A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

"I hope not," Kristoph laughed. "I am already familiar with the human gods. I spent a great deal of time with men of cloth learning. I would like to learn of other gods now, not Human," Kristoph declared before taking another note, showing either little interest in humanities gods... Or disdain for them.

It was difficult to tell which. In truth, it was both.

"If not, then we can visit holy places when we arrive," he said, pausing for a moment. "I mean after. After we settle in and do other stuff," he corrected, not wanting to make it sound like it was what they would do immediately.

Angeles hoped as well, for Kuristoph's sake, the church, even if it was a tourist gimmick, would be a Kuvaren church. He seemed rather disillusioned with the humanish divines. Something new, even if mostly false, would at least entertain him. Ne could fill him in on the rights and wrongs later.

Ne was mostly done with nir little bird, when ne noticed the furcula among the bones. Ne hummed and worked nir knife around the gristle, prying it free and setting it aside, before wordlessly going back to nir meal.

It was a human custom, but maybe he'd indulge nem.

"Are you almost finished?" ne asked, looking at his plate to judge the answer for nemself, "or getting full? I believe they should be fine letting us take this back to the ice chest in the room."

Kuristoph sheepishly eyed the other half of his steak when Angeles asked him if he was nearly done. In truth, he was wondering if there was a way for him to preserve this and keep it for later. But Angeles had already thought of that. Personally he would have tried to turn it into some kind of jerky, but he was having trouble figuring out how he'd go about it. Chilling it on ice made much more sense so long as they could re-heat it somehow.

"Yes, that sounds good. I am done enough, I don't want to over eat," he replied, thinking of an old Nokken saying for him to try to translate. "Plump Nokken's Can't Swim.... wait, hmm, that didn't translate right," he called himself out trying to think of a way to make it sound as proverbial in Humanish as it did in his own language. "Oh well, nevermind," he gave up, smiling as he looked around for the waiter to come to them.

And almost as if on cue, he did.

"Yes, can I assist in any way? Refills, desert, perhaps I can get the band to arrive early?" he asked, wanting to aide in any way he could.

"Oh, um, no. We're done. We'd like to return to our room with our food, to have for later," Kuristoph stated, a bit too direct with the request.

"Oh, I see. Yes, I shall return shortly," the waiter stated, heading back into the hallway into the back-room.

"He's weird," Kuristoph muttered. "But nice, I like him," he added.

Kuristoph admitted to being more or less done eating, reciting a sort of proverb that didn't translate so well into humanish. Angeles didn't care, it made sense to nem. Their, waiter approached again and Kuristoph informed him they were done and wished to bring their food back to their room.

Angeles had caught the mention of the band arriving early and ne shook nir head, "we'll likely be back for dinner, no need to trouble them."

The waiter left again and Kuristoph commented on him being weird, but nice.

Ne recalled that ne had caught the waiter basically spying on them from the kitchen, and nodded, "indeed, strange but kind. I hope his shift continues into dinner, it would be nice to have him again."

Ne looked to Kuristoph and smiled, before reaching for and finishing off nir milk, "you should finish your drink, it will be one last thing to pack and carry back to the room."

"Oh, you're right," Kuristoph agreed, turning to his drink which was still over halfway full and just straight downing it as though it were water. "Oh, that burned a little," he declared, holding his hand over his mouth to cover him sticking his tongue out as if it were desperate for air. "I guess that is what makes drinks hard?" he questioned while looking at the empty glass to help define the reasoning behind hard and soft drinks.

"I have returned," the waiter said, holding a slip of paper along with a bag and thin paper to wrap the food up in. "Sir," he said politely, sliding the bill to Kursitoph without hesitation or even asking to split the bill.

"Oh, let's see..." Kuristoph sounded, looking at the bill while the waiter wrapped the food up for them. "Here you go," Kursitoph said, handing the waiter an appropriate amount. "Oh, yes, I believe the human custom is to tip? So, um, keep the change. Unless that's rude, then, um, don't?" Kuristoph stumbled, not sure if it was customary in Ekahu or Valkyrie culture.

He looked at Angeles for assistance in this scenario but wasn't given the opportunity to do so.

"What a generous man you are," he bowed, eager to compliment Kuristoph for a very normal tipping amount. "Please, the two of you enjoy your afternoon and I hope to serve you again," he added before leaving the two alone so they could retreat to their rooms.

"Alright, should we drop the food off at our room then?" Kuristoph inquired, standing up so he could grab the bag.

Kuristoph downed his drink easily, though came back from it saying that it burned a bit and Angeles chuckled, "yes and no, the burn is just from the alcohol, a hard drink is so named because it contains alcohol, that is all."

The waiter returned to wrap their food for transport back to their room and Kuristoph struggled with the custom of a tip. He erred in that it was only a human custom, but he ended up paying the waiter from the money he deposited for the food. The waiter thanked them and Angeles smiled.

Ne nodded to the waiter when he implored them to enjoy the rest of their day, and Angeles looked to Kuristoph with a smile.

"Yes, let's drop the food off in the icebox in the room, then look for that church."

Given now that they had gotten to the cafe, Angeles was able to navigate back to their room pretty easily. The icebox was situated in the sort-of palor that was separated from the room, and ne bent to put nir and Kuristoph's food within.

"There, that will keep them cold and fresh," ne said, shutting and latching the door. Ne was glad for the invention of the icebox, it was a very handy thing to have.

"Alright, we can see about asking for direction or wandering until we do or do not find it ourselves," ne turned to Kuristoph with a bit of a teasing smile, "which would you prefer?" Asking directions, or even if there was a church would be the most efficient way. But Angeles found nemself actually wanting to spend time with Kuristoph and get to know him better. So ne prayed to Uracher that Kuristoph would choose to wander.

Out of sheer curiosity, Kuristoph had pulled out the book that was slid his way earlier and opened up the first few pages, just thumbing through to get a feel for what was in it during the last few seconds of them finding their room. He closed the book and turned it around to look at the back, opening it to see the last few pages as well and an authors note on the very last page.

He didn't understand. It used a lot of terms he was very unfamiliar with.

"I think wandering would be more fun," he said with a smile, eager for some exploration before looking up from the book and setting it down on a counter face up. "But I bet with your eyes we'll find it in no time," he said in a playful manner, a bit envious of the idea of super-vision that allowed for sight he cannot imagine.

Despite how hard he tried to imagine it.

Kuristoph was ready to go, but Angeles had frozen in place, sharp golden eyes staring down at the book he had sat on the table. Ne was almost not breathing as nir eyes widened, slightly. The title of the book was unfamiliar to nem, but the name of the author, Dr. Chooshu Kyelaw, she recognized as one of nir father's colleagues. A biologist. Of a very specific branch of study.

"Wh... where...?" ne knew he did not have that book when they went to lunch, there was no where in those clothes he could have hidden it. Plus ne had basically seen him change. Where in the world had that book come from.

Sharp eyes moved from the book cover to Kuristoph, an almost flat expression on nir face, before looking down at the book again.

"W-why...?"

Ne wasn't doing so well completing nir thoughts, given that they were racing through nir head almost incomprehensible as many emotions had flooded in to jumble things together.

Kuristoph heard Angeles speak in a very concerning tone. He looked over at her, then over to where she was looking, then at her again making eye contact now that she was looking at him. He was perplexed for a moment as to why she was so concerned, but at the very least he could answer her two basic questions.

"The waiter gave me that book and then said something like, good luck or something," Kuristoph answered, looking a bit puzzled himself. "I don't quite understand, the words in the book are all very... big, and I am quite unfamiliar with most of the terminology used," he added, scrunching his lips a bit. "I was hoping it was going to be about Ekahu culture since it had feathers in the title and he was, well, an Ekahu. But it seems to be more about Valkyrie and Ekahu women specifically," Kuristoph rambled a bit more, still not getting the premise.

"What does coitus mean?" Kuristoph asked finally, asking about one of the many words the book used that he had difficulty understanding.

Kuristoph was concerned about Angeles' concern still. He hoped the book wasn't offensive.

The waiter.

So that was why he was being weird at the cafe, watching them from the kitchen. Ne continued to stare at the book as Kuristoph kept explaining, having hoped it was about cutlue but found the book itself difficult to understand. Meanwhile Angeles was again dealing with the misconception people were having that ne and Kuristoph were lovers, or prospective lovers. Why else would the waiter wish him luck and give the nokken a book about--?

And then Kuristoph asked about coitus.

Angeles visibly took a step back From Kuristoph as ne looked at him shocked and seemingly a little afraid. Then ne looked down nervously, feeling nir face flush with heat.

"It...," ne paused. Did ne really want to explain this to Kuristoph? Was ne even qualified to explain this to him? "it's sexual intercourse," ne felt like ne could die standing right there, talking about this with a man that ne was already having tumultuous feelings about.
