I have been going to seminary for a while, and Heyward is very knowledgeable as well. We want to answer any and all of your questions concerning the tenets and beliefs of Christianity: Who Christ is, why suffering exists, who God is, what is the nature of God, why Jesus had to die, is the Bible accurate, what does the Bible say, etc. We want you to be comfortable with talking about Christianity, we will not try to argue our assert our beliefs upon you, we will just state them. Anything you want to ask, we will answer without judgement. If we don't hold up to our promises here, I am sorry. |

That depends on your definition of dick. I personally wouldn't use a slang term to describe my master. Your conclusion is derogatory and ambiguous. |

If I lived in a world without a God who has given us his word for us to use, I world more than likely not care as much as I do about homosexuality. But that world does not exist. I am not going to pretend God never gave us his revelation, because it wouldn't be any bit helpful to me. The Bible says sin is sin. Any disobedience to God is disobedience to God. Whether it be by murdering or by lying. The problem is the heart, and the human's sinful nature to desire to be the god of their lives. So yes, murder is counted as sin, in the same way that homosexuality is. That is not to say I would be much more apt to execute a killer than a homosexual (I would never execute a homosexual btw). God gave us a need for justice, and entrusted with at least a little bit that, but ultimate justice is left up to God. And God will punish liars the same way he will punish murders. |

Meant to quote Heyward here but forgot. But yeah this is directed at Heyward Ok let's see. God just makes one guy suffer for no apparent reason Then the guy asks why God is like "Nigga you can't question me" Yeah instead of taking it seriously and describing him the best I can I'll take the easy route of calling him an asshole. A dick, a douchebag. Whatever term may you prefer. I am very sorry if this uhh... is offensive to you. I have nothing against you But that's my point of view atm. Don't worry, I did think this way before this thread too, and was aware of Job's book. I went to a confirmation class where we learned about God, Jesus and what good churches do for a week. No. He provides everyone a way to him. It's your responsibility to accept his offer. Even now, he is offering. God is a big antinomy (a seemingly contradictory set of truths, that are both true). God explain himself to Moses as "a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.” in Exodus 34:6-7 How can he forgive sin, while he says he will by no means clear the guilty? You can't have God without both aspects. He is loving and just. He is forgiving and wrathful. How can he do this? By pouring all his wrath on himself, Jesus Christ (who is God), and forgiving the sins of anyone who will accept forgiveness. |

Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? If so, from what I can understand is that if you commit sin you go to Hell Say there is a guy who has committed multiple murders of innocent people, including women and children. And has done lots of other sins, including some, if not all the "7 deadly sins" or so. And in the very end when he is about to get executed, he decides "Oh I know I'll just pray to God and hope I go to Heaven" Now why I made that example was because what the preachers and all those are saying is indeed that God forgives anyone who believes in him enough. |

We are trying to take this seriously. You guys are being jerks about it all. We want honest people who are interested in what we have to say to be able to question our beliefs. Anyway, there has to be repentance. Praying doesn't save you. It is repentance. Honestly if someone who has murdered several people, etc. has come to Christ, he will be the best dang Christian ever, because he truly understands grace. Look at the Apostle Paul, he killed a lot of the early Christians, until Jesus appeared to him in a vision, he became the best dang missionary ever. That man understood forgiveness and grace. That is the love of our God. If you repent (or turn away from sin and toward God) you are saved. Not if you pray a certain prayer or be baptized. It is a heart change. |

Jason will return to answer more questions eventually or at a later date, in the mean time I will answer based on my knowledge. We are answering your questions honestly and backing our opinions with information from the bible. I remind you to please be respectful and patient as we try to get to all of your questions. Anything that is not a question about Christianity will be ignored and possibly deleted. |

This thread is not a place to express your opinion on religion. This is an AMA about Christianity specifically. |
