![]() ![]() Open to one character A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come. It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone. "Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out. The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew. Edited by Kuristoph, 29/04/2018 - 10:00 pm.

"I see, so I guess it's good I avoided that place. Not all new experiences are good as I've learned," he said while taking a sip of the drink with a smile. "Although, I must say I think meeting you was a good experience," Kuristoph said before taking one of the alchohol soaked blackberries on top off and plopping it into his mouth. His eyes widened from the taste. "Oh, that was delicious, here try the other one," he exclaimed, taking it off of the top of his drink and holding it out to Angeles to try. Meanwhile, after giving the order for the food to the chef, the waiter stood in the hall watching the two with an expression of joy... and a bit of jealousy. He envied the two, wanting a relationship of his own. But he made mistakes in his youth putting him in this spot, watching the assumed-to-be-couple enjoying a 'date' together. This made him want to liven up their experience more, to make things just feel even better for the two. He was determined. |

Kuristoph noted his fortune, both in avoiding Kunrun, and in meeting nem. The last part causing Angeles to look up a bit surprised. Other than being a convenient way off the skyland when it turned out he needed one, ne wasn't sure that he should be chalking their introduction up like that so soon. Ne didn't get much of a chance to ponder as Kuristoph ate one of the berries from his drink, enjoyed it immensely, and then offered Angeles the other one. Ne looked at it, perplexed that Kuristoph seemed to be under the impression that ne had never had a blackberry before, so took it and popped it into nir mouth. It was a different flavor for sure, it was good ne had to admit. But it also only lasted as long as a normal blackberry and ne swallowed. And now Kuristoph's drink was berryless. "It was good, thank you for sharing." Ne had honestly never had the drink that Kuristoph was enjoying now, and would likely not realize nir mistake until later. "I'm glad you didn't make it to Kunrun," ne said, rubbing nir hands together to spread about the alcohol, essentially drying them, "I'm curious how far-traveled you are, what other places have you been?" |

"No problem, I like to share," he admitted, wanting others to enjoy things as much as he was. If it was good, why not let others have some too? He didn't need all of it, just a little. Kursitoph's expression changed when Angeles questioned everywhere he had been. "Oh, um, I don't have my journal, but off of the top of my head..." he paused to think for a moment. "Clearwater, the deserts of Fortuna, Earthstar, the mountains above Kunrun, actually... a lot of Fortuna, it was where I came to the surface at. But many other places I don't remember the name of right now, but I'll show you my journal when we get back to the room," he offered, having no secrets to keep. After all the journal has only been kept since he was taught how to write in Humanish in Clearwater. His instructor said the journal would be a great way to keep up with his Humanish and keep from getting rusty. |

It seemed that a lot of Kuristoph life and memory were in that book ne had seen earlier. It was probably very precious to him. Ne noted this as ne took a drink of nir milk, licking nir lips and listening to his travels. "That's more places than most people get in their lives," ne commented, setting nir glass down, resting nir chin in nir hand again, "but there's still a lot that this world has to offer you. Do you intend to keep travelling or do you wander to find a place to settle down and have a home?" Ne ceased idly tracing the edge of nir glass with nir finger and lifted it up in offering to the Nokken, "would you like to try? It's spiced with ginger, clove, black pepper, cardamom and allspice, helps cover the bitterness of the tumeric," ne set the glass down between them, he could take it if he wanted or ne would take it back, it was the same to nem either way. |

"A bit of both, I suppose," Kristopher admitted, wanting to explore the world to find the best place he could call home. "I just want to find a place I belong I suppose," he added, revealing a bit of his internal dilemma. Feeling at home was by far the most important thing for him, mostly because he had lost his twice now. Kristopher sat in silence until he was offered a sip of Angeles's milk. He paused for a moment, smiled and gladly took a sip. "Oh, how strange," he admitted, not being too familiar with milk himself. Only babies and children really had milk in Nokkwn culture... And almost exclusively from their mother during a very short window of time. "Milk is very uncommon where I am from. Very few animals produce it under water... Whales and Dolphins are the only two I can think of that do," he added, explaining the difference in culture. |

A bit of both. Ne nodded in understanding, having a similar journey nemself, but a more inward one. Ne had traveled far in that regard, and still not found that place. Ne smirked a bit when he called the drink strange, admitting that milk wasn't really a thing that was consumed where he was from, given that most animals outside of dolphins and whales didn't produce the stuff. "And I'm quite sure you don't milk those," ne said with a genuinely amused grin and small laugh. Ne couldn't imagine how one would even go about milking a dolphin or even a a tamed kelpie. "The Kuvare weren't really ones to drink it either, historically. The Valkyrie did raise goats for milk but it was for cooking in dishes, like for bread or cakes, and Ekahu didn't have need for milk, eating most of their foods whole and raw. Milk as a beverage was introduced to us by the Skree." Ne took another drink of the milk and set it down between them again, "it's still not the common beverage of choice, but after the flight from that lagoon to Renfield, it will do some good to my muscles," it was the first indication ne had given that ne was in any way sore from the trip, but ne also didn't feel bothered by the ache. It was common, ignorable, and would be gone by the time their trip was over. "What are common foods and drinks where you're from? I imagine seafood is the obvious staple, but what else is there to eat? Do the nokken ever make dishes out of surface ingredients? Such as... say... coconuts who drop thier fruits into the water, or of animals and plants that exist on shorelines? I expect that any kinds of foods further inland were... either difficult to obtain or outright forbidden." Ne spoke much more than what ne had intended for just a simple question, but this fact hadn't dawned on nem yet, nor the possible reason for why ne was beginning to open up more. |

"No, no we don't, and Kelpie milk isn't actually good for you, well, us. Nothing nutritious about it unless you're a Kelpie offspring," he said pretty confidently. In truth, that was just what people from his home said about Kelpie Milk. That it was Kelpie growth food and filled with hormones that promote strange growth habits. In truth, his culture was going through a health craze phase and lots of rumors about food was being spread around that was semi-based on fact. "Well, sea-weed is a common item. We've turned it into wraps for food, sort of what the surface people commonly use bread for. Putting other food inside it," he explained, knowing that it would probably difficult to imagine given how vastly different it was from the surface. "We use salt for a lot of things due to its abundance... and how it can actually make some things taste," he added, thinking about normal everyday stuff. "It's not a well known fact, but..." he leaned in, ready to whisper. "There are actually trade agreements with some surface people for spices that are coveted by Nokkens nearly religiously. Spices are not natural to us, so it's the most valuable trade from the surface. Probably the only reason there is contact at all between us and the surface world," he revealed, knowing that this wasn't actually a huge secret, just uncommon knowledge. What was a huge secret was that his people had considered invasion once because of the discovery of spices and tea. Edited by Kuristoph, 03/05/2018 - 08:21 pm.

Apparently Kelpie milk was not very nutritious, and was actually bad for one's health. This seemed odd to Angeles, given what ne knew of milk. Kuristoph then started on the uses of seaweed, which Angeles figured would be very important to the culture, but apparently it was used about as commonly as bread. That was intriguing, and something ne wanted to try at one point. Maybe if Kuristoph felt like sharing some of his culture, if ever he got his fill of experiencing others' Salt was another important ingredient in Nokken cooking, but apparently, since the advent of the nokken's interaction with the surfaceworld, land spices had become a lucrative trade. This was also interesting, but at the same time made sense. Give color to one who had never seen it before and he may just sell his soul to have more of it. Once Kuristoph took his break in the conversation, ne smiled and took a drink if nir milk. "Interesting, Ekahu aren't ones much for spice, given their lack of a sense of taste, but to the Valkyrie flavor is indispensable. We are very fond of spice, the more flavorful, the better. Especially spicy dishes, they're something of a competition. Being able to eat the hottest types of food or peppers makes one the better warrior," ne chuckled, "or something to that nature. There are hot pepper contests that occur during certain holidays that are just as entertaining to watch as they are to participate in." |

"Hot peppers?" Kuristoph asked rhetorically. "I'd like to try one of these hot peppers," he added, ready to try this new thing. However, the conversation was cut rather short as the waiter came out with two plates, steam coming from his tray holding the two meals. "Alright," he prefaced while setting the tray onto their table. "For the young lady," he said handing Angeles nir food. "And," he paused for effect, "One Unicorn," he said to tease Kuristoph before putting a Unicorn steak in front of the man with a baked potato as a side. The Ekahu picked up his tray, sliding a book into Kursitoph's lap and began to move away before leaning near Kurirstoph's ear to say, "Good luck." "huh?" Kuristoph sounded only for the waiter to make his way back to the back-room. "That was weird..." he murmured, looking down at a book titled Ruffling Feathers written by a name he had trouble understanding how to pronounce. Ultimately, he decided to look at it later and begin eating his meal in earnest. "Oh, wow..." he said after taking just one bite. "It melts... right in my mouth..." he proclaimed just after one bite. Kursitoph found heaven. It was Unicorn. Edited by Kuristoph, 03/05/2018 - 09:21 pm.

Angeles nodded, "when we get to Hakert they will be easy to find to let you try some," ne intended to start him off on the mild peppers and work his way up. Ne was not like some of the males in the academy, daring their friends to eat the hottest peppers first and laughing as he vomited onto the ground. The waiter interrupted further discussions of peppers and thoughts of vomit to bring them their meals, putting Angeles' roast firebird before nem and a unicorn steak before Kuristoph, then excused himself. Angeles eyed Kuristoph's steak as to check the doneness of it, approved, and picked up nir fork and knife and began to cut pieces from the bird. Kuristoph took one bite of the unicorn, and made Angeles smirk with his declaration. Ne didn't even have to look to see how much he was enjoying his meal. Ne acted casually as ne took the bite of white meat ne had cut, getting to work cutting another piece and spinning nir fork in hand to face Kuristoph, extending nir arm over the table and offered him the bite. "Would you like to try some firebird in addition to your unicorn?" ne offered with an almost teasing smile. The skin of the bird was crisp and well seasoned, and the inside was moist and flavorful, with a natural sharpness to the meat that was neither bitter nor gamey. Ne was sure that he would enjoy it, maybe not as much as the unicorn, and maybe he wouldn't like it, but at the very least he would get the experience. |
