A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

Angeles was male. That was what he had decided, what he was one-hundred percent certain of after travelling for a while, and meeting and interacting with different people. He felt this in his core, he was sure of this. And as such, he had painted his face in bright colors, adorned himself with ribbons and dressed in flashy clothing. He spent the day wandering around like this, and receiving odd looks and scorn from the Humans. But this was something he expected after his talk with Eileen. Human culture was backwards to his own, but he didn't care for their remarks. It had been a very long time since he had had this sense of self.

It was now nighttime, and Angeles was still very awake. A surge of energy perhaps from his revelation of his gender and identity. But the place where he lived was very much asleep, and wandering around the streets at night was going to cause unneeded suspicion. She he took off, and flew away from the skyland, soaring high into the air and simply flying free.

It was some time after, lost in peaceful thought, that he had spotted an island with a natural pool of water on it. Thinking it a good place to bathe, he angled his wings and dove down, slowing his decent to land on the shore of the pool only to quickly find that the pool was already taken.

To his horror.

Angeles' green eyes sat wide and unblinking on the figure floating in the water. Long dark hair wafting about gracefully in the reflected light of the moon, pale skin shining, colored scales of his body glistening and glittering like jewels. He was beautiful, and that confidence Angeles had about gender and identity came crashing down around nem.

So much for that.

Still, ne couldn't help but stare. Angeles had grown up all nir life with Valkyrie of good genetics and handsome appearance and all could not hold a candle to the Nokken floating there serenely.

It was extremely emasculating.

Angeles announced nemself with a heavy sigh, if the man didn't already know ne was there, and ne pinched the bridge of nir nose as ne worked up the gall to ask, "sorry to disturb you, mind if I come in?"

A voice came calling from above. Well, as above as one could be to a man afloat on his back in a random lagoon. Kuristoph did not recognize the voice by any means. This meant something important to him. It meant... a new person. One who wanted to talk to him. This meant learning, understanding and new experiences. This would first require him to sit up and address the person who spoke before he got ahead of himself.

"Oh!" Kuristoph sounded, sitting up with an excited look on his face. "Yes, please do join. The water is fantastic," he encouraged, feeling as though he was some kind of expert on water.

"My name is Kuristoph, what is your name?" he asked, turning to face Angeles with a shocked expression as the wings slowly made way into his line of sight. She was now the second person with wings he has interacted with. The first being... interesting. He was hoping that was a unique case with Zedj and she would be nothing like the previously feathered man. Granted she had far less feathers... so maybe that meant far less crazy too.

The extremely manly man managed to hear nem, ne appeared to have actually startled him as he sat up suddenly, yet smiling, and invited nem in. Angeles nodded, moving nemself a bit away from the edge so that ne could disrobe out of nir flashy clothes, folding nir clothes neatly and placing them away from the water. It was obvious to nem that the man was not ashamed of or sheepish about nudity, so ne slipped right into the water with a sigh, wading in to where ne could sit and be mostly submerged.

Ne dipped nir head and used the water to wash off nir makeup, a little envious that the man's beautiful sprays of color on his face were natural.

With nir face clean, ne used the water to wash away at nir arms, nir wings moving behind nem, flapping enough to get the feathers wet and then to shake the water off.

It was a an act involving quite a bit of movement, until Angeles looked at the man again and stilled.

"My name is a bit difficult to translate into Humanish, you can call me Angeles, it's easier."

Ne lowered nir hands into the water, looking at the man, "and what are you called? I understand Nokken is difficult to translate above the surface of the water."

"Angeles, reminds me of the Human Archangels. It suits you," Kuristoph said with a smile before positioning himself so that he was half submerged. "My name is," he continued, pausing for but a moment before dipping his face below water. What followed could only be described as a short burst of clicks and whistles.

"But you can call my Kuristoph. It's what I've chosen to call myself," he said with a smile, standing upright and out of the water completely before bowing respectfully to who he believed to be a female.

It would take much to convince him otherwise.

"What brings you so far out from civilization?"

When the Nokken spoke about nir name ne nodded, "yes, the humans found my name difficult to pronounce, I took inspiration for my human name from the archangels," what the man meant by 'suiting' nem was a bit confusing, but after a second ne figured he made the connection because of the wings.

He stopped suddenly when he began to introduce himself, suddenly planting his face into the water. Angeles stared, then quickly tipped nir head and submerged one of nir ears under the water, listening to the clicks and whistles. Ne had almost missed it. When he lifted his head, ne did as well, nir white hair sticking now to that side of nir face.

"Kuristoph," ne repeated as the man stood, bowed, and then asked what ne were doing out there.

"I didn't want to raise suspicion by being one of few awake on Earthstar, I went for a night flight, decided to stop for a bath when I saw water."

Ne glanced to the side and sighed. Ne had had a nice day being a man, now ne was going to go home tonight as unsure as when ne had first been diagnosed with nir disability.

"Ah, yes. Humans are very strange with their sleeping habits. Life under water is much different. Some of the best things in life are found at night where I am from. Especially when the moon is as bright and nice as it is right now," Kuristoph said with a smile, his words thought about very carefully since he was trying his best not to sound stupid with a language he was only just getting the hang of entirely.

Not to mention he didn't want to accidentally flirt with someone again.

That was an awkward mistake. It was also not too dissimilar to this moment either.

How he keeps finding himself bathing with strangers in the nude is a complete mystery.

Kuristoph agreed about human's sleeping habits, though that wasn't necessarily what Angeles had been commenting on, being naturally diurnal nemself. Ne listened to him speak a bit about what it was like in his home, and in that moment understood that he was like nem. Ne tilted nir head and tried to imagine what it would be like at night under the water, and had an image of a full bright moon, crossing the golden rings, rippling and distorted through a liquid window. Ne imagined the stars would be difficult to perceive.

"What's it like living under the water?" ne asked, "being a creature of the air, the idea is a very foreign one, difficult for me to picture."

Nir green eyes settled on Kuristoph's bright blue, sharp, almost unblinking, "with wings like mine, I would surely drown."

"Oh, it's very different from surface life," Kuristoph started with the obvious, happy to talk about his home and what it's like under water. "You feel both weightless and as though the world around you slows you down. Animals at every turn of the stone with such majestic designs that you just don't see on the surface," Kuristoph rambled, thinking back on his favorite parts about his homeland.

"I can't say much about my people... but surface societies care too much about trivial things like clothes, and all of them use things like gold wrong. Oh and you are all so obsessed with iron," Kuristoph spoke with enthusiasm about his legit confusion about surface dwelling societies.

"I do find life on the surface fascinating... but I am honestly more intrigued by your people and the Ekahu. Flying outside of the water is still a difficult concept for me," Kuristoph concluded, using that as a segway to talk about Angeles more than about himself since there is so much he cannot divulge.

Kuristoph started off with just how different his world and the surface world were, but then just as he began to vaguely explain, admitted that he couldn't reveal much, keeping up the stereotype of the mysterious secretive Nokken race that Angeles kept hearing about.

Instead he broke into things that on the surface confused him, like clothing, and the value in iron.

"I agree," said the entirely nude Valkyrie, "Valkyrie are taught at a very young age that clothing is not to be valued, and that we are just as much warriors naked as we are clothed."

Ne nodded, remembering those tests in the academy, back at an age where no one had a clue anything was wrong with nem, especially nemself.

"I can explain the iron one at least," ne began, lifting nir hands from the water to demonstrate, "see, iron in the water just rusts away, even up here moisture in the air causes it to rust and forces it to constantly be upkept. But iron was, for the longest time, the strongest metal we had available to work, at least until we created steel from iron. So all weapons and armor, and some tools and structures, were made of iron.

"So, arguable, iron is a metal that propelled us from primatives to where we are today. And as I said, steel is our new strongest metal, specifically goblin steel, and it is made from iron, so it's pretty important to us," ne dropped nir hands back underneath the water, "but, iron is readily available, really easy to find and common, so it is cheap and has little value to it, despite making up much of our daily lives. Yeah? Do the Nokken have a metal like that?"

She doubted, most metal outside of precious metals all rusted in water, and precious metals were too soft to make anything grand out of. But perhaps Kuristoph accidentally revealed that the Nokken had a metal only to be found at the bottom of the sea, strong like iron but that didn't rust, maybe. Ne doubted that ne was going to get a straight answer out of him on the matter, though.

"Flying...," ne huffed, looking away trying to put nir thoughts into words, "its a bit difficult to explain, Flying to me is as natural as swimming is to you. It's instinct almost. I was taught to fly at such a young age, I barely remember the lessons," ne looked back at Kuristoph again, "but... I imagine it's much like swimming. As you described, a feeling of weightlessness and... freedom, I suppose."
