The peaceful, forested area of West Kanto is characterized by rolling pastures and lush greenery. The landscape is punctuated by the Indigo Plateau, a rise of land to the west where the Indigo League is located.

This mountainous area is home to many caves and tunnels, including the one that passes under Mt. Moon. This is the most direct thoroughfare between the mining town of Pewter City and the serene river town, Cerulean City.

At the heart of the region towers its central megalopolis, consisting of three major cities that are adjacent to each other. This primarily urban region serves as a central trade hub for the economy and Pokémon culture. However, there has been a rise in city gang activity ever since Team Rocket was disbanded...

The rural East Kanto consists mainly of farmland and hilly areas that run along the coast. There are many important landmarks here, including the Power Plant, Pokémon Tower, and the Silence Bridge.

Kanto's southern coast is the home of Fuchsia City, endless fields of flowers, and many warm beaches. The coastal environment is humid and colorful and is a good setting for the Pokémon Reserve, a vast expanse of land dedicated to Pokémon preservation and study.

From Fuchsia City, one can hire a boat (or find a water Pokémon that knows Surf) so he or she can make a voyage out into the ocean. The Seafoam Islands and Cinnabar Island await.
