After some time and a bit more traveling, Kuristoph finally found his way to civilization. As if this was something one could call civilization.

Trading tents and beat down homes as far as the eye could see. Almost every person working in one was Nao-Kira, but there was many species from all over the world here looking to trade and offer coin. Some for exotic items, items that are illegal elsewhere... and for Nao-Kiran slaves. Something that Kuristoph didn't quite understand was going on yet.

"Wow... this culture is much different than the humans," Kuristoph noted to himself as he walked through the market.

He couldn't help but click and whistle in his native tongue while talking to himself. It was very high pitched and got him many strange stares from people in the crowd. He noticed, felt embarrassed and lowered his head while walking away. Not something he'd be doing in a crowd again anytime soon.

Adam strolled along the streets, taking in the strange sights. Well, strange to him at least; to the locals here he was probably the strange one. The entire area was chock-full of Nao-Kira, a kind of lion-people (tiger-people?). He was a little uncomfortable, to say the last, not because he was racist (specie-ist?) but because of the 'felinity' exuded by these people. His human instincts kept ringing from proximity with certain mammal predators, which includes lions (or tigers).

From what he gathered, this place was like the Clearwater of the Cities or the Renfield of the Skylands - a great place of trade and commerce. Which certainly means more interesting people, and even better, more interesting gadgets and likely knowledge.

As he walked, he found his eyes settling easily on another strange sight, a merman with extremely long dark hair who suddenly began whistling and stopping. Adam chuckled for this was a similar habit he had when he was not thinking, and he recalled the last time doing it at a not-very-appropriate place.

As his eyes made contact with the merman - and it would be easy to considering that he was a human out of place in this market - he chuckled again, nervously, attempting to decide if he should break eye contact and run.

Kuristoph lit with glee when he made eye contact with the stranger. This was a good sign for it wasn't an awkward judging stare like he was getting from others. It was the kind he'd get from his fellow Nokken in his home town. Inviting, warm and familiar, as if beckoning one to converse and socialize.

Maybe he was just reading too much into it and maybe he just couldn't read Nao-Kiran body language.

It was more likely that he applied the body language of his own people onto humans too much. They were very close aesthetically and have many of the same features from a distance. He's also had the best luck with them so far, so he found them the most appealing to ask for help and direction.

"Hello!" he called, waving an arm at the man he made direct eye contact with for a bit too long. "I was wondering if you could help me, I am lost," he said, approaching the young man.

One could say... he's a fish out of water.

Ha... Ha. Ha.

Just as Adam made the decision to, perhaps, slink away and avoid interactions, the fishman made the first contact with a plea for help. Unfortunately, Adam was not one to avoid helping someone despite his passiveness. He was not a knight in shining armor - far from it - but he could not in his good conscience avoid helping someone not if he could help it.

Unfortunately, he was quite lost as well; or at least, he was not familiar with this place.

"Is there anything in particular you may be looking for, uh. Mister?" He ventured forward. "I'm not exactly familiar with this place, nor am I lost but maybe I might have seen something that you may be looking for."

Philosophically, one may be considered not lost if one did not have a destination in the first place.

Yup.

"Oh, um. Well. I am looking to see all the different places in the world. Where would I go to find a boat or um, is it called Air Ship to travel?" Kuristoph asked plainly, skipping introductions for a moment. "Wait, I am sorry. You may call me Kuristoph... what can I call you?" he inquired even further.

Adjusting to the language of the land has been trifling for him. His native tongue was mostly clicks and whistles. Sounds that most surface dwellers would have trouble with save the Ekahu. Learning terminology and names of things have been the biggest hurdle. The basic structure of how the language worked was something that was taught among his people. But there were just so many words.

"Oh hey, I came from an airship actually! Did you... did you not come here from an airship?" Adam faltered a little. Did this guy actually swim here? Or maybe he traveled by land? Adam was quite a fan or airships and loved to use them to travel, though that also meant that he spent most of the little coin he earned on jobs. Oh well.

"Oh right. You can call me Adam, Mister Kuristoph - wow that's a mouthful," He blabbered, slightly to take the stranger's attention off his previous blunder. "Are you here for anything in particular? Or just using this place as a transit to get to another place?"

He pointed at the dock a distance away, where an airship would have been docked but currently empty waiting on the next ship to arrive.

"If you're taking a look at the Skylands I can help you find your way, I'm pretty familiar with those over the earthside places."

"Oh no, I walked here from Clearwater," Kuristoph nodded. "There was a, oh... what's it called, Sand Storm?" he asked, unsure if he was correct on the terminology still. The Ekahu he traveled with was a strange man that had a very strange way of speaking. So he had to second guess everything he learned.

"Skylands?" Kuristoph tilted his head. "I am unfamiliar with these... lands are in the sky too?" he asked almost as if he didn't believe it. "I would love to see one," he said, agreeing to Adam's offer to help him find his way.

"Thank you Adam."

"Oh Clearwater! That place is pretty... uh, rad. Yeah. It's like the planetside version of Renfield, except maybe bigger."

Adam paused, then squinted at the fishman.

"You walked? How did you... Wow," He ended simply. Adam could not imagine walking any sort of long distance, he was sheltered yet not privileged at the same time. Perhaps the right word would be closeted, for he had clearly not seen enough of the world.

"Yes, skylands! Lands in the sky! Floating platforms!" He began, excited. It was a human pride sort of thing, and to be honest even if it was not human-engineered it was pretty damn cool anyway. "The biggest one is called Earthstar Skylands, it's sort of my home."

He did not really have a home, but if there was one place that seemed the most like it, it would be Earthstar. It was a sentiment shared by many other humans.

Gesturing at the various vendors hawking their wares, he prodded, "Do you want to grab anything before we leave? If not we can go to the airship docks and get ourselves a ticket over to Earthstar - that happens to be my next destination."

"No, I am merely observing. Trying to take in all that I can about my new world," Kuristoph explained. "Let us be on our way, I wish to see these floating sky lands. Platforms in the sky. It sounds fascinating," he paused, looking around to make sure he had forgotten nothing.

"Also, I have heard many things about these Air Ships. I am greatly looking forward to riding in one," he explained with a bit of glee in his tone. "Lead the way, I will follow close behind," he concluded, ready for Adam to lead him to this dock of ships with tickets and excitement.

Hopefully he handles flying well. It can't be that much different than the water.

He hopes....

"Well sure, let us be on our way then."

With that, he began the journey towards the dock. The first thing they had to do was of course to find out the schedule, then buy their tickets accordingly. He hoped that there was enough seats on the next flight out, he was not a big fan of standing tickets. Those were honestly quite uncomfortable.

As they walked, he tried to make light conversation, "Apologies if it offends you, Mister Kuristoph, but I don't really much of your kind here."

To be fair he probably did not see much of anything anywhere.

"If you don't mind me asking, what would bring you out here? To travel? Any reasons in particular?"
