![]() ![]() Open to one character A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come. It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone. "Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out. The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew. Edited by Kuristoph, 29/04/2018 - 10:00 pm.

With great hesitation, Kuristoph made his way towards the wing. He was scared that it would be weird, which was too little too late for that. But more so he was scared that in Angeles' culture it may have been offensive, or even more awkward... sensual for her wings to be touched by another. He simply didn't know and was afraid of entering a situation that may cause offense. However, those thoughts quickly fled his mind once his fingers touched the black and white feathers on his wing, stroking down with the direction they were layered to be sure not to ruffle them. "Oh they feel so soft," he mentioned, remembering how Zedj's fether's felt when he brushed against them. In comparison, Angeles had the softest feathers in the world compared to the crusty (and Sandy) nature of Zedj's. A single feather caused pause in Kuristoph as it dislodged from it's wing, falling down onto the water, floating. A single large black feather. Shocked by this he reached down for it and held it out to Angeles with an apologetic look on his face. "I'm sorry, one fell out. Is it okay? It doesn't hurt does it?" he inquired, concerned for her well being. |

Kuristoph commented on the texture of the feathers. It was a compliment ne was used to, in all honestly, but the surprise Kuristoph had, like he expected them to be otherwise, caused Angeles to smirk ever so slightly. He continued to pet nir feathers, which bothered nem none. When he stopped suddenly though ne looked to him, and he had in his hands one of her flight feathers, and a concerned expression had crossed his face. He asked if she was hurt. Angeles folded nir wing onto nir back and turned lifting the feather from his hand and twirling it in nir fingers. "Don't worry, it doesn't hurt," ne consoled looking at him, "it happens every now and then, the feather gets old, it blood gets cut off from it, it falls out from its pore, kind of like hair," ne said, looking at Kuristoph, "fur-like hair I mean, I don't think your scales work quite the same way." Angeles moved and set the feather down again to float on the water, setting again on the bank side and inspecting nir wing. The space was minor, ne'd be able to still fly. It was getting to be the time of year when ne might start molting though, so ne had to be cautious. Ne didn't want to be stuck on a skyland with no transportation if ne was going to be grounded for a while. Not that nature usually did that to nem. Ne smiled at Kuristoph though, trying to show that all was well and he needn't worry about nem. |

"That is quite different from what I am used to," Kuristoph admitted, not recalling ever losing any of his 'hair'. "Feel for yourself," he said, offering a braid of his hair out for Angeles to feel for herself. "It feels different from hair," he said with a smile. "And much different than feathers," he added, still smiling but this time at the feeling still present on the tips of his fingers from her wing. Either after Angeles touched his hair or refused, Kuristoph stood back up straight before stretching his arms high above his head in a twisting formation. His body was beginning to feel limber from soaking in the water, almost as though it was preparing for him to begin to swim for weeks on end. Sadly his muscles would be disappointing. "What of your culture? I know it is unfair for me to ask after telling you so little... but what are your people like? Oh and the religion of your people especially," he inquired, sounding a bit more excited about the religious aspect in his tone. |

Kuristoph admitted that the notion of losing hair was odd, given that what he had couldn't really be called 'hair' much like Angeles' which like Kuristoph's scales were actually feathers. He turned and offered nem a braid to touch, which she found the offer odd, but rationalized he offered because ne had allowed him to touch nir feathers. Not feeling like invading his personal space for too long, ne lifted a hand and ran it down the length of the braid only. It was definitely an odd sensation, the strands were thicker than fur, smooth. Ne wondered if it would be what jellyfish tendrils felt like if they didn't burn. "Interesting," ne commented, not yet able to put other words to it really. Ne removed nir hand from his braid and settled back as he stood a stretched. He was muscular, toned but thin. By Valkyrie standards it would be perhaps his only unattractive trait. Muscle was beautiful, at the very least more than what Kuritoph had on him. He twisted himself like he was prepping for a run, but stopped and turned instead to continue conversation with Angeles, asking about nir culture and nir gods. Angeles figure the latter question was coming, considering he showed interest in the water gods of other people. "My culture... is one that's split in half. I spent the first part of my life among the Valkyrie. We're... very aggressive, everyone trains from birth to fight and be a soldier, men and women alike. Our history is steeped in tradition, and we have lineages upon lineages of heroes. Our family names are one of our most sacred relics," ne smiled, but the grimace was hollow, "when not at war, Valkyrie are not too different than other people, we work, we have recreation, for those things every person is different in they're preferred hobbies. Everyone dances, though. It's very strange to come to the human cultures and learn that dancing is... an uncommon and under appreciated art. Dancing is very important to Valkyrie." Ne looked at Kuristoph again, "I spent the second part of my life living among the Ekahu. Ekahu are very different, their focus is on learning, bettering the mind and through bettering the mind one can share the knowledge with others and better them as well. They respect history but they aren't shackled by it, treating it as just another teacher to daily life. They're also... more accepting of what is different, or unusual. Things that some would see as disability they see as just another facet to who a person is," ne frowned a bit, looking at the water. "Religion-wise," ne said cautiously, "well, I'm assuming you mostly want to know of our gods of the water, right?" ne said, cupping some of the water in nir hands and letting it pour out, giving the nokken beside nem a smirk. |

Kuristoph listened carefully about both the Ekahu and Valkyrie. He had heard tales of the Valkyrie and Ekahu from passing strangers. It was nice to have confirmation from one who actually experienced both cultures first hand. Although after meeting Zedj he had his doubts Ekahu were as she described them. Perhaps he had just met a strange one. It would explain why he was so far from his people rather than with them. That actually began to make sense to Kuristoph. "Oh," he sounded as she commented about the water god, slowly pouring water from her hands. "Was it that obvious?" he said bashfully, looking down where the water poured. "If you wouldn't mind," he added, moving over to where the water was slightly more shallow so he could take a seat, prepared to listen intently for hours. Not that it would take an hour. He was just so into the topic matter that he could listen all day. |

Angeles nodded when he asked if his intention was obvious. He turned and settled down again, asking nem to continue, about the water gods specifically. Angeles nodded and turned more to face the nokken, relaxing into the water again, glancing at the black feather as it floated lazily on the surface. "I suppose that there would be two I can speak to you about personally, though I'm more partial to one...," ne hummed, "I'll start there, the Valkyrien god, Shahem. She is, like all of our gods, a goddess of war. But she is also the goddess of the sea, and of winter. She's known as the cold goddess as the ancestral home of the Valkyries, water was always cold. When it rained, when it snowed, and the ocean was never warm. She was with the other gods that banded together and descended on the world that was filled with demons and rid the world of filth. She then took to the seas and purified the waters, she created in it, the fish and other water dwelling creatures to live in the seas and oceans." Ne paused, because it was likely this heavily contradicted what Kuristoph knew to be true: implying that it was a Valkarien god that was responsible for the existence of the nokken. "After her work was done, she made her home in the deepest part of the ocean, where she controls the temperament of the sea and the bounty of fish." It was a gross over simplification of Shahem, but Angeles would save an in-depth explanation after ne could judge Kuristoph's feeling on the subject. "The Ekahu instead believe in the god Rella Luka, he's... not so much a god of water though as he is a god of all things liquid," Angeles explained with some difficulty, "so his domain is the seas, oceans and rivers, but he's also a god of blood, sweat, tears, and the wet seasons," Angeles looked to Kuristoph, "but Rella Luka would be little if the other gods didn't exist. The Ekahu believe that all things work together to make what is, is. So... say Rella Luka is responsible for the lagoon here, but there would be no lagoon if there was no skyland; earth is the responsibility of Rella Kal, so there needed to be the earth to hold the water, and the metal in the earth allows the skyland to float. In turn the water nourishes the plants that grow here, so Rella Luka in this way aids Rella Kal. Also that the Skyland moves because of the wind, which is the responsibility of Rella Tohuk. The wind pushes the skyland around so," ne smiled, "our chance meeting was the work of three gods cooperation, according to the Ekahu beliefs at least." |

Kuristoph sat engrossed with every word, memorizing the names and deeds the people believed their gods were behind. He was unsure of the validity of Shahem for the Valkyrie believe she is responsible for the deeds of at lest seven other gods. However she does claim power over feats that the Nokken Gods, to his memory, do not. So perhaps the Valkyrie are simply mistaken and credited her for creating things that other gods have. Maybe they simply forgot of the other gods over time and simply remembered her for she had a larger impact on their daily life. The Ekahu one represented many things he knew for sure no Nokken god was responsible for. This one he kept special attention to and knew he had for sure happened on a lost god of his people. Unlike the God of the Wights that he assessed was them simply being afraid of Orcas, stumbling across a very large one and calling it a God. "Thank you, that was very enlightening. In Nokken culture we have many gods that are all responsible for different aspects of the world. Much like the Ekahu. One responsible for the rivers, another the sea, another the deepest part of the Ocean and for example, large lakes. Perhaps we have simply different names for the same Gods or over time Gods that had less of a role in the culture of others were forgotten. Why would the Ekahu or Valkyrie remember a God responsible for the deepest trenches at the bottom of the Ocean for example? Or Valcanos that burst from the ground on the Ocean Floor," Kuristoph theorized, using examples of things a Valkyrie or Ekahu would very likely never see in their lifetime. "Oh my favorite is Nothandu, the Goddess of adaptation. She created the sea creatures who change form or turn invisible under light. Many creatures of the sea can change shape, color, size, gender, and even imitate other species at a whim in order to survive," Kuristoph rambled, moving up and out of the water into the moonlight. "She is who grants my people abilities like this," he spoke before small bits of electricity began to jolt around the water droplets on his body. |

Kuristoph seemed to take things well as far as where contradictions between their religions lay, even pointing out some, which Angeles expected, but ne listened regardless as he spoke of multitudes of gods that, well seemed a bit redundant. Why have so many gods that all do the same thing: deal with water. But ne had to remember that water was the life of the nokken; the sea the rivers the oceans, and everything in it, and everything that everything in it does. Specifically of the goddess he called Nothandu, who was responsible for the physical and biological changes of the creatures that lived in the water. He talked about how some animals he knew of would change. Change color, change shape, change sex. That one struck a chord in Angeles but ne didn't let it show outwardly. Instead ne watched Kuristoph step up out of the water, where Angeles was able to see him in full for the first time. His body was fit, but thin, as ne had observed, but there was no dout that could be had of his masculinity. Ne felt belittled slightly by his presence. Like ne was not worthy of being near such a man. Nir thoughts and doubts were distracted, however, as a lights danced across his skin, sparking along the water running down his body. That... that was new. "You can do that at will?" ne asked. It was definitely a handy ability to have, if ne garnered a guess, it was a defense mechanism more than a weapon. Ne took the opportunity to also step out of the water, nir wings fluttering to shake of the water before resting on nir back. Ne looked Kuristoph over, the two of them being about the same height. Ne had a curiosity to touch the little bolts of electricity to see how powerful they were, instead ne decided to ask, "how strong is the shock?" |

"I can, yes. Although I do do not recall many occasions for my need to do so above the surface. In my home it was useful if a predatory animal thought to to treat me as prey," Kuristoph stated, admitting his lack of experience using it above water. "The strength depends on how much I push it. It's like a muscle. I've heard of some of my kin use it to kill a shark before, but that was under water," Kuristoph added, trying not to boast about his own ability but the potential of it with practice. "If you want to feel, I won't shock very hard. It'll be like a tingle," he offered, noticing the curious expression written all over her face. He didn't blame her. He was a mysterious species and there was one willing to share some knowledge with her right before her. Why wouldn't she be curious? He had trouble imagining many who have had this opportunity. She also made him feel more comfortable sharing since their talk earlier. |

Kuristoph explained a bit about this ability of his. Far as ne could tell it wasn't any kind of elemental kinetic or magic, it had to be inborn. Indeed, he said that others who had the same ability could use it, effectively enough to slay a shark. He admitted never having really a need for it himself, above the surface, ne noticed he had specified. Ne filed the information away, every detail. Ne blamed nir father for nir fascination. He seemed to have noticed nir curiosity, offering to subdue the ability to allow nem to touch it without damage. Ne smirked at him, thinking he was worried about hurting nem where ne was pretty confident ne wouldn't be hurt by his ability. Unless he also had the power to kill a shark, but the way he spoke about it sounded like others, not him, held that strength. Ne nodded, intrigued, and waited till he gave the consent to touch him and ne wrapped nir hand around his wrist. The sensation jolted up nir arm immediately, ne felt it all the way to nir elbow. Pride kept nem from snatching nir hand away, but ne didn't hold on long, releasing and rubbing at nir tingling fingers, on the verge of being numb. "Impressive," ne said, massaging nir palm, "that's a very hand ability to have." |
