Open to one character

A perfect night for exploring, or potentially trespassing. Kuristoph did not know if this land was owned by anyone in particular, but the man he paid to fly him here on a personal aircraft didn't seem to object. It could just be that the man was simply overpaid since Kuristoph didn't quite have a baring on what was a fair rate for services yet. Still, once he saw this particular skyland on his airship ride to Earthstar he had to come.

It had the most beautiful lake that looked so tranquil and peaceful to him. Plus it was abandoned as far as he could tell. It would be the perfect place for him to swim without disturbing anyone.

"Thank you Pim for this blessing," Kuristoph muttered to himself whilst floating on his back in the water. The fact that he is not wearing any clothes, as most Nokken would while in the water, is the main reason he sought this place out.

The other reason was to find a place he was sure not to find another Nokken. Just better to avoid running into anyone he once knew.

Angeles had a valid point. If they had plans they wouldn't have come out in the middle of nowhere to take a bath. The guilt swelling inside Kuristoph began to fade into nothing, being replaced with a small amount of embarrassment for feeling said guilt in the first place.

However all of those emotions meant nothing when Angeles used the word preen. Kuristoph was unfamiliar with that word and has never heard it used before.

"I'm sorry, but what is preen?" he inquired with a curious expression. "And how would I help you do the preen?" he inquired further, curious as to what said act was. It had to be practical based on the other tasks being so practically minded; Clean, adorn themselves with nature, sleep.

...as if dressing oneselves up with leaves were practical.

Kuristoph stopped nem at the word 'preen' and questioned its meaning and how it was done. Angeles smiled, "it's pretty easy."

Ne lifted nir wing and spread it out between the two of them, low enough that ne could reach over and grab nir feathers, lifting them up in a way that Kuristoph could see the skin where the quills were under the down, "you just take your fingers," ne demonstrated, gently touching a feather at its base where the skin was, "and then rub your hand down the feather, pinching it gently," ne demonstrated again, pinching the vane of the feather between nir fingers, "and stroke down, making sure there are no spaces between these barbs," ne finished demonstrating by peeling apart part of the vane, then smothing it back to being whole again, smirking.

"You do this to every feather, but I won't torture you like that, just the ones that have come apart like I showed you. Usually I have a special tool for this, but it's back home, fingers work fine if you're gently. Interested?"

"Oh, it's grooming," Kuristoph expressed as though he had an epiphany. However, his understanding didn't hide his embarrassment. "That seems like a very personal task. Is it okay to trust me with something as delicate as that?" he inquired, knowing that he could very well make her feel uncomfortable by doing it wrong and at worst make her feel pain if he did it very wrong.

Not to mention he was only away of people grooming one another as a form of intimacy back home. Not the empire, but his home back by the river.

His real home.

"I can try, I just don't want to make you uncomfortable," he said after a pause, not wanting the air of awkwardness to fill in the gaps. So long as Angeles didn't try to stop him in any way, verbally or physically, Kuristoph would make a very skittish attempt at preening the wing nearest to him. It would take him significantly longer than Angeles would since it was sort of his first time.

"Yes," Angeles said simply to Kuristoph's realization, and to his hesitance responded, "not at all, well," ne paused, "I suppose not for Valkyries and Ekahu, at least. We can do it ourselves but it goes faster with help," ne admitted, shifting and brushing a hand over nir wing "especially the feathers closest to my spine, those are especially difficult to reach."

The Nokken expressed further doubt, and Angeles looked at him out the corner of a yellow eye.

"I trust you," ne said simply, "and unless you start trying to initiate something, there's little you could do to make me uncomfortable."

To emphasize this, ne turned around and sat with nir back to the man, looking over nir shoulder at him. He hesitantly began to preen the feathers and ne smirked, before getting to work on the opposite wing. Ne hadn't been submerged in the water long enough to really mess up the feathers but it would be better to be sure everything was properly oiled before flying off the skyland, than during mid-flight and getting caught in the rain, only to fall out of the sky.

"Don't be so nervous," Angeles encouraged softly, nir mind split between nir task and how Kuristoph was doing.

Trusts me? We have only just met. Perhaps I just have a trustworthy face. I've been told I don't have the face of someone who could tell a lie. Granted it was my mother... but that counts. Kuristoph thought while beginning the process of preening, sort of just going with the motions without realizing it. He had gotten himself lost in thought right at the start and realized in horror that he was doing it.

But since Angeles hadn't screamed, scolded, or corrected him yet he assumed he wasn't doing it wrong.

Entirely.

"Is this good? I know you said not to be nervous, but still. I worry," he confessed, letting his hands do what felt right, trying not to force anything out of place or go against the grain. He couldn't help but look onto Angeles with eyes of a youth looking for reassurance from an authority figure. In this instance he was but a babe and Angeles the teacher.

There had been a long moment of silence while Kuristoph worked, and Angeles worked on nir wing in turn. Ne thought the silence was confidence from the man, but that proved to be an incorrect assumption as he asked if he was doing it correctly and was worried. Ne turned nir yellow eyes to him, or at least what she could see of him with a whole wing in the way. A quick glance at the feathers showed that nothing was out of place, and ne smiled.

"You're doing great," ne acknowledged, "don't worry so much. You are your own worst enemy when you're nervous, and fear will cause you to make more mistakes."

Ne felt like ne was starting to sound like nir father and gave a short smirk to nemself, shaking nir head before getting back to work, "just don't pull a feather any harder if it gives you resistance, it's not like brushing hair."

Angeles was right. He was his own worst enemy. Kuristoph always had issues with being nervous and making mistakes. One could say it was the very cause of his current situation. All to lead up to being nude under the moonlight grooming the wings of a proud Valkyrie. Well, he assumed Angeles was proud. Kuristoph definitely felt pride coming from her.

...or perhaps he was projecting traits he found favorable onto her?

"Wise words. Wish I was able to heed them long ago," Kuristoph smiled, feeling silly that at a time in his life he would have needed to hear them. Long ago when he was much younger. But, somehow they consoled him still. Allowed him to continue with a task he was inexperienced with a little more confidently. "How often do you have to preen yourself?" he inquired, curious on the grooming habits of her kind.

The appeal of swimming in the air with wings grew lesser due to the maintenance they required.

Kuristoph spoke of nir wisdom and Angeles looked back with a smile. The smile faded a bit as ne saw the man, not-yet-dry hair glistening, moonlight glowing off of his alabaster skin, the blue scales of his lithe body glittered like sapphires, matching his eyes as the focused on his task; thin fingers lightly gripping a large feather in a fist and pulling it down, smoothing it out.

Angeles felt heat rise to nir cheeks at the spectre of this beautiful man, sitting behind nem, touching nir wings. Ne suddenly became very aware of nir own pulse in nir ears and ne looked away as the nokken asked about how often preening needed to be done.

"Not often," ne answered, a little pitched and coughed to clear nir throat, "about once a day for a few minutes. It's normally a morning ritual, but it's important to do after bathing."

Ne hoped that Kuristoph hadn't seen nir embarrassment. Nir dark skin was near impossible to tell a blush on, that was more a revealing truth for lighter skinned peoples. But ne had been staring....

"So once, maybe twice a day depending on your bathing habits," he replied back to confirm the information given to him. "In my case, if I had wings, it would be like eight or nine times a day. If I had my way at least," he laughed to himself, thinking back to how much he wanted to be in the water. More specifically how often the urge hit him to simply dive into bodies of water he would see on his travels.

Taking a break from preening, Kuristoph took a moment to stretch his arms out and above himself, leaning back just a bit before making eye contact with Angeles. From what he could tell she had been staring for a moment and it made him blush slightly.

"Do.... do I have something on my face?" he asked sheepishly, concerned that he may have gotten some mud or grime from the lagoon on him that didn't slip off.

Angeles was a bit confused by his addition to the conversation, wondering what sort of lifestyle one would lead to have to bathe eight times in one day. It was confusing enough that ne turned to ask him about it, nir face twisted in bewilderment, only to drop to an expression of shock as as Kuristoph leaned his body back.

And stretched.

Ne looked away from him again, suddenly very aware of their nudity. When Kuristoph asked about his face Angeles shook nir head and stood swiftly.

"No, no, nothing on your face," except for beauty beyond comprehension.

Angeles stalked over to where nir clothes were, now drab compared to the natural elegance that was Kuristoph, and dressed in them. Ne had never felt this flustered before, and it was perhaps a good thing they were going to visit Hakert, as ne was certain ne was going to need some guidance from nir father.

"Th," ne began, questioned nemself, looked to Kuristoph again and nodded, "thank you for helping with my wings," wings that had been touched by such graceful hands....

Ne needed to stop thinking.
