I can dedicate time to it when I get home (I only work three full days a week and that is today and yesterday plus thursday, so I will be able to help better with other challs) which will be in about 10 hours give or take a half hour. |

I'm also awake. I had a few thoughts on this overnight... "we gathered a series of quotes and phrases from a multitude of Nintendo games" IMO, these are almost certainly going to be iconic and/or very memorable - they're probably not going to use something said by one enemy at a random point in an obscure game. So why not list some possibilities going in? It should be fairly quick to check if any of them are right, since we can go by the number of letters in each word, and if any are it should save us quite a lot of time over doing the crytogram from scratch. Unfortunately, I'm not a huge Nintendo fan so I could only think up a few, but here are things I think are likely to come up: "Thank you Mario! But our Princess is in another castle!" - Pretty much the only text in the original SMB, and iconic as a result "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!" - from one of the early Legend of Zelda games (maybe the first one) "Gotta catch 'em all" - Pokemon "Do a barrel roll!" - Star Fox (this one is a bit more obscure, but I feel like given the fact I know it and I've never played the game it's fairly well known? Also the double l at the end makes it a nice phrase for a crytogram) "Mario, I've baked you a cake, please come to the Castle. Peach" - I've almost certainly butchered this one, it's from the intro to super mario 64. I'd be very surprised if there weren't more from the Legend of Zelda games (particularly Ocarina of Time) but I can't think of any more. Any thoughts anyone else? |

Btw, for a straight substitution cipher, look for recurring combos those will tend to be common letter pairings like TH or ER. Look for common symbols, those are likely to be vowels. And always start with the two and three letter strings if it is split. Those will create two option scenarios for vowels most of the time. |
