Duff began to back away at a quicker pace. “I don’t want to go with you! I don’t know you!” Duff turned his head to look at Zoe when she began to rant, then accidentally stepped on the body of a dead bird as he continued to retreat and jumped. The combination of Zoe’s French and his stepping on the dead bird frightened him so that he lost his balance when landing from his jump and fell backward onto the ground. “Leave me alone!” he trembled and whimpered, trying to scoot away. |

Zoe fell to her knees and began to cry. She was a fragile thing, especially when it came to the current past events. "Ohh, ce qui suis moi à faire?!" She sobbed, looking at Somerled in fear, "You're going to take me away...You're going to take me back to France and get me in trouble...I don't wanna...! Je ne veux pas à, je ne veux pas aller de nouveau à la France!" [[Ohh, ce qui suis moi à faire?! = Ohh, what am I to do?! Je ne veux pas à, je ne veux pas aller de nouveau à la France! = I don't want to, I don't want to go back to France!]] |

Seeing that Zoe seemed to share his fear, Duff followed the instinct of forming cliques by scooting closer to her to huddle and cower with her. He hoped that joining her would help to protect him, for some reason he feared using his powers. “Why are we going to Fwance? Don’t take me back to Fwance!” he cried, partially mimicking Zoe out of confusion. |

Sens didn't like where this was going. It was one thing to tell them nicely they were going to a new home, it was another thing to see two kids rolling around on the ground, one speaking French, and the other mimicking her. "Somerled, the Manor sent me, you can go home, I've got this. Logan stay here." She walked over to the little girl, picking her up gently. "We're not taking you to France. we're taking you to a place for people like you, with powers. you too Duff." She looked at Logan, he knew what he'd have to do. She brushed the dry grass off of Zoe's skirt and handed her her doll, which had fallen from her hands. "She wants you to know you won't be going to France, and not to worry about the Lady you shocked." The doll was grotesque, and scared Sens a little but it seemed to dearly love this little girl, Zoe. It had a scary quiet sort of voice. Sens looked at it for a moment. "Ready to go home?" |

As she was picked up, Zoella lowered her head and whimpered a bit, frightened of the new person. Still, she was acting very kindly towards her, so Zoe did not retaliate and electrify the woman as she took the doll back. However, the blonde never knew who was really on her side and who was telling lies. Older people tended to say things that weren't true a lot. Zoe kept still, wide-eyed with confusion. She kept her hands on Joli and refused to let go, since the young woman now seemed intrigued with the dark doll. "U-Um..." A place with people who have powers? Like her? She didn't know a place like that existed. Apparently though, it did. Even through mixed feelings, it seemed like a pretty nice thought. In fact, she didn't dislike the idea. |

Duff stared up at them from his spot on the ground, confusion showing in his face. Now, there were four people here, two of which seemed determined to bring both him and this girl, who he did not know the name of, to this ‘Manor’. The two also knew his name, which he was nervous about, and knew about his ‘powers’, which no one was supposed to know about. He bit his bottom lip, not knowing what to do. Logan, however, did know what to do. He let out a silent sigh, ruffled his hair a bit, and approached Duff. “So, are you going to come with us, or are you going to just sit there?” he asked, looking down at him expectantly with his arms crossed over his chest. Duff’s attention was shifted to Logan, who he looked up at with wide eyes. “Um... um...” he muttered, looking like a fish gaping for air. Logan just barely resisted rolling his eyes at Duff’s behavior. “Look, it’s not that hard. All you have to do is come with us, and everything will be just fine and dandy.” He waited for a moment for a response from Duff, but not getting one, decided to add to his statement. “Everyone there is like you, so you’ll fit in great. And you can go outside whenever you want, and...” he looked at Duff’s outfit “you get to wear what you want.” Duff contemplated for a moment, silently, looking a little distressed. “But, but, what about Daddy?” he stuttered in his odd little voice. He shook his head vigorously “No, no! I wanna stay with Daddy!” he whined, frowning deeply. Logan feigned disappointment. “Well, in that case,” he began, giving a fake sigh, “I guess I can’t do anything to change your mind.” He looked down at Duff with false sadness. “Come, your ‘daddy’ must be worried. I’ll bring you back to him.” He held out his hand to Duff. Duff, being gullible, was fooled by Logan’s act. “Okay...” he said, taking Logan’s hand and allowing himself to be pulled to his feet. He was still very confused about the situation, but was convinced that it was going to be over and done with now. Logan looked at Sens, nodded his head slightly to one side, and gave Duff’s hand a little squeeze and shake, communicating his actual intentions silently. “All right then, let’s go already!” |

Sens took the little girls hand, softly, to show her again that she didn't mean harm. "Come on, Logan bring duff as well." "If you have questions please don't be afraid to ask. We'll answer", she said quickly. Leading them out of the park she made her way to the road. The woods, as always in this little town were not far off, and as she told herself, if they got far enough into them, the children would get lost and probably wouldn't get home easily if they tried to run. They'd be found easily enough. Her arm swung at her side as they walked the paved road in the direction of the market, getting nearer to the woods. Once in a while she looked down at the girl and back toward the boys. |

Duff looked about wide-eyed at the scenery as they walked, index finger in his mouth. He was frightened; he was sure they were not going where Logan had told him they were going. “Where are we going?” he asked hesitantly, looking up at Logan. Logan didn’t look at him in turn. “I’m taking you to your daddy, just like I said. It’s not much farther now, Duff, don’t worry,” he lied in a coaxing voice, continuing to walk. Duff looked around again, unconvinced. “But, this isn’t the park… Daddy was at the park with me….” Logan did look down at him this time. “Yes, he was at the park with you, but he’s left already. I’m taking you to him now.” “But….” Duff didn’t know what to do. He didn’t believe Logan was actually taking him to Euan, but he didn’t know where this was, or how to get back to the park from here. What was he to do? What would Euan think if he wasn’t where he left him? He had to do something. “I don’t believe you!” he shouted, beginning to try to wiggle out of Logan’s grasp. “Hey, cut that out!” Logan demanded, tightening his grip on Duff’s hand. |

As they made their way, it was not uncommon for Zoella to turn her head backwards in Duff's direction, sharing the same yet less upset confused look as he was. She then would look back, up at Sens with wide eyes, displaying a sense of curiousity mixed with expectation that this 'place' was a lie. "Are...We going to D-Duff's daddy?" She asked Sens, trying out the name she'd heard a few times now. "That other boy there, he said we were." |

This was not good. What was she going to answer. Too fragile, and she didn't want to lie to this kid. She looked down at the girl, and told her sincerely, making it so that Duff couldn't hear. "We can't Zoella, if we let him go, people will find us, and they can hurt him. They could hurt us too, they could hurt you. You ran away from France right, shocked a maid, that's what Joli and Fleur tell me. Think about it, if you went back what would they do? We're trying to take both of you to a place where you're safe. We'll take care of you, you'll have a family and friends." She wasn't certain how to treat this kid, she was scared, and as much as she was used to sweet talking mechanical beings, children and live things were different. She bent over and gave Zoella a hug. "He'll be scared, we all are when we runaway from home or get kidnapped, and he'll miss his father. I miss my mum, I should know." She looked back at Logan, hopefully the boy wouldn't be stupid enough to aggravate the shadow boy. She could only hope he could manage to calm him down, they did't need something bad to happen, it would be a bad time of day. |

"Let me go!" Duff whined, not giving up his attempt to escape. "Hey, kid, I said cut that out!" Logan said, resisting the urge to shout. He grabbed Duff's other arm, trying not to be very ruff, in an attempt to control the child's struggle. "No! let--me--GO!" The palm of Duff's hand lit with a blackish glow, and he pressed that hand on the exposed flesh of Logan's arm. Logan shouted in surprised pain, and let go of Duff to step away and protect his burning skin. This gave Duff the chance to start running, which he did. He ran in a random direction, not knowing where he should run. "Hey, come back here!" Logan shouted after him, rage showing in his voice as he pursued the running child. |

From the hug, Zoella felt a sense of warmth she hadn't in a very long time. People had always distanced themselves from her, and never told her much truth. This woman, however, gave Zoe a feeling of openness. She slowly nodded, then looked back to see how the two boys were doing. It seemed Duff had been struggling to get Logan to let go when that dark aura came from his hand. It frightened Zoella a little, she backed up a bit closer to Sens as she watched Duff run away, Logan pursuing the younger boy. Zoe looked up at Sens, then back at the scene, unsure as to what to do. |

"Oi" mumbled Sens biting her lip. Logan, he probably knew what to do. but, illusions didn't always help, especially if he hadn't seen the father. If only she had her bag, or rope, or something. A robot would be nice. "Great, now we have to catch him, in broad daylight no less." Her face reflected a very frustrated train of thought. This train probably started at: Child running away from the two non aggressive powered kidnappers, and stationed at: What if Zoella can"t run fast enough. No use standing around, she tried to give an explaining look to Zoella, Clasped her hand around her wrist and started to run after the boys, "Let me know when you can't run anymore." Worst came to worse she'd carry Zoella on her back. "Try to figure out a way not to have him attack us if at all possible." she yelled at Logan, Duff out of earshot again. "You kids like candy and ice cream and stuff, "She shook her head, "Worst idea I could come up with. I sound like an un-educated adult." |

By this time, Zoella had gotten the gist of what was going on. Duff was running away. The nice lady and the other boy needed to catch him, or something bad might happen and Duff might get hurt, but Duff doesn't understand that. Duff might get hurt. Something Duff likes. Birds, he seemed to like the birds at the park. Now Zoe was a smart child, and realized that he needed to be distracted by something. The nice lady said that they all had powers...Maybe those two had powers, too. Powers to create birds? Maybe Duff wouldn't run away, then. "B-Birds!" The blonde yelled, running alongside Sens and trying to keep up. "Duff likes...Birds!" Edited by Zoella Rye, Jun 28 2008, 04:24 AM.

Logan looked back at Zoe for a moment. “Birds? Will that work?” He doubted it would, but there was nothing to lose by trying. With a bit of concentration, he created the illusion of birds flying out of the surrounding trees and bushes. Black birds, for he wanted to conserve his energy and any other color was more difficult. Duff immediately caught sight of the feathers, and ran in their direction. Feathers, birds; birds were his friends, they would show him the way out! He followed the birds were they flew, moving his own wings inside of his shirt wishing that he could fly away with them. Logan looked surprised at what Duff was doing. “Is he following them, or am I stupid?” |
