A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

Kuristoph followed while sipping on his now mixed drink. He had already eaten the strawberries off the side and was just enjoying the beverage while listening to her words. He was able to relate to this more than anything else from her culture due to the naming system his people followed and how other cultures were simply unable to pronounce his language without exerting a ridiculous amount of effort compared to other languages.

"That's very similar to my people," Kursitoph said after breaking from his drink. "Since our language is so hard for others to use we simply choose our names if we intent to stay on the surface long. I chose my name after the man who taught me Humanish and how to operate in Human society. It was his name and I couldn't think of a better way to honor him," he rambled a bit as they made their way to the observatory room.

Kuristoph allowed Angeles to enter first, holding off on finishing his drink.

"I'm so excited to see..." he declared in anticipation.

Kuristoph revealed that choosing a 'more pronounceable' name was a custom among his people, and that he had chosen his from the man who had taught him humanish and humanish customs. Kuristoph had done it to honor him, though Angeles could think of a few ways that that would get confusing quickly.

Angeles sipped at nir drink as they made their way down to the observation room. When they arrived, Angeles went in first and immediately froze. Ne continued to walk slowly as ne moved forward looking out at a full moon, a bright arch of rings, the blue-black of the night sky littered with stars as it all shown down on feathery clouds.

Ne stared for a long while, before lifting nir drink and taking another sip of strawberry, just to ground nemself in the here and now.

"You know, I've never really flown at night," ne said, "getting to the skyland last night notwithstanding," ne finally glanced at Kuristoph, "my eyes aren't made for the darkness, but with all the light that's out there now, I bet I wouldn't have a problem."

Ne was speaking quietly, as if raising nir voice too loud would cause the vista in front of them to vanish.

Kuristoph's mouth was agape with awe at the sight. Thankfully his hands weren't impressed as they broke his awestruck spell by placing the drink to his lips causing him to take another sip. He had many questions about the sky in this moment but couldn't articulate them outside of just smiling at the sky beyond the windows.

"Wow..." he finally managed as he gazed at the beautiful scenery. "Is flying at night dangerous? I mean, outside of not seeing well," he asked partially curious and partially worried that they were indeed flying at night time right now.

He only broke his gaze at the stars to look at Angeles as he awaited her answer.

Kuristoph entered the room and was silent beside nem, looking out in awe, before taking a sip of his drink and looking to nem with questions. Ne thought about it for a moment before shaking nir head.

"No more dangerous than flying during the day. You just swap daytime predators for nighttime predators, in that regard this ship is a safehouse. Otherwise it's the same. Though...," ne winced a bit, "pirates are more likely to attack a ship than a lone flier, more wealth in it. I doubt they'd try to hit something this large though, and not at night."

Ne looked to Kuristoph, "I'm been flying all my life solo and on ships and I've not met any pirates yet," nir eyes hardened then with a confident smirk as ne added, "and woe to any brigands that attack a ship that have valkyrie aboard."

Admittedly nir axe was back in the room with nir old clothes, but being weaponless didn't make nem any less of a fighter.

Kuristoph had not even considered pirates. Not in the air. He was familiar with them in the waters, or at least stories of them. There were many sunken ships at the bottom of the ocean from battles of the past. Some with flags that had skulls and various things symbolizing the dead. His people had stories of these pirates and some claimed to even watch battles from beneath the water.

This knowledge had Kuristoph wonder if any of the sunken ships were actually an airship that fell from the sky into the water. He was eager to go exploring to see but knew this was a bad idea. If any were within Nokken territory he'd be comitting treason and be executed on the spot. He wasn't exactly an expert on Nokken territories beneath the water, at least not knowledgeable enough to risk it.

"I had no idea pirates were a problem in the sky..." he admitted, looking out the window for a moment to make sure there wasn't one approaching right now. "But I do think they'd find no easy prey on this ship. I am not an expert in combat against people, but I am no coward," he declared while puffing his chest slightly to appear slightly larger.

He hoped to fix that statement one day, perhaps learn combat from an experienced warrior so that he had more than words to back his claim.

"Pirates are a problem wherever ships roam," Angeles answered, sounding as if this was very much second-hand wisdom, "they say that the very second ship to set sail was a pirate ship, there's always profit in preying off of others."

Ne sipped nir drink and glanced at Kuristoph, who declared that he would fight any pirates should they arrive also. Angeles couldn't help but smile as he puffed out his chest, trying to look even more manly than he already did.

"Well, I'm not teacher," ne said, lifting and resting a hand on the glass, "but having been through the academy, I can show you some things, even use what you already know, with whatever it is you use to fish. Unless it's a fishing pole, I'm not sure how to turn that into weapon, besides just hitting people with it."

Ne smirked a bit at nir own jest, but eyed Kuristoph to see if he seemed interested in the proposal or not.

"It's... kind of a fighting pole," Kuristoph answered back with a smile. "More specifically it's a trident. I use it mostly for hunting in the waters near coasts. I'll hunt under water a few kilometers out, usually with a tightly bound net to my chest so I can store food there. Only thing I have to fear is sharks, but they have grown to know to fear my kind. So only the the very young and the very confident are a problem," Kursitoph rambled a bit, realizing he went off topic on a small rant for no reason.

"I mean, I'd love to have you teach me sometime," he corrected himself knowing that such long-winded spouts of talking was rude.

It was just such a difficult habit to break due to his natural biology being inclined for speaking in such a manner.

A trident, ne was familiar with the name, but not as one used as a weapon. But ne figured it wouldn't be too far different from a spear, just quite heavy on the one end. Ne nodded with nir conclusions and looked to Kuristoph again as he finished with stating that he'd love for nem to teach him. Ne smirked.

"Why do you do that?" ne asked turning and leaning nir shoulder against the cooll glass, "you speak, and then you correct yourself, as if what you had said before should be disregarded? I think it's interesting that you've fought sharks before. best I've ever fought has been trolls, and I had help both times."

Ne smirked, not really bragging since ne did not consider them fights worth bragging about, but just showing that taking on sharks was no small feat that should be waved away with a simple 'I mean' and a few more words.

"You'll have to show me what you know, and then I'll have to see if I have anything that I can teach you."

"I've been told its rude to overtake the conversation like that before, so I've been mindful since," Kuristoph explained with a sigh. "Nokken have powerful lungs. I can hold my breath for a couple of hours, so speaking in one breath is natural to us... sometimes speaking for maybe an hour at a time in one breath," Kuristoph stated, basically explaining that he has been forcing himself to take more frequent breaths or simply pausing his thoughts so that he didn't speak for an hour straight without breathing between sentences.

"Sharks aren't nearly as worrisome. Well, most sharks. A few are so large they could probably eat a Troll. But you don't have to worry about those near most coasts. Only in the deep waters. Most sharks you have to worry about are about the size of a large dog if it were standing up," Kuristoph went on again, realizing that he had rambled once more, but this time he didn't correct himself.

He was happy to talk about these things with her.

"Mm, it's not overtaking a conversation so long as you give the other person a chance to speak, such as now," ne clarified tipping nir drink at him for emphasis before taking a sip of it, now nearly half-way done with the whole thing. Kuristoph explained that most sharks weren't a problem, which was a very different story for most trolls, and admitted that the more dangerous sharks were smaller, dog-sized, if being compared to a land animal.

Angeles hummed and nodded in understanding, glancing outside again and leaning away from the glass, "I've never seen a shark," ne admitted, "save one that was being served to be eaten. Most of the dangerous animals having to be dealt with where I'm from are ceffyl dor, the aforementioned trolls, sometimes unicorns, the occasional wurm, a dragon, once or twice, and then naturally occurring magical phenomenon like elementals and such."

Ne stopped to consider, holding up nir finger and adding, "and dire animals like wolves, bears and the like. But the valkyrie do well to keep these things from reaching Hakert, most of the time, not much can be done about dragons one way or the other. Everything else can be dealt with normally.
