Power of Veto Challenge Five Final Five, you have been through a lot to get to this point. This Power of Veto competition will test skills you've been using all game, that is, deduction and bluffing. For each of you, we have rolled five dice for you five separate times and posted the results in your confessional. The first four rolls will be for a one-on-one match against each other player. (To protect you from deciding to "rig" this challenge, we will only refer to other players as Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, and Green, and you may not discuss this challenge with the others.) The final roll will be for one large round involving everybody's dice, that will serve as a "tiebreaker roll." This final roll will only serve as a tiebreaker, and will not be scored like the other four rolls. Your goal is to privately make an accurate bid for each of your five "rounds." The first four rolls will include 10 dice total, and the tiebreaker roll will include 25 dice total. You only know the dice that you have, but you are making bets in regard to all of the dice in that roll. As well, ones will function as "wilds," meaning they will count for any and all other values. For example, if given the following roll in the first round: 1 3 2 4 2 You know that you yourself have three 2's in the game, and that there are still five dice unaccounted for. Your goal is to submit the highest, most accurate guess possible for the round. After all submissions are in, we will look for the highest guess. (The highest guess is the highest both in quantity and in value, for example, 5 2's is less than 5 6's, but 5 6's is less than 6 2's.) The HIGHEST ACCURATE guess in each match will score 2 points. If you have an accurate guess, but your opponent has a higher accurate guess, then you will score 1 point. If you submit an inaccurate guess, you will score no points. A guess is considered to be accurate if there are AT LEAST that many dice of that value in the round. For example, if you submitted "five 2's" and there were six 2's, your guess would be accurate. If there were only four 2's, you would be inaccurate. After 12 hours, we will reward points to all players; however, we will not reveal to you whether or not you received any points. You will; however, see what your opponent bet in each round. After you have seen your opponent's bet, you will have 12 hours to bet again. You are allowed to change your bet, higher or lower, or keep it the same. This time; however, you will be acting with more knowledge, so the possible points you can earn will be doubled. The highest accurate bet will be worth 4 points, and a lower accurate bet will be worth 2 points. (The bets for the tiebreaker roll will not be revealed or counted for any points.) After both rounds, the player with the most points will win the Power of Veto. (Again, please make your decision before the end of the challenge, and Kat must choose her conditional replacement nominees before the end of the challenge.) If two or more players tie for the most points, then the tied player with the highest accurate bet in the tiebreaker roll will win the Power of Veto. If none of the tied players had an accurate bet in the tiebreaker roll, then the player with the lowest bet will win. This challenge will last 24 hours. The first round will last a maximum of 12 hours, although if everyone posts their responses quickly, we can start the second round sooner. |

Probably it's just me but is there a Spark Notes version of understanding what I'm doing in this challenge?
For example, how do I know that I have three 2's or do I just turn the 1 into a 2? Am I guessing only the 2's the other person has or? HALPS. An example for people who are Mentally Small would be useful

Ones are wild, so they can and will count for any number. With a hand of 1, 3, 2, 4, 2, you can say you have three 2's, two 3's, or two 4's. You are trying to bet on how many dice there are of a specific value in both your roll and your opponent's roll combined. You're trying to bet as high as you can while still being accurate. So say if you bet "four 2's" then we count the 2's and 1's in your roll, and we count the 2's and 1's in your opponent's roll. If there are at least four in total, then your bet is correct. |

Someone has requested an extension, so we'll allow this first round to go on another 12 hours, until 11:00 PM EST tonight. Although if all the results are in before then, we may update before then. |

Everyone has submitted for Round 1. I'll be posting appropriate stuff in your confessional shortly. You have 24 hours for this second round, but I would strongly appreciate it if you all submitted as soon as you can.

All of you should have your rolls for round 2. As well, if both players in a match have the same bet, and it is accurate, then they will each receive points for the highest accurate bet. You do not have to change your tiebreaker bid, but you can if you want to. By the deadline, please specify what you would like to do with the Veto if you win it. Kat, you also must select your replacement nominees. |
