A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

"You're welcome," Kuristoph said simply, feeling like he should say such since he was thanked. It was the courtesy and he meant what he said. The fact that he was thanked just meant she appreciated his words. "Rest well, if you need something, let me know," he offered, having no problem getting up to fetch something for her since it would likely be more convenient for him than it would be for her.

Not to mention she was likely more worn out than he was. At least in his mind. He couldn't imagine carrying a person for as long as she did. It must have been tough. It made him envy her strength as well as her colors. Not to mention the scars he saw made him think of all the battles she had overcome. To him, the scars were proof of her greatness.

She had the kind of strength he aspired to have. The kind that could stand up and fight for themselves... and others when the time called for it.

He easily snuggled into the pillows and bedding with a smile on his face laying loosely on his back with a slight angle that would cause him to barely be facing Angeles.

Angeles heard Kuristoph's last words and curled a bit into nemself and closed nir eyes. Ne was certain that ne were not going to be going to sleep any time soon with how quickly nir mind was racing, but nir body proved to be the victor in that battle and ne found nemself slipping into sleep rather quickly.

Nir dreams were not kind, or perhaps they were too kind. With the emotions that had been riled right before ne had slipped to sleep, it was little stretch of the imagination about where nir subconscious took nem; on a hazy adventure of two warm bodies in the throes of passion.

And ne woke with a start, nir heart pounding and nir breath going like ne had just flown several miles at full speed. Ne lifted nemself up almost in a panic and looked back to see Kuristoph laying so gracefully on the pillows, it was like an Ekahuan renaissance painting. He was so beautiful.

But ne knew that ne couldn't let nemself get so worked up over beauty alone. If ne wanted something of this ne needed to work at it first. Ne deserved better than that, Kuristoph too, to enter something for just the physical pleasures of it, based wholly on aesthetics.

Ne just... didn't know how to get nir body to get in line with the same thought process. It disagreed and seemed all for going forward for just the prettiness and the pleasure. Ne definately needed to speak to nir father, given that ne had been certain, because of his certainty, that previously ne had never felt these sorts of things for people due to the misalignment of nir sexual organs. That nir body simply didn't 'feel' attraction because it instinctively knew it was barren.

That seemed to not be the case now.

Kuristoph had dreams of home, not the home he was annexed to, but his old home. The River, the underwater cavern that majority of his community had taken permanent residence in, the people he once called friends.... only their faces were blurred. He couldn't tell the details of their face anymore. It had been so long and he had gotten used to the faces of non-Nokken's since then that he was having trouble differentiating between Nokken facial features in his sub-conscious.

Everyone just had the same blob of blank facial features.

However it was a detail he hardly noticed consciously. He didn't know it was a dream and was none-the wiser to the faults of his mind's eye. However his dream was cut short when he felt what he assumed to be a shift in a current near by that signaled a predator animal swimming by. In truth, it was a breeze caused by Angeles' movements, something his body was particularly sensitive to due to his adaptation from being under water for so long. Slowly, he opened his eyes and remained as still as possible as to not alert anyone who aimed to cause him harm.

But his fear of a threat died when all he saw was Angeles before him, which caused him to smile.

"Are you alright? Did you have a bad dream, are you cold? We have more blankets if you're cold. You can share my warmth if you need it," he offered, wanting to make sure she was appropriately comfortable and accommodated so that she could get some rest.

Ne didn't get a very long time to fight with hemself nor enjoy the vista that was Kuristoph's body, for the nokken stirred and was instantly asking about things he could do to help nem, consolation from a bad dream, blankets, his body for warmth.

Ne blinked, stunned, opening nir mouth to hastily just ask for a blanket, then stopped, eyes widening in revelation. ne recalled now, a while ago when ne had been contracted with a couple others to take care of a troll menacing a Wightan village, offering the same to a man; nir body heat. It was exactly the same, the both of them naked, granted less hypothermia was involved, and less trolls. Hell, the man had even offered sex to nem and ne had agreed, after explaining exactly nir problem of 'not feeling physical want,' to him. The two had been nearly about to copulate as an experiment to see how 'dead' nir body really was, and ne had not felt any of these feeling or emotions.

What the hell was different now!?

"Just--," ne stopped, then sighed, sitting more upright and rubbing nir face in nir hands. Dodging around this was not going to help anything. And ne could only do this dance for so long before ne risked actually damaging the relationship they already had and giving no chance for it to grow.

Ne brought up nir knees with a heavy breath, resting nir arms on them, sliding down a bit to the center of the nest, staring at a wall.

"I think I'm attracted to you," ne finally admitted, solemnly, "and... I don't know what that means."

There was a moment of silence, and a great deal of body language Kuristoph was unable to get a grip on since reading body language was not one of his skill-sets. Especially not on the surface. Nokken just moved so differently in the water compared to how people move on the surface. It wasn't until Angeles began to speak, composing herself a bit and the finally confessed that Kuristoph finally understood so very much about, well... everything.

His eyes widened not with shock or horror, but revelation.

So many thoughts raced through his mind. Could they? Should they? No, no, he's had these thoughts before back with the human girl who confessed to him before. It didn't matter. They could, that's why the book was handed to him earlier. But a different question popped up...

Did he deserve it? After all his suffered, did he deserve such happiness? Or was this the grand scheme of everything that some god or gods set out for him. Curiosity (and biology) got the better of him and his mind began to picture the thought of it... causing his body to react to said thoughts naturally. This didn't cause him much shock as it was perfectly natural and something that sort of just happened in life to Nokken.

After thinking on her words for longer than appropriate, he smiled at her and simply said, "I find you attractive as well Angeles." In truth, he didn't know what to do after this point. He wasn't sure if this was a confession or an offering...

And thus waited for her reaction.

Kuristoph was quiet for a long time, and ne was beginning to wonder if ne had just ruined it forever anyway, that maybe keeping nir silence until ne had a better understanding of it nemself would have been the better option. Nir eyes fell from looking at the wall to looking at the blankets, at nir claws where they curved into the cloth. Ne wanted to look at Kuristoph but didn't at the same time, afraid to see disappointment, resentment, disgust, or worse. It wasn't until he spoke that ne looked up to see him smiling, as if nir proclamation was the most natural thing in the world.

His body, also, seemed to be reacting naturally.

Ne felt nir cheeks burn and looked away from him again, "I appreciate that," ne said honestly, "I really do. I grew up among peers who ceaselessly used my disability, and my body, as a source of torment. I was too generic, to between to ever be considered attractive to either gender. It made me a very angry young person, I broke a lot of wings and pulled a lot of feathers out just to be taken seriously and left alone."

Ne bit nir lip, not sure that a history lesson was something Kuristoph wanted or needed right now, "eventually I just sort of accepted I was nothing and that I had to find a different purpose in life. One that at the very least would make me friends, if I couldn't ever find someone to call a lover."

Ne frowned, curling nir toes into the blankets a bit.

"I didn't think I could even be attracted to a person, I've never felt it before, I never prepared for it, and I don't know what to do. That you feel the same is comforting, and unnerving a bit, and I think it means something different to you than it does to me...," ne looked at him again, the gorgeous man that ne was laying a bit bare to, and still felt worried that he would, at any moment, just leave.

"I'm so sorry you went through that, it sounds like a rough upbringing," Kuristoph said sincerely as he reached out to her to place one hand on her shoulder. "It's difficult for me to understand why anyone would treat you so poorly because of the way you look, I can't seem to wrap my mind around that fact," he confessed, honestly trying to understand not only why someone would be so cruel, but find someone ugly for looking as she did.

"This is probably too much information... but Nokken culture is different from the others I have experienced so far," he said looking away for a moment, contemplating if he should share this or not, but decided it was for the best so that they could understand each other better. "To say that sex is approached casually where I am from compared to Humans or from what I've read, Ekahu would be an accurate statement," he revealed with pause so he could prepare his next statements carefully. "Nokkens find beauty in our bodies, all bodies no matter how they look. This is because of how diverse we are as a people," he went on for a moment, moving a bit closer to her so that he could try and comfort her better without reaching several feet away with his arm.

"You could look at a Nokken from the River, like me, and a Nokken from the Deep waters and swear they are two different races entirely. Some have super fish-like faces like this," Kuristoph paused to squish his face in to make fish lips for a moment. "Some are all bone, no fat, even the women. Not a single curve on them. You could swear their bones are on the outside... and others like me could pass for a Human in almost every way possible," he went on trying to explain how not only him, but his entire people had a love for not a specific type of beauty but instead saw beauty in all people.

"So to me, you are very attractive and demur if I understand the word correctly."

Kuristoph began to speak, first with an apology and then continued, talking about how Nokken saw beauty, and that appearance meant little to a people who were so diverse in biology. He described various types of nokken, and even gave a physical demonstration of one, which made Angeles smile a bit. Ne was also acutely aware that he had his hand on nir shoulder, and was moving closer, to sit more beside nem.

"Alright," ne said with a smile, "but, how do the nokken feel about interspecies relations?" ne started with, nir smile slowly fading as ne want on, "or homosexual relationships? Physical acts of with someone that could never result in offspring? To Valkyrie, this is the most important thing: continuing the bloodline. So relationships like these are expressly forbidden, they're wrong, to be in one is dangerous. To deny your family the continuation of thier name is grounds for disownment," ne looked at Kuristoph again, nir eyes looking into his where he now sat nearby.

"It wasn't because of my appearance they tormented me, not primarily, but because I'm incapable of producing offspring, even among my own kind. I... I denied my family the continuation of their line, and I was disowned for it so that they could try again with a new child.

"I was taken in by the Ekahuan doctor that diagnosed me with this disability, who had performed surgery to determine that I had no womb, and that what should have been ovaries to produce eggs were shriveled and useless testes. There was never a hope to use medicine to fix me, to make me one way or the other so that I could produce a child one day. And that's what I had really come to accept, or tried to; what person in their right mind would want something like me for the rest of their life? Physically neither male nor female, mentally can't even make up nir mind which ne'd want to be."

Angeles sighed, running a hand through the feathers at the top of nir head, "I figured that anyone I would feel strongly enough for, if ever, would always deserve better than that. Somthing... someone more stable and sure of what they wanted."

"That one is a hot topic in our society still," Kuristoph groaned a bit while thinking back to his people. "Same sex couples were once frowned upon by Nokkens in general, but time has since changed our views socially and have now mostly accepted it. There are still those who oppose it, usually small communities or those with a particular set of virtues that sounds much like how you describe Valkyrie virtues in that regard," Kuristoph explained, giving insight that homosexuality isn't considered as shameful as it once was, but still was rife with conflict socially.

"But producing offspring isn't a typical concern in our culture and the opinion on interspecies relationship is... basically non-existent. To my knowledge the average person doesn't even think about non-Nokken's enough to warrant thinking about entering a relationship with them, though I can imagine mixed feelings," he explained a bit more, feeling more comfortable talking about the topic with her.

"Many Nokken end up fathering or mothering offspring that are not their's due to how casual relationships are in our culture. A woman could shoot a male a glance from across the way and the two would simply meet somewhere private. Typically it's initiated by the female though, typically as an offering through body language or directly," Kuristoph explained a bit further trying to give insight to his culture so that there was less misunderstanding between them.

"If it makes you feel any better though, the concern about producing offspring is not exactly a concern for me. The population of Nokken living on the surface are so low that I'm likely to live three to four life times before I ever meet another one and the odds of them being of the opposing gender? Half of those low odds. I am bound to a life where I have accepted the fact that I can never have offspring... so your fertility is literally not a factor for me," Kuristoph finished his ramble, taking too much advantage of his lungs with long speeches.

"Sorry, my lungs let me talk a lot without taking breaths. I don't mean to talk so much..."

So homosexuality was getting to be accepted, but was not quite there yet, not like where the Ekahu were with it. Interspecies relations were not much of a discussion, yet, and Kuristoph stated that he was likely to never meet another surface nokken, let alone one that was female, for as long as he lived.

The nokken, it seemed, also had very little value in what sex was, that complete strangers could meet somewhere private and engage and then never bother again, with the woman usually initiating it and possibly giving birth to a child that was not her husbands.

Though the concept of husband wasn't something he had mentioned.

Overall it was a simple thought that the fact that ne couldn't have children didn't bother him, not that the two of them would have been able to even if ne did have functioning organs.

"That's... comforting," ne said, looking from him to nir hands, "Valkyrie, and even Ekahu, it's usually the man who works to gain a spouse, prettying themselves up, dancing in the case of Valkyrie. We don't view it so causally though, we...," ne closed nir hands into loose fists then opened them again, "have a very difficult time letting go of one after knowing them in that way. So it's a long process to make sure you know the person, that you actually want to spend forever with them. The emotions are complicated, but it's like a bond, one that's hard to break even if it's a bad one," ne looked to him again, "that's what I mean when I say that, you, or anyone, would deserve someone more stable than someone like me, who doesn't know if ne's a man or a woman. Especially since," and ne lowered nir voice a bit cautiously, nir gaze dropping a bit, "I've no idea which one you are attracted to. What if I decided to be a man, and that's not something you're alright with, or the other way around?"

Ne shifted, wringing nir hands slightly and looking up at him again, "it's... too complicated, most would not be willing to deal with that, and I would not want to put even those few who were willing through that."
