![]() ![]() Open to one character A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come. It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone. "Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out. The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew. Edited by Kuristoph, 29/04/2018 - 10:00 pm.

"Oh," he sounded simply, nodding as if he understood. "Oh," he sounded once more, this time with a slightly more concerned expression on his face. "Ohhhhhhh," he sounded much more harshly as his eyes looked to the book, then back at Angeles, then back to the book. He wasn't able to look back up from the book due to his shame. Shame which was oh so obvious due to the flush of color that hit his cheeks. He suddenly understood exactly what that book was about. Even with him reading but maybe a few paragraphs from random pages it was so very obvious now that he had context. It was a scientific breakdown of mating habits and how interspecies relations or even in-species relations would work with Ekahu and Valkyrie women. "I am so sorry, I, uh," he apologized, not that he felt guilty of anything, just because he felt like an apology was needed. He looked up at Angeles, eyes glistening lightly from the rush of embarrassing emotions. Shame. It was the only emotion present in his expression. Not in the idea of being with her, but in his naivety and ignorance. |

It took three syllables for Kuristoph to get the gravity of the situation, looking from the book to Angeles and back again. By the time that his eyes landed back on Angeles, ne saw something in them ne did not want to see. Shame. He apologized, and in the time that he did, Angeles cleared nir throught softly, set nir jaw and composed nemself. "Nothing to be sorry about," ne said simply, taking that one step forward again and bending down to gracefully filch the book from the table, "it's an educational text, one that the doctor had written due to the increased amount of interaction and by extent relationships between the kuvare and other species. Many had no idea what they were doing, especially since Ekahuan anatomy is much different than most others'." Ne flipped the book open to the introduction and read the first few lines, showing that the book itself was not a problem, "humans especially are already so reserved about sexuality, he had hoped to be able to bridge some gaps and clear up some misunderstandings between our species. Though admittedly there's a bit more difficulty with getting in a relationship with a Valkyrie than anatomy alone." Ne closed the book and passed it back between them, offering it to Kuristoph, smiling casually, "it's a book written by a good man, at the very least it will be informative." |

Kuristoph listened calmly and patiently. Taking in everything Angeles had to say so that he could understand the situation better. However something still didn't sit right. He had slighted Angeles in some way unintentionally due to his ignorance. It was written on her face just moments ago. She wore an expression that he would remember for the rest of his life. He would close his eyes at night and just before drifting to sleep memories of that moment would confront him ten years from now if he didn't address the issue. And the moment Angeles passed the book back to him, he did just that. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I know it looked bad, but I didn't know. Not that I don't think you're attractive and worthy, it's just I hope you don't get the wrong impression, I mean, the waiter assumed, and I didn't, I mean I really like your company and I don't want to ruin it because of my ignorance," he said long-windedly with those impressive Nokken lungs of his. It was almost as if he was making up for the last few moments of silence in one go. |

Kuristoph stood in silence far longer than was comfortable and Angeles began to frown nervously. Then was shocked back when he just suddenly let loose a torrent of words; apology, explanation, uncertainty, worry, a lot of him stating that he liked nir company. Ne stood there a moment and blinked, beginning to worry that he was going to pass out from not breathing the entire time. But he didn't even gasp for air once he was finished. And ne stood there and blinked again, stunned. Then offered him the book back, "people have been mistaking us as being 'together' since we arrived on the ship Kuristoph. I have a feeling it's going to be something we're going to have to get used to, since it will likely continue that way while in Hakert. I'm not offended by that I'm actually," ne hesitated a moment, "a bit flattered. "You're not ruining anything and you're not ignorant. Here," ne offered the book again with a smile again, "we've just met, I'd like to get to know you better, we'll see where this goes, and just maybe the book will come in handy some day. For now let's just work on the whole 'not knowing much about each other' part." |

"Really?" Kuristoph said, finally taking a breath after going so long without doing so. "I mean, I'm not offended by it either. I just didn't realize they were, I'm not used to people making those assumptions," he added, sighing heavily after taking his breath before taking another deep one to calm his emotions down a bit more. On an emotional level, the two were completely opposite. Angeles seemed so composed, mature, and logical. Kuristoph was still a bit juvenile, vulnerable, and emotional. "Okay, I feel better. I'm so..." he caught himself needlessly apologizing again, almost apologizing immediately after for apologizing. He looked flustered at himself for a moment as he tried to figure out what to say. "Okay, lets get to know each other better and see where this goes," he said a bit more confidently, not knowing the context of 'see where this goes' fully means outside of its literal sense. He finally accepted the book back... only to go set it next to his things. There wasn't much need to carry it around with them while they went looking about. He'd probably give it a closer read at night or something. "Do you still want to go looking around?" he asked, looking at the door and back to her. |

"Really," Angeles answered seriously, though with a smile, "it's actually quiet common for when people see two people of opposite genders, or what they perceive as opposite genders, to either assume or wonder if they're lovers. It's seldom true for two people that are the same, or perceived same, genders. Those that see me and take me for a man, may assume the two of us to just be friends, colleagues, associates, acquaintances or some other non-romantically involved relation." Kuristoph felt better, and he looked it. He took the book back and Angeles moved nir hand back to nemself and rested it on nir hip. Ne was glad that Kuristoph was willing to keep going with this for wherever it ended, acquaintances, friends, or maybe, just maybe lovers. Maybe. If Angeles was lucky. "Of course I still want to look around," ne scoffed, feigning offense though ne grinned teasingly, bumping nir shoulder against Kuristoph's as ne walked past. Ne was back in a jovial mood, one not quite like nem, but ne was feeling too good, especially after having avoided a storm so easily, "let's go see what this opulent ship has to offer." |

All was right in the world. None were offended, the journey could continue, and Kuristoph owed no debts. Well, perhaps to the Waiter for the book, but Kuristoph wasn't sure he wanted to accept that as being in debt. The book almost got him into trouble. Perhaps if it turned out that the book would help him in the future one day he would return the favor to the waiter. Time would tell. "Alright then, lets go explore," Kursitoph exclaimed in an excited tone, making his way out the door and waving Angeles to follow him out. In truth, Kuristoph was not normally this much of a juvinile personality wise. But his whole demeanor has shifted since his exile. That on top of having as much knowledge of his new world as a teenager sort of set him back a few years. He used to be such a serious and solemn person. He enjoyed studying, hunting, and bettering himself overall. He hasn't acted the way he does now since his teen years. It made him feel young again and he was very aware of his personality shift. "Which way looks like the right way to you?" Kuristoph asked once in the hall since she had the better eyes of the two. |

Kuristoph was excited, and it was again contagious. He led the way to the door and led the way out of it. Angeles followed, smiling. He asked which way seemed correct to nem and ne looked down one way then the other, "well, given that the ship is seemingly designed to impress humans, I would guess that the church would be at the bow of the ship." Ne turned and began heading in that direction, nir step light. Even if ne set them on the incorrect path, they would surely find the church quickly, within the hour at the most. Ne was just making an educated guess, given the importance of religion to humans. They would want the church at the front, the most important thing, literally ahead of everything else. "Aychee," ne said to a couple of the passing Ekahuan staff. They seemed surprised by nir presence, likely due to the unlikelihood of a Valkyrie taking a pleasure cruise, but they bobbed their heads and returned the salutation. "Not to pry too deeply into things you're not allowed to speak about," ne looked to Kuristoph, "but some of the things you've mentioned as to your home makes me think that what you consider home, was not so much where it was you were banished from. i know you can't be specific, but, where other than 'water' are you from?" Ne teased a little at the end, hoping to keep things light-hearted while asking a potentially dangerous question. He could though just choose to not answer, or at least say that he couldn't. |

"Well," Kuristoph sounded, pausing a bit to think about how to word this carefully. "I am from a small community, a River Nokken more specifically," he added, not sure to describe the location in Humanish. "Not far from the where the tree peo... Spriggans live," he corrected himself as to not sound insensitive. The Nokken word for Spriggans literally was tree people. It wasn't considered derogatory by Nokken standards, but he learned that it could be by Human standards if around the kind of company who cared about the plights of other races. He didn't want to offend anyone and get banished from additional locations. "My community was no bigger than a couple hundred was, um... taken in by a larger community. We relocated far away from our homes and joined them. I can't say how large it is or really give more info on the larger community," he explained, saying as much as he could. He figured there was no issue talking about the small community he was part of since it was no longer an issue. He still has no idea what they wanted the area they lived in for. He was curious, but also scared to go near it. "Oh, is that it?" he asked, pointing to the direction of a heavily decorated hallway... on second thought, it wasn't much more decorated than the other halls. He just wasn't paying attention to where they were going up until now. In truth, he was guessing since he just sort of remembered they were going somewhere. |

River Nokken. Had to have been a deep enough river for them to live in. Ne wondered how it was that they dealt with currents, especially in the spring, unless he was from somewhere around the equator where seasons didn't really exist. But then he said that it had around Shewa. Shewa had a small part of it that remained warm mostly all year round, and didn't see much flood waters, but ne wasn't aware of any rivers large enough to hold a couple hundred people in that area. And from the sounds of it these people had been annexed, and Kuristoph and his family forced to move. Ne thought back to Valkyrien history and nodded, understanding all too well what must have happened. Ne looked up suddenly when Kuristoph indicated a hallway and ne looked it over, "I think it may be," ne agreed, stepping towards the hallway and looking down it. Ne recognized some of the designs particular to the different Rella and nodded, "yes definitely it," ne stepped forward to a pair of large double doors and opened them wide enough that nir wings could easily fit through. Despite the Rella themes, the church was designed very human in manner. There were pews facing a forward-stage, paintings of the Rella and their work adorned the walls. The glass of the thick windows were stained. The stage was set with a pulpit, and surrounding were five pillars, each set with a brass bowl, and each pillar connected to its neighbor by rope. There seemed to be no one present. "Hm," Angeles sounded, so far not very impressed with the design of things. Ne walked up to the stage and looked at the pillars, specifically the one set before the painting depicting Rella Luka, "that's the one you're probably most interested in," ne said, indicating the portrait of a very Ekahuan figure, deep blue in color, lacking flight feathers and having webbed feet. |
