![]() ![]() Open to one character A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come. It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone. "Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out. The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew. Edited by Kuristoph, 29/04/2018 - 10:00 pm.

"I... sort of," Kuristoph declared with a bit of sheepishness. "Out of curiosity I watched Humans dance to see how it differs from my culture. But I can't seem to shake my own culture out of the movements," he explained, knowing how to do the dance, but with a twist that others had described as bizarre or otherworldly. He learned how to do the dances of his people out of water a bit from practice. The main issue was that he would move to fast due to the lack of resistance. So he had to adapt his movements to the air. When watching and mimicking the human dance, his movements still felt strange compared to theirs. More fluid and flowy than their own. He couldn't help but keep imagining himself dancing in very thin water. There were some Nokken who would dance in the shallows of water, but it was a newer trend, one he had not caught onto himself. He was regretting not learning the ways of these dancers. "So, if you don't mind me looking a bit strange... do you want to?" he asked once more, implying that he might embarrass her. |

Kuristoph admitted to having watched humanish dances, but not enough to know what he was doing. He admitted that he had a trouble taking the 'nokken' out of his movements, and Angeles had a curiosity to see what exactly that meant. Not here and now though, the music was wrong. He concluded by asking if ne would lead, even if it was a bit strange. With a sigh, ne moved nir hands from where ne had put them in the 'woman's' position and moved them to the 'man's' position. Humans be damned. "I'll lead," ne said softly with a reassuring smile. Dropping nir voice, with nir hand on his hip, ne stepped to the side and began leading him into the waltz, "step to the side," ne said, nir voice low and nir eyes on him, "turn, keep your feet within mine," ne smiled, already enjoying nemself, "alright so far?" |

Kuristoph took Angeles' hand and followed her instructions. The waltz was an easy enough dance for him to keep up with, especially since it was something he had seen done before. However it was much easier not being in a leading position. This did make him feel bad since he was doing less dancing and more following. Angeles was showing him how to dance in this way, so it would only be fair if he showed her a dance himself later. "Yes, this is simple enough," he said with a care-free smile on his face. He was genuinely enjoying himself. In fact, it seemed everyone else. None were paying them any mind as they were too intoxicated with themselves to pay attention to anyone else. The only one watching them was their waiter from afar who had his beak opened in a gasp. He wasn't sure what he was looking at. Had he assumed wrong about their roles earlier? Or perhaps they were just a very progressive couple. He assumed it was the latter. Edited by Kuristoph, 11/05/2018 - 08:52 pm.

Angeles forgot to look to see if anyone was looking at them, disgusted or otherwise. Ne smiled when Kuristoph said the steps were easy enough and ne smiled at him, particularly that he was smiling so blissfully. "Would you like to try to lead?" ne asked, opening nir hands where they held his hip and clasped his hand, offering a release for him to try the 'man's' position. The last thing ne wanted was him to feel emasculated because of a dance, even if no one was watching. Either way, ne was enjoying the dance, dancing had always been one of nir favorite parts of nir own culture that ne did not get much opportunity to join in. "My father," ne began, speaking low, "during my younger and angrier years, taught me to dance, many different dances from different cultures, at the time it was the only thing that really made me happy as a young person. So if ever, you wish to learn a new dance, I can teach you, if you like." Nir eyes lifted from their feet to his eyes, smiling again, almost a bit mischievously, as if ne were sharing some secret with the man before nem. |

"I will try," Kuristoph decided without much hesitation. Mostly because this would be his first time dancing with another person on the surface. It was going to be a new experience so he was eager to try and master the art. Without much pause, Kuristoph swapped positioning with Angeles and began to pick up where they left off. He focused on the movement for a moment, resisting the urge to flow like in water but instead flow like they were a moment ago. He tried to replicate Angeles' previous movements and her speaking to him during that actually helped him focus more since he was multi tasking. More specifically it kept him from trying too hard, sort of running more on auto pilot than letting his over-reactive mind take control. "That would be wonderful, I know few dances of the surface and would love to see more," he agreed, happy to receive dancing lessons from her. "If you were able to see under water I'd be more than happy to show you dances of my people as well... but that would be difficult to do," he chuckled briefly and smiled at the idea. "I'm not doing poorly am I?" |

In a fluid motion they switched positions and steps and Kuristoph was now in the lead, focusing on how he was moving, and ne could tell he was being cautious about it. "Who said that I can't see underwater?" ne asked, smirking, "I simply would have trouble holding my breath for very long, and depending on how long that actually would be, also wouldn't be able to fly afterwards until my feathers dried," ne smiled, now following his lead and moving at his pace, "but I wouldn't mind seeing these dances. "I'd show you the dances of my people but, well, most of them are meant to be done solo. They're dances that are done by individuals in a group, rather than as partners, is what I mean to say. So it would be more like showing off than actually showing you anything." Ne glanced at their feet as they continued around the floor and smiled up at Kuristoph, encouragingly, "you're doing fine," ne said leaning forward and touching nir brow to his again for just a brief moment and whispered, "don't worry about it. If you miss steps, then we'll just have to improvise and do our own dance, whether these people like it or not," ne grinned. |

"Thank you," Kuristoph said with a smile that was beginning to make his face sore. Simply because of how much he was smiling lately. But he didn't want to stop, he was having too much fun. "Those dances sound similar to our own, well, some of ours. I mean, a lot of our dances are less like this and more two people dance near one another. Some very talented people dance together in a way I could only describe as art," Kuristoph went on to explain the methods of his peoples dance routines. He was really thankful for the music since it made it difficult for others to overhear their conversation. He didn't exactly want to announce to the world he was Nokken and be barraged with questions from strangers. That's happened a few times already in his life on the surface. "I mean, I would love for you to show me sometime," he corrected his earlier ramble with a simple statement. However the song soon came to an end, and so did the dance. Those on the floor began to clap, but this time Kuristoph didn't. He simply just stayed still holding Angeles by the hips, his brow to hers and stared into her eyes. |

Kuristoph kept his voice low as he explained that his people's dances were very similar, where they danced alone but together. The people who did dance together did so in a very artistic fashion. Ne knew the kind, though ne suspected that, with gravity not being a factor, nokken dances were artistic in an entirely different way. He finished by correcting himself that he's like to see nem dance some time, and ne smiled, "then I'll show you." The music came to an end and so did their dance. There was applause around them, but Angeles' hands stayed where they were, on Kuristoph's hip and shoulder, smiling as he touched his brow to nirs again and looked into nir eyes. It astonished nem how light Kuristoph made nem feel, even after only knowing him for a day and an evening. The mood was brought down by a clearing of a throat, and ne glanced to the side, frowning and looking at a man and a woman, staring at them with distaste. "Tchera," ne whispered, then looked to Kuristoph, "we've worn our welcome, let's see about that observation room," ne smiled, taking Kuristoph's hand and making no hurry back to nir table, but making eye contact with their waiter with a sharp look, hoping to draw his attention. |

Kursitoph understood Angeles' word. Not literally, but given context he had a feeling it was a curse word of some kind due to her reaction and eagerness to leave after seeing how people reacted to their moment. He couldn't help but smile and follow as he didn't have the same sort of shame others felt. It was just something he didn't understand and was outside of his Zeitgeist. He couldn't bring to make himself care about certain things such as public display of affection and nudity. "I agree... I wonder if they'll let us bring our drinks," Kuristoph questioned while looking at their two new drinks. He looked around for their waiter who seemed to be approaching their table as they were with the check. "Oh, um, can we take our drinks with us?" he asked, curious since he didn't wish to waste the drinks. "Yes, if you leave your glasses in your room we will retrieve them when you leave," he explained, setting the bill on the table. "Did you two enjoy your evening?" "Yes, it was fantastic," Kuristoph declared before a sudden realization of shock hit him. "I forgot to ask, what is your name?" Kuristoph asked since he had forgotten the waiters name. "Oh, I have been going by the name David for some time now. It's not my birth name, but I had stopped using that name many years ago," he said almost somberly. "Sorry, I spoke too much, please enjoy the rest of your evening," he bowed before leaving. "You too David," Kuristoph waved as he left. "He's nice, weird name though," Kursitoph whispered to Angeles. |

"I'm sure they'll let us keep our drinks," it would be a waste to disallow it and throw the drink away otherwise. Ne smiled at the waiter as he arrived and confirmed this, before revealing to Kuristoph that he was going by the name 'David.' Kuristoph was pleased enough with this as Angeles pulled out nir purse to pay the bill. Once David's hand moved to it, Angeles pressed nir hand overtop of his and leaned to whisper to his ear. "Thank you for everything so far, the book included. It allowed us to speak of some things we otherwise might have never spoken about, it's made things easier," ne leaned back enough to look at the ekahu in his eyes, smiling sincerely, before letting nir hand off of his and taking nir drink, following after Kuristoph, who commented on the man's name. "Not entirely surprising," ne said, sipping nir drink, "Ekahun is often found to be extremely difficult to pronounce correctly because of the complexity of the language. Many take on humanish names for the sake of ease, myself included. When I went through customs the officer had such difficulty pronouncing 'Ahatsequtar, I just had him put my name down as Angeles. It was the first thing that came to mind as there was some visage of their divines nearby." Ne smiled, "the Ekahu have the natural ability to mimic sounds, so the language is made up of so many phonetics that it is difficult to keep track of for non-native speakers. This mimicry is also why many ekahu take careers as musicians, such as the quartet at dinner." |
