Abby frowned, her green eyes darted to the stands and the crowds of people. Dirty. It was her last day at Greave and her impression on the first day she came here, was not much different than now. The town was simply dirty. It was old and definitely not a suitable place for young, noble girls like Abby. She glanced at her sandals, the mud on the floor ruining her perfectly white, spotless footwear. Her brows furrowed even more when she noticed some mud on her ankle, almost immediately, she grabbed a tissue from her pocket and wiped the demonic brown substance off. All of a sudden, a puddle of cold water- no liquid splashed onto Abby's white outfit. She was horrified when she saw her white tunic, which I must say, cost twenty nine dollars, the capris costing fifty five and the beanie- let's not want to go there, shall we? The culprit was running away now, Abby felt her heart accerlerating with anger. How dare he? "Hey!" she shouted. The culprit disappeared into another crowd before Abby could shout some more. She stubbornly stomped her feet, the contact with the concrete making her howl in pain. "Ow!" Abby exclaimed before scowling, she crossed her arm. "Stupid." |

Sens was flitting about in the crowd, rather stiffly without her usual fluid movement. She was wearing one of the only pairs of clothes from an expensive seller the Cathriss children had ever stolen. And good god was it itchy. "This kid will be a hard catch without the right materials," was what Somerled had said when he gifted her with the overpriced outfit. The blue dress was embroidered in such an atrociously pricey way, and her vest was made of some sort of material that changed color in the light, tafan, tartan, something like that. Abigail wasn't very hard to find. White clothes, and rich mannerisms shined amongst the common folk in the open air market. Slinking toward the screaming girl, she reached out and linked her arm around Abigail's, leading her way from the crowd. "Good day, Abigail." She kept walking in a straighted posture. "You should know a girl of your stature should be in a more kept place, not around filth like this." As much as it hurt her to say that, she kept up her facade. Now all she had to do was keep Abigail with her. As for how she knew her name, Abigail may as well fill in the details. Hopefully with the way she was dressed, Abigail would think she was an escort or some such. All she needed to do was get her out on the main road, and then Copper would swoop down and get her. |

The motion was so quick that Abby hadn't noticed until the girl started talking. She found herself keeping in pace, unknowingly drawn to the girl. This sort of contact- linking arms was unfamiliar to Abby, yet she liked it. Back at home, Abby didn't have any friends. She was constantly alone and this girl- The girl could easily just put her arms through Abbys'. swift. Just like that. Abby wanted to cry, she was jealous. The dress the girl was wearing caught her interest and the thought was soon dismissed as she studied it. "You should know a girl of your stature should be in a more kept place, not around filth like this." Finally. Someone agreed with her. Abby couldn't help but smile, she was a princess. Abby didn't need to give a second thought on who the girl was, she was probably an escort. A person, maybe a maid dressing especially nice today just to pick her up. Abby couldn't wait to get back home, Greave was simply too boring. "Agreed, I can't wait to go to Russia, it's certainly more entertaining than dirt fields like this. I feel sorry for the people in Greave, they have absolutely no future at all." Abby said. |

"Oh yes, your trip to Russia, I almost forgot. Your bags are packing the truck of the car, You'll get out of here soon enough." Sens said obediently, and under her voice remarked "Greave is the future, little girl" They had finally gotten out of the crowd, and were walking towards the road. "Abby, aside from Greave itself, how was the visit to your father? I understand that's why your mother sent to have you picked up.I apologize if I'm overstepping myself." Sens of course already knew, How could she not? "Are we going to have fun turning off the things this girl has in her darling little purse?" asked the screwdriver silently from her dress's back pocket. "It's itchy back here, couldn't they have washed this thing better." "Quit complaining," she told it silently. Her arm was starting to feel as if it was burning where she held Abby. She wasn't sure if it was her disgust with Abby or the dress, but she kept going. The road was only a little bit up ahead. The crossed it nearing the large trees that bordered it with only a nod from Sens in the directing of the supposed car. Stopping abruptly she clasped Abby's arm in closer to hers, and made herself look scared, staring right at the spot in the forest where Cooper was supposed to be waiting. Hopefully he'd realize it was time to play his part, and because of the grip Abby wouldn't be able to get out of her arms until she was plucked up by Cooper. |

Abby's green eyes narrowed, her brow furrowing when the maid asked of her visit. She frowned slightly before saying. "Awful. I hate my father. I hate Cordilla. I hate Greave." She paused. "They're planning to give birth to a baby. A baby! What about me? The baby's going to steal John away! He is my father! My father! That Cordilla is a disgrace too! I don't get why my father would marry such a ridiculous woman! She is ugly, fat and has no sense of table manners whatsoever! And she says she has royal blood. Pish!" Abby exclaimed. The anger in her voice reflected on her actions, a small shard of ice formed inside her palm, Abby immediately made it melt, she hid her hand from the maid. Maybe Cordilla wasn't a disgrace. She was. Even now Abby could not face the fact that she was different. She frowned again and wiped the water on her capris. Suddenly, Abby felt her arm being gripped onto, her eyes widened in fear. "W-wait! W-what are you doing? W-where!" she gapped. Cooper was never the one to be the villian, even when he was at school. Well yes, he dropped out and yes, he was and still is a delinquent but that didn't mean that he was evil. Running a hand through his thick black hair, Cooper squinted. He could see Sens from where he was standing, quite clearly too. The girl beside her- Cooper frowned, he cracked his kunckles before taking a deep breath. Was he ready? Cooper shoved the thought out, yes. He was. He made his way through the bushes and approached them. Smiling ever so slightly, Cooper opened his mouth to speak. "Lovely day isn't it ladies? Oh by the way, Sens, you look terrific in that dress. Abby is it? It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Cooper. Let's go, shall we?" he said and placed his hand on the girl's shoulders. With one swift motion, Cooper picked the girl up and swung her over his shoulders. |

Sens noticed Abigail pull back her hand, trying to his her power most likely. Once Cooper had Abigail thrown over his shoulder she remarked, "You don't need to hide that from us, we know, and we're just like you. Welcome to the family." She nodded at Cooper's compliment, and waved her hand beckoning him to come as she walked into the woods. The dress was too long and she had to grip it up near her thighs so it wouldn't catch anywhere. Every so often she looked as Abigail, trying to hide her pity. The girl may be a brat, but her life was changing, for them the better, for her the worse. Hopefully she'd manage some sort of integration. It would be kind of sad to see her trapped there because she couldn't change. "Cooper, if she wants to you can let her walk by you, no need to keep her on you shoulder. Just make sure to hold her." "Abigail, my name is Sens and this is Cooper, feel free to ask questions." She kept walking on. It didn't seem much like her to be nice, but she didn't have the real capacity to be nasty. "Did we keep you waiting long Cooper. I hope you didn't get bored." The brush was thick and she had to stop and move it so it wouldn't scrape her legs. The dress had probably not been the best thing to steal, what she wouldn't do for a good pair of pants. "We're going to Cathriss Gate, it's a manor in these woods where a number of children like us live. You'll have food, a place to sleep, clothes, and hopefully some friends. it'll keep us all safe if you're there instead of out in the world right now." |

Abby screamed as she was turned upside down, the man's shoulder was digging uncomfortably at her stomach, she hissed angrily. Sens, Cooper, All types of information was being thrust at her, Abby scowled trying to register everything. The blood was rushing to her head, Abby felt like she was suffocating, she kicked and screamed. "Let me go you dirty-" a string of nasty words followed. Not only did Cooper find the girl an absolute brat, she was one of those rich, brats. Flipping her back to her feet, Cooper placed an arm on the girl's shoulder, gripping on it tightly to prevent her from moving any where. "No I didn't wait long Sens mi'dear." he said. Abby crossed her arms, she stomped heavily on the ground only to be covered back with mud. "This. is. absolutely. obsurd. You. watch. My. mother. will. definitely. get. to. you. all. she. won't. let. you. get. away. with. this." she hissed again. "'we're just like you. Welcome to the family." The thought lingered in Abby's mind, she dismissed it, refusing to believe it. It couldn't be true. It just couldn't. "I. don't. care. all. i. know. is. you. guys. are. a. bunch. of-" the string of words returned. |

Sens stopped and pointed a finger. Her face had lost all expression of pity and whatever form of understanding she was trying to feign. Her voice kept a regular tone, she wasn't screaming but it sure was firm. "I did not stay years in jail, and come to Cathriss to babysit stupid little girl's like you. Calm down and stop that idiotic cursing. You're Mummy's going to come to get you out? Fine then, I hope she doesn't mind finding herself in a swiss laundromat or the beach in Argentina, because the plane ticket back will cost her, not to mention if she keeps trying to come get you. You'd better hope she cares more about you than her money." She turned back around. No arrogant graces, she didn't make a show of putting herself above Abigail. "And if so, you're life won't be much different." Something about this girl kept her from going completely insane. The way that Abigail behaved showed how fragile the rich folk etiquette was. The girl was so closed minded that she continued that feeling of pity that she had. She looked at the mud all over the girl, they wouldn't get Veran to clean that, it'd never come out. They'd have to find something that fit they girl when they got home. "Thank you for keeping your head Cooper. I know she's exasperating." She didn't so much say it to spite Abigail, as she just didn't pay attention to how she would react. "When we get home, Cooper can take you to get a warm meal. Cooper here will be watching you while you stay at Cathriss, attempt to not be so rude, please, Abigail." |

The girl- Sens had just called her stupid. The shock, not to mention the hurt was clearly shown on Abby's face. She blinked, feeling the hot tears submerging into her eyes. Nobody. Not even her father had dare called her stupid. Not Cordilla. Not her butler. Nobody. And yet. This girl. Who so easily linked her arms through Abby in the first place- could just. No. Abby was not going to allow that to happen. "You'd better hope she cares more about you than her money." Abby shook violently, her emotions a mixture of both anger and sadness. Her mother was not going to come. Nobody would come. Because nobody cares about spoiled old Abigail. The tears dropped, whatever Sens had said, Abby did not care. "W-what do you know?! Y-you, you aren't the one who has never received a birthday present before! You aren't the one who spends her birthday alone. You aren't the one w-who eats dinner alone, y-you aren't the one t-that" Abby could not continue, she was hyperventilating and she didn't care. Cooper frowned, the girl was the one who was rude in the first place. If they weren't in the middle of nowhere, he would've given Sens a hug for standing up to her. His brows furrowed when Abby started to cry. Jesus He thought to himself. "Sens.." he said quietly. God. Why were girls so...vulnerable? |

"No, I was the one who had an older mother, didn't have enough money but to feed and clothe myself and had to work to make it. But I've got to say girl, I can't hate you, so you can keep trying. I admit I came out happier in life, even being that filth on the street." Her voice, just like it had been before lacked anger. She kept walking. Her eyes closed for a second and she sighed. "It's alright Cooper." Then she turned around, she lifted Abigail's face. It was blurry with tears, puffy and red. She really was just a spoiled little child. She took Abigail's hand gently, "Come on." She tugged it gently. "When we get home we'll have a big meal, all 20 something of us eating at one table. It's good food, fills you up quick. An' your birthday, you tell us when it is and we'll get you anything you want. Isn't that right Cooper? You may not like us now, but we're a hard bunch to get rid of I'm sure of that." She smiled. Hopefully, this girl could redeem herself somehow. Dragging her a little at first, with one of her hands still holding up the dress Sens continued through the mud, trying to find the good tree roots to walk across and avoid getting those stupid expensive shoes of theirs dirtier than they were. "Trying to pretend she's one of us are you?" Whispered the little voice from her pocket, "You were always better at talking to things that couldn't harm you back. But it may just be working. At least all she's doing is sobbing, flailing would be a bad situation for all of you." Sens face fell for a moment, he was right. If she could convince herself that everyone wasn't alive couldn't do more than taunt her, couldn't do more than sob in her face, then she'd manage to get somewhere with people. She only hoped that Abigail was too tired to try something drastic. |

Abby's heart sunk with guilt as she heard Sens' short biography, she started getting hicups. Her eyes stung and Abby suddenly felt very tired. It took Abby really unexpected when Sens took her hand. It felt warm- loved The feeling lingered on as Abby's heart softened a bit. Her green eyes brightened and Abby couldn't help but smile. "When we get home we'll have a big meal, all 20 something of us eating at one table. It's good food, fills you up quick. An' your birthday, you tell us when it is and we'll get you anything you want. Isn't that right Cooper? You may not like us now, but we're a hard bunch to get rid of I'm sure of that." Sens had just said home. Home. They were going home! The hicups came to a hault as Abby thought about the big feast. Was it really true? Will she be able to spend her birthday with other people? Will she finally be loved? Abby remained silent, following Sens wherever they were going. A smile spread on Cooper's face, he couldn't help but chuckle. "That's right Abigail, we'll give you a party on your birthday, bake you a cake, send up a bouquet of flowers and you'll be loved there. We all, are just one great big family. Just give us a chance, love." |

"Right, and we're almost there, look the woods are thinning." To Sens the usual sight of the manor and it's stone walls peeked out from behind the foliage. "Well, here it is, home," she said as they stepped past the stone walls, the things that usually put the children under the manor's control. "Cooper can show you around, I'm sure you''ll meet some of the other children in no time." She wasn't sure whether to walk about with them or not. She didn't have much to do, "These are the grounds, they extend around back of the manor too. You are allowed off, but Cooper has to go with you. Make sure to go read the rules in the library." She kind of hoped she'd find some better clothes soon. She stopped over to take off her shoes, and set them on top of the stone wall to dry, she'd come back for them when she could crack the mud off, till then any bit of sunshine would be good. The vest she'd taken off as well, leaving the dress on it's own. She would probably need to go to her room and get a change of clothes. Edited by Sens Parri, Jun 27 2008, 04:34 AM.

Abby nodded weakly, she was tired and a bit sleepy too if you didn't mind. She no longer felt the wet mud covering her capris, even the ridiculous large trees couldn't surpress the heat she was feeling. Her green eyes scanned her surroundings. The building- manor did Sens say? Looked friendly enough. Abbys' eyes were drooping now. "There are rules?" she mumbled to no one in particular. Cooper chuckled. "Yes, there are." he said and patted the girls' head. Maybe this kid wasn't that bad. Abby found herself leaning toward Cooper, her weight mostly on him. "Thank you.." she whispered. "Thank you Sens." |
