the dawn of a new morning (Dekename)

E-re-fefe

Its early in the morning that E-re-fefe wakes up. He roll over and trays to get some more sleep but it has no use, he is awake and can’t sleep any more. He can just lie there and wait for Dekename to wake up but he has no idea how long she would stay asleep, and he does also not want to wake her up. He sits straight up and in to a legged position as he watches Dekename. He grapes his ankles as he is unsure what to do. It can take a few minutes for her to wake up but it can also take some hours, and well. That’s going to be a long time sit if he is unlucky.

As it can take a wail before Dekename wakes up does he want to make himself useful. He stand up and looks at her for a moment. He does not want to leave her in the dark if she wakes up and doesn’t find him anywhere around her. “mom, I’m off to get some food” says he to at least let her know what he is doing if she is awake. He made sure to speak not too loudly so that he doesn’t wake her up if she was still asleep.

With a soft smile does he leave Dekename behind and takes a bowl with him. First will he head to a stream to drink some water and refresh himself a bit. The bowl is next and as he fills the bowl does he make sure that he collects fresh and clean water. Then does he head towards the remains of a unlucky prey and takes his and Dekenames share for this morning. In these times is it difficult to catch a good prey as the animals life in tight and close formation to protect their young ones. Any wrong move would result in a dangerous stampede that would protected the young and pregnant animals.

As he has everything for this morning does he head back to Dekename wondering if she has woken up, otherwise will he wait for her to wake up so that they could eat together.

It was a new day, and the sun god Tata-kai had already begun his quest across the veil, trying to find a fold or tear that he could crawl through to resume his fight with his brother Tontaka. His glowing heat quickly warmed the desert that was their home, and awakened the old Nao-kira Dekename, and her son. She was not a heavy sleeper, and as E-re-fefe stirred and awoke, she caught the sounds easily. She didn't move, however, a curiosity settling in and she wanted to test her son's patience. She was impressed with how long he sat and waited, but eventually he did quietly whisper that he was going to find food, and left their small tent.

He would have no trouble with getting left-over meat from yesterday's kill from the tribe member's already awake (or still rather, as many would be bedding down soon for the heat of the day), even though Dekename knew that some where still unhappy with her furless child's presence.

Once E-re-fefe left, Dekename shifted and pushed herself up, stretching out her body and loosening her muscles for the day. While there would be no moving today the old Nao-kira still made sure everything that was non-necessary for today was packed, least the order be given to move the tents to seek new hunting grounds. With the risk of other Nao-kiran tribes attacking them at a moment's notice, they needed to always be ready to leave.

Once tidied, Dekename grabbed her own bowl for water to go to the small stream nearby, still flowing from the wet-season as it would until the onset of the cold season, and the stream would dry up. It was on her way out of the tent that E-re-fefe returned, and she bent down to bump her head affectionately against his.

"Good morning my son," she said, standing back up again, "you have brought meat to your old mother, how kind of you," she added, setting the bowl down. She could get water after sharing a meal wither her child.

E-re-fefe

E-re-fefe did not know that Dekename was testing him. He may life for several years between the Nao-kira and under the warm and protective arms of Dekename, but he still has some strong human personality’s lift in him. As he headed back to his family tent does he fright a bit when he enters the tent. his mother is already up and running and her didn’t expect it. His eyes look frightened for a moment but closed very calm as Dekename head met up with his. He give a little node to let her fur slide against his forehead. As Dekename stand up again does his eyes slowly open again and gives her a warm smile “morning mom” does he replay to her. “I couldn’t sleep any more, I wanted to make myself useful” says he and gives his bowl to her together with her share of the breakfast.

after he gave his mom her food does he walk over to his spot and sits down, and keep a eye on her to see what she is doing. “mom what are we going to do” asks he. Nao-kira are more nocturnal and he pretty much set Dekename’s life upside down. Especially in the begin was it difficult for him to find path in his new life, especially with the heat of the dessert.

He digs In to his breakfast and wonders if they might have to move out again. He doesn’t really like the nomadic life, he more like to stay in a single spot. Maybe that it was still something that was left behind after Dekename was done with transforming him in to a Nao-kira. Only staying on a single spot will be too dangerous for a tribe that primarily counts cursed members.

"You did well," she assured to her son, upon his desire to be useful. He handed her his water bowl and she took only a few laps of it before handing it back. They shared the meal of meat together, and her ears were constantly rotating and twitching about, listening to sounds, alert and aware. Her ears turned fully to him when he asked about their day, and she licked her chops and thought on it only a moment.

"Today I want to take you out and train you on scouting and tracking. These will both be important to you as your duty as a man of this tribe, once you are a man, of course," she looked out the flap of their tent, "scouting helps to keep our tribe safe from the others, and to help find food and water for the tribe. It tells which way to go when we need to move. Tracking is for hunting," she clarified to her child, looking at him again, "it will tell you where the animals you need to hunt will be, and is a very important part of being a hunter.

"Both of these things require knowing the land and recognizing signs of the world around you to know where you are, and where everything else is. This is what I would like us to do today with the chief's permission."

She nodded to him, pausing a moment before returning to her meal in case the boy had anything to add to or question for their plans.

E-re-fefe

It’s difficult for E-re-fefe to sit still he specially in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. His body was not adapted to this environment like the Nao-kira are. Especially in the begin did he suffer under the sunburns and occasionally heatstroke but now that he got used to it did he know the signs and knew when to take his rest.

As Dekename tells what they are going to do does he look away as the word man fell. “I don’t want to be a tribes man” says he. He wants to for fill the greatest honor and become an adult, but. Well his human body is the problem is it isn’t so skillful like that of the Nao-kira. He had been practicing for the dance, but some moves felt like that they are impossible for him.

After he is done with his meal does he drink some water and hands the bowl to his mom, his water is her water. After that does he prepare some self to go tracking and scouting. E-re-fefe is somewhat more messy then Dekename bit he always managed to get himself ready within a moment notice if needed. He made sure to take his water back with him. Some time could he drink endless to keep himself cool and hydrated. It’s no shame that he is jealous on Dekenames body and how she and the other handle the heat from the sun.

Dekename easily noticed her boy's fidgetiness and pulled her whiskers back in amusement. He was young, and he would eventually learn, but she would enjoy his childhood vigor while it was there.

"I know my son," she says gently, abandoning the meat and bowl to slink over to the boy, attempting to catch him and wrap him up in her arms so that she could lick his hair and wash it clean of the dirt and oils, "and it will still be a while until you are ready. Until then, you stay with me and I will at the very least teach you to survive."

She turned to look him in the eye, "until such a time that you perform the dance with our tribe you are my child," she said lovingly, then teased, "is that so bad?"

She grinned and continued to try and bathe him, whether he squirmed or not. If he escaped, she would chase him, but not truly, just let him run and get his heart pumping, and to have a little fun.

E-re-fefe

While Dekemane enjoys E-re-fefe youth was it sometimes a bit depressing for himself. He enjoyed being a Nao-kiran and saw himself as one but the refection in the water is sadly enough always the truth.

He looks up at Dekename as he expect to get a warm hug from her but once he realizes that its bathing time is it already too late to escape. He trays to roll away but it had no use, she got him. He struggles as bit but gives quickly up and sinks down in to her fur. It is calming to feel her tough sliding through his hair.

He listens to her and looks back at her as she spoke. “will I still be your child after the dance? Evens when I fail” asks he and looks away. He has no idea how much time he still had. It’s easy to say that he has stage fright.

E-re-fefe lets his mom continue with bathing him before he bursts in to action and trays to do his best to her on the jaws. He pushes his chest forwards and his head back and and exstance his arms outwards before he dives back into each other and does a attempt to dive for freedom. If he escapes does he first tray to dodge Dekename within the tent before head outside out of the tent.

Her son struggled a bit, about as much as any regular cub would protest to a bath, but eventually calmed and allowed himself to be cleaned for a moment. When he asked his question, Dekename ceased her ministrations and looked down at the boy. Her ears pulled back in worry for a moment, before bending and rubbing her brow against his, "the dance will make you an adult, but you will never stop being my child. And worry not my son, you will not fail."

Rumbling softly in her chest, Dekename licked E-re-fefe's forehead, just as the boy squirmed and fought against her hold, valiantly, eventually managing to clamber his way out of her grip and run outside of the tent.

Dekename's tail twitched in excitement at the game her son was deciding to play, and gave him a few seconds head-start before herself running out of the tent after the boy. It was fun, and this sort of exercise built up his speed and agility as well as his endurance, taught him out to outmaneuver danger and prey, and how to hide.

If he so chose to hide.

There were few people to dodge around the camp, more they had to be aware of propped up shields and weapons so as to not knock them over, as well as to be careful around the meat drying racks and tanning hides, as these were important to the tribe. And of course there was making sure not to cause anyone's tent to collapse, if she could, she would give chase in a way that would steer E-re-fefe away from the camp, to ensure none of these thing happened.

E-re-fefe

E-re-fefe is pretty lucky with his bare skin. He has only hair on his head that needed to be cleaned, for the rest of his body? Well let it dry up and it could easily be washed off. In the early days was it o uncomfortable to be dressed and treated like a Nao-kira but now that he barely remembers anything of his past human life is it very normal to him.

After he asked his question did it stay silent’s as it worried Dekename. After she rubbed him with her for head does she answer him. Only as she told him that he would not fail the dance does that not take his worries away. He knew the large difference between him and the rest.

After some time does he set his thought aside and decides to play a hunter and prey game, he works himself free and takes off. Mom is much faster and better in this game as she is a predator but E-re-fefe will not give up so easily.

As he knew that he forgot his water bag does he tray to lure Dekename as far away from the tent as possible and sneaks back to their tent to get his bag. He knew the rule in the camp and got in trouble pretty often in the begin but he is now very aware of it. He evens still wears the scares from someone who thought that Dekename had not punished him good enough after their tent collapsed on accident after E-re-fefe tripped over a stick. That tribes man did still not like E-re-fefe because of his human form.

After E-re-fefe grapes his water bag does he tray to leave the camp but if Dekename out smarted him could she easily trap him in the tent.

E-re-fefe was a clever boy. A blessing, and a good trait to have, especially as a future hunter and warrior of their tribe. He had circled around in the camp, vanished between the tents and led Dekename on a winding path nearly to the other side of the grounds. It was here that she caught on to his plan and slowed slightly. His human scent was easy to pick up from all the others of Nao-kiran, so even though he had vanished from her sight, she could easily find him again.

Sure enough his scent went back to their tent, and she chuckled low in her throat. Seemed he had forgotten something in his haste to escape his bath. She could see his receding figure, still nearby but gaining distance, and she put her claws to the dirt and took off after him, catching up quickly for the longer legs she had, simply by being an adult, and a hunter most her life.

With a quick bound she leapt over her boy and landed in front of him, arms outstretched to catch him if he didn't react quickly enough and turn or duck under her.

"Found you!" she exclaimed with a wide toothy grin.
