I have been going to seminary for a while, and Heyward is very knowledgeable as well. We want to answer any and all of your questions concerning the tenets and beliefs of Christianity: Who Christ is, why suffering exists, who God is, what is the nature of God, why Jesus had to die, is the Bible accurate, what does the Bible say, etc. We want you to be comfortable with talking about Christianity, we will not try to argue our assert our beliefs upon you, we will just state them. Anything you want to ask, we will answer without judgement. If we don't hold up to our promises here, I am sorry. |

Stop with the self-righteous bullshit please. You are literally repeating yourself over and over. I can be tolerant of people, but when you state the fact you were gay and then supposedly merely fell out of it because a book told you so is ridiculous. Yes, people undergo changes in sexuality, albeit gradually. People find new fetishes, people lose interest in older ones, however reading a book won't suddenly not make you gay. That's like the "talk therapy" for being trans, it's literally brainwashing. I mean by all means be a Christian, no one is stopping you, but stop being a hiveminded Christian. If you were truly gay you know those feelings lay dormant inside you. Book or otherwise. |

"My identity is only found in Christ' Means apart from Christ I am lost and have no meaning. It speaks of the time of judgement, when Jesus will speak on my behalf to the Father. Jesus will say that his righteousness is my righteousness. I will be saved from hell, only because of Jesus, and his sacrifice on the cross to atone (or to make clean) for my sin. 'I can see know how depraved and depressed I was with the weight of homosexuality on my heart.' Depraved means lost or sinful. I was depressed all the time. I had no purpose on this earth. I hated myself, and felt that everyone hated me. Read my testimony for more clarification on this matter. 'Jesus died on the cross to free me from that sin' Like I said above, the atonement has given me freedom from the oppression that sin holds. There is freedom in the cross. Sin is like shackles. It doesn't allow you to break free, you are a slave of temptation, lust, gluttony, etc. It is only when you become a bondservant to God that you find the freedom to chose to sin or not. a sinful man will only ever chose sin. He can never chose righteousness, unless God calls upon his heart and gives him the power to do so. |

Animals are used symbolically all throughout the bible. To my knowledge there is no mention of any animal actually foreshadowing sin or bad luck, though they can be used to represent sinful behavior. |

I would not be happy.
Self-righteous? How. All I've been saying for the whole argument is that it was not my doing. How can I be self-righteous when I never explain me being free from homosexuality as my own doing? I would still be caught up in it if it were not for the grace of God--that had nothing to do with me or my actions. Also it wasn't a book, it was God's Spirit opening my heart to listen and be convicted by the word of God. Also, I never said I don't get temptations anymore. I do. That isn't to say that I am bound by them, I've found greater hope and love in God than I will ever find in sin, and it is because of this that I don't care if I won't be "made straight" in this life. Who knows, maybe I won't, that's not for me to decide. Who knows, maybe I'll never be able to love a woman, but that is not my purpose, my purpose is to serve God. And I know that in the next life, when I die, sin will be no more, tears will be wiped from my face by the hand of God, and I will be loved beyond any measure. I will be free from the temptation that my body drawers near, and I will have my redeemed body that suffers no longer from the effects of sin (which is death). And finally, you can't be a Christian if you don't take the Bible for what it is. How can you pick and chose what you want to follow in the Bible? How can you accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but ignore everything else the Bible has to say? Me picking and choosing doesn't have any credibility. Me following the bible wholly and truthfully to the best I can, is more valid than me saying "God said this, but he didn't say this." What authority do I have to say that one part of the Bible is incorrect, but the other part is true? I've none. |

Okay at this point, I'm just going to ask you to "correct" my beliefs to how you feel they should be. Basically state all the times you disagree with me. "God" is not a physical entity. God is a human social construct to explain what we do not yet understand. To satisfy our intense curiosity as sentient beings, we wrote books to explain the secrets of the universe, we were horribly wrong, but to us it was what we wanted - Answers. After all, we created our own language, our own communication, and the meanings of every little sound our vocal chords make is decided by us. Including the word "God", what is a "God?" It's almost become a word to get out of what you cannot explain, it's exact purpose from the beginning. It's not an old man in the clouds, it's a way of saying "I don't know", humans naturally fear the end of their lives. That's why we also created the construct of an afterlife to give us comfort, and were told if we performed good deeds during our lives, our "God" would give us a nice afterlife. At that point, the books were written and religion as we know it began infecting the minds of people. It quickly spread like a hivemind, the books as the queen, and the followers as nothing more than it's workers. Our desire to answer what we cannot has lead us to attempt to explain. God is a social construct to tell us how people think we should be living our lives. Whether we choose to live it that way is up to us, as sentient beings, and nothing else. Ultimately, we are a bunch of apes on a rock floating in space. If you put us into the grand scheme of things, we are tiny, insignificant to the universe, and our mother, the Earth. We are still young and cannot leave her, therefore we grasp at straws like uneducated flies for answers. We do not want to be known as insignificant, so we wrote ways to glorify ourselves, to tell us we mean something. That we were created for a purpose. |
