie knows for a fact this isn't what Shawnie is wearing, and his mind drifts back to the lodge, to try and remember if anyone else was wearing this attire. The figure is silent, as they walk into the room, their footsteps heavy and loud. They walk over to the desk, and Blackie holds his breathing in, becoming as silent as possibly, as the boots are only inches away from his face. The figure moves again, walking around the other side of the desk. Blackie doesn't drop his guard, gripping the screwdriver in his hand tightly. Then, all too weirdly, the figure starts to sing. It's deeply, terribly annoying singing. Singing with no rythym, with no charm whatsoever. It was such poor singing, that Blackie couldn't even figure out what song was being sung. What made the singing worse, that it wasn't even hilariously bad. It wasn't super screechy or tone death that it could amuse a person, it was just boring. Talentless and bland. The more the singing continued, the more Blackie squirmed and wriggled under the desk. God how he wanted to tell the singer to shut up, but he wouldn't, he didn't want to give away his position. On a particularly putrid high note, Blackie felt himself squirm so ferociously, that his screw driver fell out of his hand. Blackie attempted to grab it, but it rolled away from him, out from underneath the desk. Blackie's eyes went wide as he looked at the screw driver. He needed to grab it quick before the figure noticed. Blackie reached out quickly with his hand, grabbing the screw driver firmly, but before he could bring it back to him, a foot stomped down on the back of his palm. "ARGH!" Blackie wailed, as he wrenched his hand out from underneath the boot. Suddenly, the desk is thrown up into the air, exposing Blackie, but giving him a good look at the figure's face. "Joey!?" Blackie yells in surprise. "Blackie!" Joey yells back. "What the fuck are you doing here?" Blackie immediately asks. "I'd ask that to you too." Joey replies. "Yeah well I asked first!" Joey stands and looks at Blackie, peculiarly. Blackie gets to his feet, and looks back at Joey, narrowing his eyes at him. "Are you alright?" Blackie asks, "Is there something wrong?" Joey shakes his head slowly. Blackie shakes his own in annoyance. "Are you alone?" Joey asks. Blackie sighs, "You haven't answered my question yet." "You are alone?" Joey reinforces the question. "Will you-" Blackie starts, but as he turns to look at Joey, he stops. Joey stares at him quite oddly, a glint in his eyes that unsettles Blackie. "Are you sure there's nothing wrong?" asks Blackie again. "Are you alone?" asks Joey, a third time, and it's this time that Blackie truly starts to think about the question, and the intent behind it. Joey seems dead set on finding the answer to this question. He and Joey stare at each other silently for a few moments. "No." Blackie finally answers, "I'm with Shawnie." Joey reacts to this quite weirdly, his eyes get sharper. "Shawnie?" Joey replies, "Shawnie isn't supposed to be on this mountain..." "What?" Blackie asks, taken aback. "What has Shawnie told you?" questions Joey. Blackie takes a couple of steps back as Joey becomes more and more menacing by the second. "Told me?" asks Blackie, "Joey, why are you asking all this? What's going on?" "No matter." Joey says, "Whatever you have been told will prove to be fruitless. You are alone..." Joey reaches into his coat, and pulls out an unfortunately large machete. Blackie backs up even more, terrified as the blade glints in the light. "Master grows impatient. He wants another sacrifice." Joey continues, his eyes wide and blood thirsty, "And I will provide!" Despite the questions buzzing around in Blackie's head, he has no time to think about any of them. Joey leaps at Blackie, swinging his machete, and Blackie is only at the last moment able to duck. Before Joey can swing again, Blackie lunges at him with the screwdriver, jamming it hard into Joey's stomach. Joey collapses backwards into the desk, the screwdriver slipping out of Blackie's hand as it remains stuck in Joey's stomach. Joey looks down at the screwdriver piercing his belly, and grabbing the handle with his free hand, rips it out as though it's nothing. He looks back up at Blackie and laughs. "Fuck this." comments Blackie, as with the diary in hand, he turns and bolts out of the room, slamming the door behind him. ------------ Dyldo feels relief as he is finally able to step down from the side of the mountain, onto a ledge. Climbing with one hand is incredibly difficult, he has found out. Goldie too must be as relieved as he is now that they're on even ground. Neither one of them were in very fit shape to do all the climbing they just did. As the pair finally step onto the ledge, Dyldo kneels down at the edge of it, looking down into the ravine below. Unfortunately, he can see nothing but fog. He turns to see Goldie doing the same thing. She sighs. "Can't see a thing." she says, "I hope they're alright." What does Dyldo reply? A. "Me too." B. "How can they be?" C. "They will be." D. Say nothing. - Dyldo gets back to his feet, looking at the pathway ahead of them that the ledge leads onto. It's a small path, that curves around the side of the mountain, but luckily for the two of them, it's all even ground. Unluckily however, it'll put them up against the blistering cold for some time to come, and it was incredibly cold down there. "Let's keep moving." says Goldie, "See if this pathway leads anywhere. We might even be able to find a way back up." "Even if we do, we're on the wrong side of the mountain." retorts Dyldo. "I'd rather be on the wrong side than stuck down here." she replies, as she fastens a bit of cloth back around her stomach to plug up the bullet hole again. Goldie picks up a small stick, and uses it as a walking stick, putting all of her weight onto it as to help herself balance. "Not going to lie, I preferred the shotgun." she jokes. "Yeah well, it was either it or you." Dyldo replies. "I would've picked the shotgun." she says with a smile, "It's more useful than I am." Goldie starts walking up the track, Dyldo joining her. Goldie turns and smiles at Dyldo. "I'm not saying I'm ungrateful, I am. I really am. But I feel like it's just delaying the inevitable. If I don't fall to my death, I'm gonna bleed out, or get fucked up by B00Bz or one of his lackeys." "We've killed most of them." replies Dyldo. "Have we?" questions Goldie, "B00Bz kept it quiet for quite a bit, who says some of us aren't still hiding knives up our sleeves." Dyldo ponders it for a moment. "This mountain's gonna finish me off. I can feel it." remarks Goldie. "Don't say that." "Don't act like you don't feel the same way. Mr. 'Let's Keep Moving'. Way to avoid the question." "What're you talking about?" asks Dyldo. "You know I'm not gonna make it. Or you wouldn't have dodged the question before." "Look!" Dyldo snaps, "I know the chances of you making it off of here are slim, but I don't want to keep hearing about it! I didn't save your life for you to moan about how you're going to die anyway! If saving you was so pointless, and there's absolutely no hope for you, then go dive off the side of this ledge now! End it on your terms!" Goldie stares at Dyldo, perplexed at his words. Dyldo looks back at her sternly. After a moment, Goldie looks down at the snow. "So then!" Dyldo continues, "You know that deep down there's a chance for you! You know that it's not worth just giving up! So shut up about it, and let's go!" Dyldo pushes onwards, walking up the track. Goldie looks up and watches him, multiple emotions playing on her face. Guilt, shame, but above all, respect. She herself pushes down onto the stick, and follows after him. ------------- Hale wakes up suddenly, the right side of his face numb with cold, as he quickly discovers he's been laying belly first in snow. He pushes himself upwards quickly, taking in his surroundings as quickly as he can. He realises he is at the very bottom of the ravine, with the cliffsides on either side of him, stretching so far into the sky that he can't see the tops due to the fog. The cable car lays next to him, in a messy heap, shattered to pieces. Hale gets to his feet, and begins looking around for his friend. He knows that Nig and Rachel took the ride down here with him. "Nig!" he shouts. "Yeah?" he hears the reply from behind the cable car. He turns to see Nig stumbling from behind it, still looking Nogged. Nig leans against the cable car wreckage for support, as he smiles at Hale, almost as though he is entirely unaware of what situation they're in. "Ayup!" he proclaims. Hale sighs with relief, thank god Nig's okay. "hey guis!!!" Hale hears behind him, and the sigh of relied is sucked back in like a vacuum cleaner. He turns reluctantly to see Rachel, also unfortunately unharmed, as she walks towards the pair of them. She sees Nig and smiles brightly, before running towards him. Hale watches as the two embrace and kiss. What does Hale do? A. Audibly gag. B. Grimace and turn away. - 1 to Romance C. Pick up a snowball and hurtle it at them. D. Do nothing. - Hale feels something brush softly against his hand. He looks down slowly to see what it is, to be quite startled by the sight of a wolf. No, not a wolf. THE wolf. It's the wolf from before, that greeted him on the entry to the mountain, the one that he forgot about and left behind when he went on the cable car. The wolf that he gave some of his McMuffin too. That wolf. "HALE WATCH OUT!" screams Nig, "THERE'S A WOLF!" "I know Nig." sighs Hale as he rolls his eyes, "It's alright, it's friendly-" The wolf barks agressively at Nig, who jumps backwards away from it, falling over his own feet. Hale strokes it's head again, calming it down. "Hey! It's alright!" he says, "It's only Nig. He's fine." The wolf seems happy with Hale stroking his head, but continues to look over at Nig and Rachel suspiciously. "y is it so obsessd wit u?" asks Rachel, watching the situation curiously. She tries to go near the wolf as well but it growls at her, and Rachel moves backwards again. "Good boy." Hale says. Nig is back to his feet, looking sad as Hale strokes the wolf. "I wanna stroke it!" he says, "It's not fair!" "I don't know why it only lets me stroke it to be honest..." Hale comments. "Maybe it thinks you're a tree." adds Nig. "Why would that be the reason?" asks Hale. Nig shrugs. Hale ignores him and continues to stroke the wolf again. He's so glad it's found him again after he left it at the cable car station before. And then it hits him. "GUYS!" Hale shouts, turning to them both, "This wolf knows the way back!" "wat??" "I left it at the cable car station remember! If it's down here with us now, it knows a way back to the top of the mountain. It knows a way out of here!" "Holy shit!" yells Nig, his eyes filled with hope. He and Rachel look at one another excitedly. Hale looks back at the wolf, smiling happily. He hugs it, overcome with joy at the prospect of getting out of there. He gets to his feet, and looks down at the wolf. "Right, lead us out of here..." What should Hale name the wolf? Kipsa. - And with that, the newly named Kipsa turns, almost immediately seeming to understand Hale's instruction, and leads them down the track. Hale follows, with Nig and Rachel behind them. Nig's foot kicks something on the floor. He looks down to inspect what it is, and a big grin emerges on his face as he finds out. "Hey! Shotgun!" -------------- Blackie ran down one of the corridors, so occupied with getting away from Joey that he had totally lost to retrace his steps, and was now lost. Joey was singing in his typical old terrible fashion again, Blackie could hear it in the distance, a murmer that got closer every time Blackie stopped to try and catch his breath. This was an issue that Blackie unfortunately had to face, that he couldn't run for very long amounts of time, or very quickly at all, thanks to all of his wounds due to the bear fight he had earlier. He knew that he couldn't run forever, and that attempting to fight Joey was a lost cause now he had lost his only weapon. His best bet was again, to hide. Blackie rounded a corner, and saw a door off to the side of the hall. Without thinking, he pushed himself through it, and shut the door quietly behind him. He turned and put his back up against the door, as he heard the singing get louder in the hallway. It became apparent to him that Joey was just on the other side, humming away atrociously. And he passed right by. Blackie sighed with relief, as the singing disapeared into the distance, echoing quietly through the building. He let himself slump down against the door, tired out from having to push his body through all that running. Then his mind was re-swarmed with the questions he couldn't let himself think about too much. What the fuck is Joey up to? He was all too ready to kill him, talking about making him a sacrifice. Is that what Shawnie was talking about? About how thirteen lives must be claimed by the mountain? Is that what Joey meant by sacrifice? It must have been, but why was he doing it? What will it achieve? And how did any of this link to Percival Darper? "Confused aren't you." comments Shawnie from the corner of the room. Blackie jumps, startled by Shawnie's sudden appearance. He then gets to his feet, looking very annoyed, as he storms towards Shawnie. "I am!" he barks as he heads towards Shawnie, "And I'm done being confused! I just nearly got fucking killed! I want to know, what the fuck is going on!?" "I told you," Shawnie continues, "I can't tell you." "Why!?" "I can't tell you that either." "What can you tell me?" "Nothing, I can only point you in the right direction." Shawnie takes the diary out of Blackie's hands, and flips through the pages. He gives it back to Blackie. "Read." Shawnie instructs. Blackie raises an eyebrow at him, before looking down at the diary. 'Log 12, My school is flurishing. Finally I am living my dream of being headmaster. 13 students as of so far! The process of taking these children is so simple, and I've mastered it. It has of course caused a stir down in the village, with all the disapearing children, but no one has thought to look up here on the mountain. No one suspects me at all.' "Fuck..." remarks Blackie, "This guy was actually successful? He held kids here against their will? In this building?" Shawnie nods. "13 kids..." Blackie repeats, "Well that's definitely significant. Why does it have to be 13? That's a bloody coincidence isn't it." "Contrived honestly." agrees Shawnie. Blackie muses over the thought, before looking back down at the diary and continuing to read. 'I feel confident enough now to take the next step. This will be risky, but it will be worth it. For him. - Percival Darper' "Who's him?" Blackie asks, but before he can think about it much longer, the singing starts to sound louder again. A noise sounds from down the corridor, but not the singing of Joey. It's a new sound, from a new person. Blackie sighs, who else could be in here with him? He turns to Shawnie, in hopes of any information, but as Shawnie stands unchanged in demeanor, he realises it's a lost cause. Instead, Blackie needs to take his own initiative, and with having lost the screwdriver, he needs a new weapon. Surveying the room, Blackie doesn't find anything that could work particularly great as a weapon. There is only a a sharp wedge of wood, a metal lamp, and a bit of wire, that Blackie supposed he could wrap around his fist. What does Blackie pick up? A. The wood. B. The lamp. Lamp Aquired C. The wire. D. Nothing. ------------- With Herman slung over his shoulder, still muttering to himself under his breath, Chris walks the pair through the cave system. Chris is quite bewildered by how long the cave has stretched on for, not being aware of how much actually existed underneath this mountain as far as a cave system was concerned. It all seemed very natural, not man made by any means, which somewhat put Chris at ease. At least it was something that B00Bz or any of his crew had nothing to do with. He honestly had no clue how much B00Bz actually did have control of on this mountain, but with any luck, Chris and the others had depleted enough of his sources. Hopefully now their attempts to get off the mountain wouldn't be too largely hindered. "You cannot hide." Herman mutters lightly under his breath. Chris ignores Herman, having gotten used to the repition by now. "Shit!" Chris yells loudly, as the pair finally come to what appears to be a dead end, "Why the fuck does it stop here? After all that!?" Chris lets go of Herman in anger, letting the Scot slump to the floor. He turns around and stomps his feet aggressively, before kicking the wall of the cave, hurting his foot slightly. "We're never getting out of here!" Chris continues to shout to himself. Herman meanwhile crawls along the floor, towards a small hole in the bottom of the cave wall. He tries to mutter something to Chris, but nothing escapes his mouth. Instead, he just continues to crawl towards it. Chris turns around and spots him anyway, and notices Herman crawling towards the strange hole. What does Chris say? A. Herman! You're a genius! B. Don't go near there Herman! C. I don't know about this... D. Say nothing. - Then, as Herman reaches the hole, his body lurches forward, and he starts to slide down what appears to be a small chute. Herman can't stop himself as the slippery slide spins him in every direction, making him go even further dizzy from his already dazed self. Eventually, Herman reaches the end of the chute, being propelled forward through the air, before he hits a hard stone floor. Herman lays where he is, not enough energy or conciousness after the ride to pull himself to his feet. Instead, he just continues to lay on his back, looking pleasantly at the cave ceiling, which stretches so far above him. The longer he looks, the more the ceiling changes. The water droplets condensing on the jaggedy bits of rock start to turn into small orbs of colour, that swirl around again in his mind. Then, through the darkness, the face reappears. "HERMAN! YOU CANNOT HIDE!" Herman starts to scream in terror, as the face gets closer, it's tongue only inches from his face. The screams are cut short though, as Chris lands down hard on Herman's stomach following his own ride through the water chute. Herman keels over in pain, winded, as Chris gets to his feet excited. "That was fucking awesome!" He looks down at Herman, seeing him writhing around in pain, and so extends a hand to help him up. Herman stares at the hand for a few moments, trying to understand what it is that Chris is holding to him, before he seems to understand it, and grasps it lightly. As Chris starts to pull Herman to his feet, he starts to survey the vast room around him. Upon quick inspection, Chris' mouth drops in awe, and his grip of Herman is released, causing him to fall back to the floor. "Where the fuck are we!?" comments an aghast Chris. The room around them is gigantic, and more importantly, circular. Giant wooden statues shaped like human figures stand in a circle all around them, 13 of them to be exact, and more to Chris' curiosity, what he originally thought were torches, illuminating the room, happen to now be five of these statues set alight. It only takes a moment of Chris looking at these to put two and two together in his head. "Herman... ...these are the sacrifices." Hale smiles as he watches Kipsa, the wolf, move ahead, seemingly knowing the cave system it takes them through like the back of it's hand, or, rather, paw. If Hale had another McMuffin, he'd very gratiously give some of it to Kipsa right now. All of it, even? Perhaps? No? He'd have to be in the situation to truly know. Nig walks next to Hale, pointing the shotgun around in front of him, acting overly badass. Every now and then he pretends to see something, so he can twirl dramatically and point his shotgun, then, after a few seconds, shakes his head at Hale, signifying they're okay. He might have done this 17 times so far, from Hale's count. Rachel meanwhile walks on the other side of Hale, originally having walked with Nig, but being put off by him nearly swinging and hitting her in the face with the shotgun accidentally. She too watches Kipsa pleasantly, but keeps narrowing her eyes as she looks back and forth from the wolf to Hale. Hale grows tiresome of it, able to see her in his peripheral vision. "What?" he blurts out eventually, startling Rachel slightly. "oh i was uuh" she replies, trying to gather her thoughts, "i was jw if you think this is defnitly same wolf?" "Of course it's the same wolf!" Hale barks back. "how du u no?" "I just do. It was friendly with me. Plus, I just remember." "but-" "Shut up, okay!?" Hale demands, and Rachel pulls a sad face as she goes quiet. "WATCH OUT!" Hale and Rachel jump, and the wolf whimpers in fear, as Nig turns suddenly again, pointing the shotgun at the roof. Hale watches him wide eyed for a moment, before Nig relaxes again, looking at Hale. He shakes his head. "False alarm." Nig explains, "Think it was just a pidgeon." "It was not a fucking pidgeon Nig!" shouts Hale, "We're in a fucking cave! There are no pidgeons!" "Swear I just saw one." "No! You didn't! Either hand me the shotgun, or stop doing that stupid thing!" "What stupid thing?" "Where you twist around like you've seen something! You're scaring Kipsa! You're not in some stupid action movie! FUCK OFF!" "Woah! Mate! Chill out! Put on a happy face! We're about to get out of here!" Hale stares at Nig intensely, breathing heavily. He closes his eyes and tries to calm himself down. "I know," he says, "But the closer we get to getting out of here, the more frightened I get of something just sweeping us back in." "B00Bz is on the other side of the mountain to us now," Nig continues, "We're safe. The drama stops here for us." "ye-" Rachel is cut short, as in an attempt to step towards Hale and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, she slips. Hale laughs, as Nig runs over and helps her to her feet. As he does so, a piece of paper falls out of her back pocket. Hale eyes it suspiciously, as Kipsa moves over to it and sniffs it. "What's that?" asks Hale. Nig and Rachel turn to see what he's talking about, Nig bends down to pick it up. "oh yeh i forgot about that!" says Rachel, "its a missing kid poster or sumtin i foudn yurlier!" Nig unfolds it and opens it up, looking at the face of the kid on the poster. He raises an eyebrow, as he squints his eyes at it. Hale watches Nig curiously, wondering what about the picture warrants such a response. After examnining it for a bit longer, Nig looks at the picture with wide eyes, quite scared and confused. "What the fuck..." he mutters. "What is it?" Hale asks. Nig turns the poster to Hale, so he can see the kid too. Hale is taken aback, shocked. "It's you." Nig answers. -------------- "I don't get any of this Shawnie!" Blackie exclaims, "I don't get how Percival Darper has antyhing to do with what the bloody fuck is going on right now?" Shawnie looks at the diary, then back up at Blackie. "If I continue reading, will it tell me?" asks Blackie to Shawnie. Shawnie takes the diary again, flips a couple more pages, and hands it back again. Blackie looks down at the diary, and with one last irritated look at Shawnie, begins to read the page. 'Log 14, He's mine. I have him at last. The little schmuck that caused all of this, the boy that cost me my job and my life, is now my 14th student. My favourite student. Oh how I've longed for this boy. This is years in the making. My school would not be complete without him. My little Jake Hale. - Percival Darper.' Blackie's eyes burst open as he looks up from the diary to Shawnie. Shawnie looks back at him matter of factly. Blackie's mouth goes agape as he can't quite comprehend the sentence. "You understand now?" Shawnie asks. "Not at fucking all to be honest with you." replies Blackie. ----------- "There's thirteen statues, for thirteen of us..." Chris moves from the middle of the room over to these wooden statues, minimal in detail, looking quite ginger bread man-esque. He then turns and moves over to one of the five statues that is lit aflame. "And five sacrifices have already been made..." Chris looks at the statue, burning brightly. He sadly starts to wonder who these five sacrifices could be, knowing that it was previously three during their skirmish with Nelson. It made him worry for Hale, and Nig, and Goldie, and even Dyldo somewhat. He knew that it was all too likely that any of them could represent this burning pyre in front of him. Herman meanwhile continued to lay on the floor, with the specs forming again. He stiffened in terror, awaiting the face to re-emerge, but it didn't. In fact, it was this time that Herman noticed that the specs were quite different. No longer bright orbs of light, but dark and smokey. Before Herman could truly comprehend what they were, they shot towards him. Herman could feel pain pulsing through his body, his organs feeling stiff and rigid, his limbs starting to feel entirely numb. Herman looks over at Chris, who is pre-occupied watching the dancing flames above one of the statues. His body starts to convulse, and he realises he may have to do something. What does Herman do? A. Try to fight whatever is happening. B. Welcome whatever is happening. C. Attempt to shout Chris. D. Do nothing. - Chris meanwhile, still stands in front of one of the five flaming statues. He looks at the smoldering and burning wood with interest, before looking up at the flickering fire. Then, through the flames, Chris sees a face. He jumps backwards away from it, readying himself, before realising it isn't anything in the room with him. The face isn't through the flames. It's in the flames. And it was the face of Katie. Chris watched, aghast, as Katie swam around in the flames. She looked helpless, and sad, as she looked out at Chris. Chris' mind swept back to the lodge, when he watched Katie fall to the floor in front of his very eyes, dead as a door nail. Now here she was, trapped almost, inside this fire. He turned around to the one beside it, and in those flames he could see Rosa, looking as sad as Katie. Her eyes too were on Chris, watching him almost as though anticipating his help, but there was nothing Chris could do. He could only stand and watch. Chris moves over quickly to the other three statues that sat in flames, hoping to see who else had been sacrificed to the mountain. Once he got there, he looked on in confusion. In the flames of the third, was Tina. In the fourth, Nelson. And in the fifth, Gina. But they were the killers! They're the ones doing the sacrificing! Chris thought. How could they be here, too looking sad and helpless at Chris. There eyes too were wide, and Chris could see a spec of guilt in their expressions. "Herman!" Chris shouts, "Have you seen this?" He turns back towards Herman, expecting to see him still layed on the floor, but instead, Herman stands strong in the middle of the room, staring at Chris, a smile on his face. "It is Master's work, yes." proclaims Herman, as he moves towards Chris. Chris freezes, his eyes glued to the now all too energetic Herman. He stands, shaking, as he slowly moves away from Herman. "What?" Chris says, "You? How can it be you!? This doesn't make sense!" "Master takes who he likes to do his bidding." Herman speaks as he continues to move at Chris, "It is an honour to be selected by him." "What do you mean?" "He could sense my weakness, and he brought me strength, in return for my gracious service." "Who's he?" Chris asks. "That information does not matter to you. Soon, you will be nothing more than another face inside the flames!" At that, Herman charges at Chris, promting Chris' mind to go into overdrive, as he knows he must act fast. What does Chris? A. Charge back at Herman and fight him. B. Attempt to push one of the flaming statues down on him. C. Run away from Herman. D. Do nothing. ------------ Dyldo and Goldie continue to move through the blistering cold along the ledge of the cliff side, the pair of them huddled close to one another for warmth. The cold of the wind is so numbingly awful, that Dyldo starts to feel that if they don't find a way of getting inside the mountain soon, they may end up freezing to death out here. As he thinks this, almost too coincidentally, the ledge the two walk along comes to a stop, with nothing ahead of them but the drop into the ravine below. Dyldo can't believe his eyes, and judging from Goldie's expression, she too is distraught. "You're kidding..." she says. "No..." Dyldo utters in return, before falling to his knees. They'd been walking for what felt like hours, and this was where all this effort had landed them? Nowhere. No closer to safety. Dyldo wrapped himself up in his own arms, and closed his eyes, as he started to make various grunts of varying volume. Goldie peers over the edge below them, then turns to him. "Dylan, I'm not sure, because of the fog, but I think I see some water..." Dyldo looks up at her, before crawling over to the edge to look down over it as well. He squints his eyes, and as Goldie said, through the fog, it looks to be water, but he can't be sure. "The fog's too thick..." he starts, "You can't really tell." "It looks like water." Goldie insists. "It could be ice?" Dyldo muses. Goldie looks over the edge again. "It's rippling in the wind. It's definitely water." she confirms. "We're cold," says Dyldo, looking at her worriedly "and we may be a bit delirious. You could be seeing things. It could be a mirage." "Don't think that applies here Dylan. It's not a desert." "It's a snow desert." "What? No it isn't." "What are you suggesting anyway? That we just dive off of here into what could or could not be a lake?" "Yes." Goldie replies almost instantly. Dyldo narrows his eyebrows at her. "What if it's not a lake?" he asks nervously. "Then we'll be dead before we even know we're wrong." "Oh how reassuring." he says sarcastically. "We'll just freeze to death up here otherwise! And we both know we weren't in any shape to do any more climbing!" Dyldo sighs, knowing Goldie may be correct. "But-" "If it makes you feel any better," Goldie continues, "I'll go first." "What!? Maybe we should talk about it first!" "We'll just arrive at the same conclusion anyway. It'd be a waste of time." Goldie walks towards the ledge and looks down, taking a deep breath. "Goldie wait!" Dyldo shouts. But it's helpless, and Goldie lets herself fall over the edge. Dyldo scrambles to look over the edge, as Goldie disapears into the fog. He anxiously listens for the sound of a splatter, but instead, is greeted with the sound of a splash. A small sense of relief washes over him, but it isn't until Goldie's voice sounds that he truly becomes relaxed again. "It's a pond! But fuck is it freezing!" she shouts. Dyldo knows now that he must follow, so takes a deep breath as he mentally prepares himself. After counting to three in his head, he throws himself forward, feeling himself fall through the cold mist, before he splashes head first into the pond. The freezing temperature of the pond bites into him instantly, and he can barely breath as he rises to the surface for a breath of fresh air. He opens his eyes, and looks around himself, to see Goldie has swam towards the shore and is pulling herself up onto it. She shudders as she wraps her arms around herself tightly, her gold face paint miraculously not washed off by the water. Then, a splash sounds in the pond behind Dyldo. He locks eyes with Goldie, as the two look worriedly at one another, before she starts to look over his shoulder. Dyldo himself turns, however other than the ripples in the surface of the pond, there seems to be no movement. Then, water starts to splash left and right, as something moves through the pond towards Dyldo. He is frozen in place, barely able to bring himself to react as whatever is in there with him moves at him with ferocious speed. "DYLAN!" shouts Goldie from the shore. What does Dyldo do? A. Attempt to swim to the shore. B. Stand his ground and try to fight whatever it is. C. Shout for Goldie's help. D. Close his eyes and accept his fate. ---------- Blackie continues to look at the opened diary in his hand, continuously looking back at the page to ensure he read it right. There it says it, clear as day, 'My little Jake Hale.' What on absolute earth is Jake's name doing in this diary? Who is Percival Darper? Why has Jake never mentioned him before? "If you don't understand, I can't really tell you." Shawnie says. "But you wouldn't be telling me technically, I already have the information, you'd just be helping me put it together." "I'm not doing it out of choice. The forces of this mountain stop me from doing so. I don't think your loophole will work on them." "The forces of this mountain?" Blackie questions, "What is it magic?" "Not magic exactly, but there are things up here that extend far beyond human power." "And they have to do with Percival Darper? And Jake!?" "They do indeed." answers Shawnie. "Our Jake?" "Yes." "Why? This guy kidnapped Jake!? Around 15 years ago? So what when Jake was like 5?" Shawnie nods. "And Jake must have escaped... Or did he? Did he ever escape? He must have, right?" Blackie looks at Shawnie helplessly, the thoughts running through his head a million miles an hour. Shawnie watches him, sympathy clear in his eyes as he knows he is unable to help. Blackie grunts in annoyance, gripping at his hair, as he tries to force an answer to come. Shawnie's eyes widen as he looks off into the distance slightly, before he looks at Blackie. "Answers will come I'm sure," he starts, "But right now, you need to go." "What? Why?" Blackie asks. "Because if you stay here much longer, you won't live to find out the answers." Shawnie heads for the door of the room, walking straight past a confused Blackie, before opening it up and taking a look down both ends of the hallway. He then turns back to Blackie. "Find your friends." Shawnie starts, "They're closer than you think. But be careful, not all of them are who they say they are anymore. The loyalties they used to have towards you have gone, they're only loyal to their 'master' now." And before Blackie can question this statement, Shawnie turns the corner of the doorway. As Blackie runs to catch up, he notices much to his dismay, that Shawnie his gone. He is irritated, but Shawnie's disapearing act was no longer the only thing bugging him. So much else had been found out and said that was now taking up all of the space in Blackie's brain. Then, movement, at the end of the hallway. Blackie ducks and hides in the doorway, gripping the lamp tightly in his hand, as he squints his eyes to see if he recognises the figure walking from one doorway to the other right at the end of the hall. He does. And it's none other than Beth. Blackie watches as Beth carefully opens up a doorway, before stepping inside the room. From what he could tell, she wasn't holding a weapon, although she also looked to be in quite good physical shape, being able to walk just fine. Blackie thought about what Shawnie said, as he started to think over his next course of action. What does Blackie do? A. Attempt to sneakily follow Beth. B. Walk over and get Beth's attention. C. Go in the exact opposite direction of Beth. D. Stay in the room. -------- "It's me..." Hale says for the third time, unable to say anything else as he looks at the poster, "Why is it me?" It was indeed Hale on the poster, a much younger Hale, looking around 5 years of age, but Hale nonetheless. "mayb its jus sum1 who luks lyk u?" speaks Rachel. "Nah, that's Hale. I've seen young Hale, and that's definitely him." counters Nig, looking equally perplexed. "But why is it me!?" Hale continues to ask, "I was never missing! I don't think I was at least, and certainly not around here! Why would I go missing here? We've never been here in my life! I don't get it!" "You think this has to do with why they won't kill you?" Nig asks. Hale looks up at Nig, as cogs start to turn in his head. It must be, he starts to think. It must add up, but he just doesn't know how. Hale turns to Rachel. "Where did you find this!?" he asks. "joey had it, i tuk- he ummm, he gave it me..." she says, before going quiet. "Joey had it!? Why the fuck would Joey have it?" Hale asks, "Where is Joey?" "I dunno, I guess we just lost him at the lodge when everything kicked off..." Nig answers. "Honestly, I don't even remember seeing Joey at the lodge." Hale continues. Rachel meanwhile, continues to look at her feet quietly, slowly backing away from the other two. Kipsa suddenly starts barking, gaining the attention of the three. They look at the wolf, confused as it continues to bark at nothing in particular. "Kipsa! Are you alright?" Hale asks, but Kipsa pays no attention. Then, out of nowhere, the wolf begins to run off, up through the cave system. "Kipsa what the fuck!" Hale adds. Hale starts to run after Kipsa, with Nig joining him instantly, and Rachel tagging along behind, looking confused. Kipsa continues to bolt away, going much faster than the rest of them, but thanks to the paw prints it leaves, allowing them to follow. Eventually, the caves turn to solid walls with a roof, confusing the trio. "Where the fuck are we now!?" Nig says. "is it cable car stayshun?" Rachel asks. "Does it look like the cable car station?" Hale venemously responds, "The cable car station was one room, this is an entire fucking hallway! You fucking idiot! YOU IDIOT!" Hale turns back around, to see the paw prints along the floor, and so points after it, so they can continue running. They aren't running for too long before they notice that the paw prints have lead to a staircase, going down into what looks almost like a basement. "Not another fucking basement." says Nig sadly. They hear a bark come from down there, signalling that's where Kipsa is. Hale motions for them to follow him down, and with a shake of his head, Nig does so. "This doesn't seem like it'll lead us off of the mountain Jake." speaks up Nig. "Who's to say?" responds Hale, "Maybe it will..." Nig raises his eyebrow at Hale, as they continue down the stairs, Nig pointing his shotgun ahead of him cautiously. Once they reach the bottom of the staircase, they turn into a small room, dark and grimey, that could very much suit being the lair of Bance. Kipsa sits in the middle of the room, still barking at seemingly nothing. The room is bare, all expect for a giant cage ahead of them, almost like a jail cell. The iron bars of the cell are rusted, and like everything else in the room, are blackened with ash. Hale recoils at the smell of burning the room exudes. "It fucking stinks in here!" Nig points out, "Stinks like burnt fucking toast!" Hale looks down at the still barking Kipsa, and as he goes to dismiss the wolf, notices it is looking at something over Hale's shoulder. Hale turns to see if there is anything there, and is greeted by some text on the wall, written in a red substance. He scans it with his eyes, before going pale. "Nig..." he mutters, who doesn't seem to be paying attention, as he looks around the whole room. "Rachel!?" Nig blurts, "Rachel where are you!?" "Nig..." "RACHEL!?" "NIG!" "HALE!" "LOOK!" Hale points at the wall aggressively. "RACHEL!" Nig vaguely lifts his hands, to indicate that Rachel is nowhere in sight. He looks at Hale just as worriedly as Hale looks at him. How does Hale respond? A. "We'll look for Rachel, but first just look at the wall!" B. "I don't give a shit about Rachel! Now look at the wall!" C. "I'm sure she's fine! Now just look at the wall!" D. "Shut the fuck up, and look at the fucking wall!" - Hale points again at the wall, causing Nig to instinctively look at the text written across it. The thick, crimson text, stretching ominously across the wall, that reads; 'YOU CANNOT KILL THE DANDY MAN' -------- THE DANDY MAN IS WATCHING |
