![]() ![]() Open to one character A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come. It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone. "Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out. The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew. Edited by Kuristoph, 29/04/2018 - 10:00 pm.

"I can relate..." Kuristoph sighed, dipping his toe into the water and kicking the water back and forth. "Small colonies of Nokken are more traditional, like where I am... but the Empire is very advanced and understands much about the workings of our world. They do not have as much faith as they should and forsake much of the old teachings," Kuristoph explained, knowing full well that he was treading a dangerous conversational line. But it was just the two of them on a remote floating island. Both were outcasts of their people and had the ear of a select few people from what he gathered. Who would it hurt if he divulged a bit more than he should with just Angeles? He had difficulty imagining betrayal from nem. "I... I am not making a fool out of myself by trusting you, am I?" Kuristoph asked before looking up to Angeles in the eyes. "I want to trust you and I want to think you would never use anything we talked about to cause harm to my people," he added, obviously feeling a bit conflicted with his own feelings at the moment. |

Kuristoph admitted, after kicking the water a bit, that a similar occurrence happened within the nokken. Small communities of nokken had strong faith, where the larger cities, the more advanced cities, had seemingly traded faith for that advancement. Angeles gave him a sharp look again. He was saying too much again, ne could tell, he seemed to be doing it almost on purpose now, and ne lifted nemself up onto nir elbows and looked at him. He turned to nem and immediately questioned nem, his eyes focused on nirs, asking if he was a fool to trust nem, that he wanted to trust nem to not hurt his people. Ne frowned seriously, shifting upright and sitting. Nir eyes stared unblinking into Kuristoph's, sharp with conviction and sincerity as ne answered, "I would never do or say anything to harm your people." Or anyone's. Even if ne were ordered to, if ne were tortured for information, if nir wings were cut off and thrown into the fire, ne would never bring harm to a people who were undeserving. "Kuristoph...," ne said, glancing from his eyes and shifting, resting an arm on an upraised knee, "if you feel uncomfortable talking to me, and you don't want to risk accidentally telling me something you would rather I not know, you don't have to. We can speak of other things, or, at worst, I can leave, if that will keep you safe." |

"No, it's fine. I'm honestly very lonely. It's been so long since I've had a longer conversation with anyone. I... just relate to your story. It's made me think of many things that I had not thought of in many months," he explained. Angeles' story had moved him in some ways, making him feel better about some parts of his own life... but also reminded him of parts he thought forgotten. "I don't mean to make you feel like you should leave. I was just making sure. As much as I want to speak, there's always a part of me that says I shouldn't. I like to believe it's out of concern for my people... but I think I'm just afraid," Kuristoph sighed, looking back down at the water he continued to kick at. "You just seem like a very thoughtful person. Someone who'd listen to another's story without judgement. I just didn't want to be wrong," he reasoned his earlier questioning. He was genuinely asking if nem would betray him later, as if someone who would plant a knife in the back of another would be honest about that sort of thing. |

Kuristoph was quick to dismiss nir offer to leave, admitting that he was lonely and desired someone to speak to, for longer than a brief few words. Ne stared solemnly into his eyes, but visibly settled to show that ne would not leave. He continued to speak quickly, not allowing for pause to interject, either to disagree or console. It stunned nem a bit when he admitted that he was afraid. He concluded with a kick of the water, stating that he found nem to be thoughtful, and did not want to be judged. Angeles' eyes hardened again, and ne shifted, sliding easily into a standing position, and moved closer to Kuristoph, sitting beside him at the water's edge, facing towards the water, but nir body turned to try to catch his gaze. "I would only judge if you had, in your life, intentionally brought unjust harm to another person," ne admitted to the one thing that would cause nem to turn away from him, "but you said that whatever it was you had done was an accident, and I don't see the kind of villain in you that causes pain to others or robs them of their livelihood," ne smiled at him, reassuringly, "I trust you. You can trust me. I promise." |

"No, it would be more accurate to say I greatly inconvenienced a bunch of people who viewed me as an outsider already," Kuristoph elaborated with a bit of a sigh. "Emphasis on greatly," he added, trying to express just how large of a problem he had caused for people in the Empire that basically absorbed his village. He and his people were already seen as simple backwards folks. He had only proved that to be true. His Exile was a punishment many argued did not fit the crime, but it was a political tool used as a means to make an example to those the Empire was bringing in under their protection. Conform He worried for those he grew up with and wondered if they worried for him as well. "Do you think you can show me where you call home? I would very much like to see it with my own eyes one day," Kuristoph asked, doing his best to change the subject. |

Ne listened as Kuristoph clarified a bit more what had happened, and though he did not say as much, ne sense a great deal of politics was involved, and that likely the punishment had been more severe than needed be. Ne suspected he had been made an example of. He changed the subject and ne allowed it willingly. He asked about seeing nir home and ne gave him a wry smile, "My home is Earthstar, I'm certain you've seen it with your own eyes already," ne said simply with a chuckle, "but I assume you mean you wish to see where it was I had come from, Hakert." Ne shifted and stood to nir feet, offering him nir hand with a welcoming smile, "we can possibly see it from up here, come with me." |

Kuristoph was disappointing for a brief moment hearing that ner home was Earthstar. He had believed that Angeles currently lived among the Ekahu based on what was shared. Perhaps he had assumed too much and made an incorrect conclusion based on that information. He would be sure to be more careful of that in the future. However his expression shifted to wonder when Angeles offered to show him. He gladly took the offered hand in excitement, following wherever ne may lead him. "Is it so close that we can see it from here?" Kuristoph inquired, curious if he had been looking upon it this entire time while remaining oblivious. It would not be his first time discovering something that was in plain sight the entire time. |

Kuristoph's disappointment did not escape nem, but ne could do nothing about it now. He was eager to see Hakert, and asked if it was due to close proximity that they may be seen. "A number of things will help us see them from here," ne admitted, "not just how close we are but also how high we are, how clear the weather is and how bright the moon is." Ne led them over to the edge of the skyland facing the north west and paused a moment, to search before releasing Kuristoph's hand to indicate the mountains in the distance, "there. They're easier to see in the winter time when they're covered in snow, but that's Hakert, specifically that range there," ne swept nir hand indicating the range that they could see, "is called Kodjeeza," ne smiled fondly and rested back on nir heels. "Not much from this distance, but there they are. Maybe we could see them up close in person, sooner or later," ne looked over at him and smirked, "up to you." |

Kuristoph stared carefully where Angeles was pointing... but sadly the detail was not as easily seen for him. He did not have the eyes of a Valkyrie. He saw the mountains and could get a general feel for the overall shape, but he could not make out much detail beyond that. It was an amazing view, however, and he was happy to have been brought there for at least that. "Sooner rather than later preferably," Kuristoph mentioned in a persuasive tone. Not that he expected it to be within the next week or so. To him, sooner could be a month from now or maybe even a bit longer. It was just nice that ne offered to show him at all. "How far would you say that is?" he inquired, not quite used to measuring distance on the surface by eye yet. |

Kuristoph stared at the distance and Angeles crossed nir arms over nir chest, moving nir wings a bit to curl around nem for warmth, where they stood, there was a breeze wafting over the skyland's edge. Kuristoph made the decision to see Hakert sooner than later, and asked about how far away ne thought they were from the mountains. Ne tilted nir head in thought and hummed. "A lot of factors play into this," ne admitted, "making them seem closer than they are, specifically that we are very high above them. I would say that from here we are about fifty leagues away, that's not including how far we would have to travel down from here to reach them." Ne looked over at Kuristoph and smiled, "so quite a bit aways. So close, yet so far. Everyone would be asleep now either way. We're diurnal by nature, nighttime is not our usual time of activity." |
