Open to one character

A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

Kuristoph was bewildered by the sudden change of mood. Had he said something wrong? Did he make a mistake and pull a feather incorrectly? So many things could have caused this that his mind was swirling with confusion and doubt. He had to right the wrongs, he had to make sure ne knew he didn't mean it and was sorry. He had to stop doubting himself due to fear and start taking action, just like Angeles had said.

"Wait, Angeles," Kuristoph called out before getting up with an arm outstretched. He diligently walked towards nir, eyes focused only on A "I don't know if I did something to offend, but I assure you that I--whoaghur" he attempted to apologize... before tripping on a rock.

...falling in what felt like slow motion towards Angeles.

Help. was all he could think while falling.

The beautiful naked man strode towards Angeles, hurriedly speaking, talking about offense and only making Angeles more confused. Ne took a step back almost reflexively, only to almost jolt forward when Kuristoph fell. Nir arms moved to catch the man, semi-falling to nir own knee to brace his impact against nem. Ne leaned back enough to see the young man's face and asked worriedly, "gods Kuristoph are you alright?"

Worry lasted only so long though, before she realized that ne was basically embracing him, and his body was pressed against nirs. Nir heart which had raced from the shot of adrenaline when Kuristoph had fallen, now pounded at thier proximity, the feel of his skin under nir hands, nir mind began to wander about nir hands wandering. Nir hands did not though, ne merely stared at Kuristoph, lips slightly parted and golden eyes wide.

"A-are you alright?" was all nir blank mind could figure to ask, even if it was repeating the same question. Ne had to pull nemself together, get nir mind back on track. Ne couldn't be caught like some newly fledged pin-feather discovering the opposite sex for the first time.

Especially that ne didn't know what kind of gender ne actually identified as!

Angeles cleared nir throat, and refused to look down at both of thier bodies and asked, for the third time, thought clearer and more sure, "are you alright?"

The world was moving so fast for a moment creating a sensation Kuristoph had not experienced since his early days out of the water.

Falling.

It had been so long since he last lost his step on dry land. Had the extended time in the water at this lagoon messed with his sense of balance on land? Perhaps it was the sudden concern of offending Angeles that messed with him. There was no way to tell for sure. He was sure that he had fallen, but not onto a hard surface, onto something much softer. Well, as soft as a Valkyrie with a body suited for combat could be.

"Oh, uh, yes," he answered after the third time being asked now that he had got a grip on reality again. "Thank you, I lost my balance suddenly, sorry," he apologized for causing nir to be concerned. He paused for a brief moment, trying to asses his foot that had kicked a rock, making sure he could bend the largest toe without interference. After assuring he broke nothing he began to lift himself from Angeles' grasp.

"I, uh, was worried I had offended you. I am so very sorry if I did," he declared with a bowed head, not wanting to stain the fresh acquaintanceship he had just developed with nir.

Kuristoph expressed that he was alright and slipped away from nem. Nir hands were reluctant to let go, but nir grip wasn't strong, so instead nir fingers slipped along his ribs until they were bereved of his body heat, and the night air chilled nir palms. Ne stood then, as Kuristoph bowed to nem, and ne tilted nir head, questioningly.

"Offended?" ne tried to think what he had done that he could consider to have been offensive. He agreed to journey with nem, he helped nem preen, he fell down. Was it the falling down part?

"You didn't offend me," ne finally answered, still not certain what could have given him that idea. Ne played the scene again in nir mind, but then remembered everything that had transpired, and looked away past the edge of the skyland.

"We uh.... must have killed a great deal of time by now, hopefully your contact should arrive soon to take us to Hakert."

Ne was trying to distract from the topic, hopefully it worked. Ne didn't know how ne could explain nemself and nir, what had to be strange, actions to Kuristoph.

"Oh good, I was worried. You got up to get dressed so fast, I worried I had offended you," Kuristoph sighed after having the anonymous-like guilt tearing at him lifted. However he didn't have long to dwell on the cathartic feeling as the conversation shifted to his transport. "Yes, he should have been here by now. Actually... a bit ago now that I look at the sky," he said, standing up in the moonlight to gaze at the stars.

"By my guess he's actually quite late..." he said in a somber voice, realizing that he may have been abandoned. However, being naive came with the benefits of being optimistic. "I'm sure he's just running behind, he didn't seem like the kind to just leave someone here," Kursitoph assured... mostly hismelf.

"I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time," Kuristoph apologized again, turning to Angeles with a well illuminated smile.

It was because of how quickly ne had dressed? Ne thought about it for a moment and did realize that it was rather abrupt. Ne felt badly that he had interpreted nir embarrassment as his fault. Ne'd have to make it up to him, without telling him why. It was so complicated. Why did it have to be so complicated?

Ne reached for nir brow and began to pinch it when Kuristoph admitted that the contact was actually late, and made the assumption that he was just that, late.

Angeles looked at his winning smile, thinned nir lips and looked around the edge of the skyland, to see if nir eyes, known to be superior among the species, could see something he didn't, if not an already docked skyship then perhaps one on the way, betrayed by its lights.

Ne didn't see one. For miles.

"Maybe he is just late," ne offered, looking to Kuristoph again, "and it's not a bother, as I said I'm not on any kind of time schedule this night. I can spend as much time with you as you'd like," ne paused, "or need rather," ne looked away form him again, as he stood there cascaded in moonlight, and ne cursed at the tightness of nir chest and fluttering in her belly.

"Yeah, you're right. Just late," Kursitoph said in an attempt to reassure himself.

Several hours had passed since Kuristoph last said that. Mostly passed from small-talk, swimming once more, staring, awkward thoughts, and occasional moments of silence. It wasn't obvious that Kuristoph had been abandoned until sunlight began to peer over the mountains. The sky was a beautiful mix of orange, blue, purple, and red that made the stars begin to dim in the sky.

"I don't think he's coming to get me..." Kuristoph said, coming to grips with reality. "How am I going to get down now?" he inquired, looking to Angeles with eyes much like a child who had found out the truth to a lie they earnestly believed.

In truth, the contact had no intentions of abandoning Kursitoph. But there was a problem with his ship. More specifically that it was sort of borrowed without permission from the man he worked for.

And he got caught.

He was a naive young man trying to get extra coin in the middle of the night who now had to pay for his foolishness.

Angeles nodded to Kuristoph assurance that the contact was just late, and spent the next several hours with him, certain after only the first one that the contact wasn't coming. It wasn't until the dawn came, and woke nem from a short nap. Ne lifted nir head and looked at the sunrise. It was beautiful, but the realization that it brought to Kuristoph was ugly. Angeles naturally assumed the worst, that the contact had willfully and maliciously left Kuristoph on the skyland to perish.

Ne lifted from where ne had been laying, stretching, nir wings beating the air before settling on nir back, and looked into Kuristoph's pleading eyes, returning his uncertainty with assurance.

"I'll get you down," ne said simply, "grab your things."

Ne looked at the sky, noting that it was thankfully clear and the decent wouldn't be harried by a storm. There was a light breeze where they were but it wouldn't be enough to through nem off.

"I can take you to the surface or another skyland, which would you prefer?" Nir uncertainty and abashed emotions from last night seemed to have faded. In truth the fact that ne had a duty to perform was keeping nir mind focused and away from embarassing thoughts, "from there we can see about getting a ship to Hakert."

While ne could take them from the skyland, there was no way ne would be able to fly from there to Hakert's peaks. Ne was not that good of a flyer.

"...I guess you can take me to Renfield," Kursitoph said somberly, feeling like a burden, a fool, and a child. Somehow he keeps finding himself in helpless situations depending on other people. Thankfully there were strong people like Angeles able to swoop down and offer aide when he needed. It made him feel frail, but almost like there was something about him that compelled others to help him.

Sort of made him feel special.

"Yeah," he affirmed, perking up immediately before grabbing his things. He finally, for the first time, put his pants on. He followed with a shirt that was very loose and flowy, buttoning up around the neck that he seemed to leave open. "Renfield has Airships, we can take that to Hakert. Right?" he inquired, unsure how this worked.

He assumed that's how it worked

Renfield. It wasn't a skyland Angeles had visited more than once. Ne understood that it was a seedier kind of place, akin to, though not as bad as, Kunrun. Lawless, for the most part. Ne couldn't imagine why that was the first place Kuristoph would want to go, but he dressed quickly and agreed that they could leave for Hakert from there, asking about taking an airship.

Ne stared at him for a bit; particularly his plain white frumpy shirt and simple black pants. It was like putting the world's most beautiful flower into a terra cotta pot.

Ne shook nir head, coming out of nir thoughts and golden eyes focused on Kuristoph's, not certain for how long ne had been staring unblinkingly.

"Yes there are airships in Renfield," it took nem a minute to realize that was not his question and corrected nemself quickly, "I mean yes we can take an airship, from Renfield, to Hakert. Easily."

Ne wanted to smack nemself. Ne turned then and extended nir arms slightly, "alright we can do this one of two ways. I can hold you facing me, or hold you facing the ground, which would you prefer?" ne tried hard not to think about holding Kuristoph's body against nem. Had ne been an Ekahu ne could just hold him in nir claws, but nir feet were not so dexterous.
