![]() Congrats on making it into the next era of this game! Now we have two tribes going head-to-head in a heated battle for immunity! Seven people per side doesn't make for an exciting battle, though, so we're bolstering your ranks with these statues. Unfortunately, they were just sent over to us in one shipment and we forgot which statues were supposed to fight for which tribe. To figure it out, we're going to assign each statue a word and then play a game of Codenames! First, I will need each tribe to select a leader. A 5x5 grid of 25 words will be posted in this thread. The two leaders will be secretly told which statues belong to their team. They will then take turns giving clues to help their tribe identify their statues. Clues will take the form of a SINGLE word followed by a number. The one word should describe a word or set of words on the board, and the number should refer to how many clues are being referenced. Clue Rules: 1. Your clue must be about the meaning of the words. (e.g. You can't use your clue to talk about the letters in a word or its position on the table. GLAND is NOT a valid clue for ENGLAND. You can't tie BED, BUG, and BOW together with a clue of "B 3".) 2. Letters and numbers are valid clues as long as they refer to meanings. (e.g. EIGHT 2 is a valid clue for SPIDER and FIGURE.) 3. The number you say after your clue can't be used as a clue. (e.g. CITRUS 8 is not a valid clue for LEMON and OCTOPUS.) 4. You must play in English. A foreign word is allowed only if it can be reasonably used in an English sentence. 5. You can't use any form of a word that has not yet been identified on the grid. (e.g. Until BREAK has been guessed, you cannot say BREAK, BROKEN, BREAKDOWN, etc.) 6. You cannot say part of a compound word that has not yet been identified. (e.g. If HORSESHOE is in play, you cannot say HORSE, SHOE, UNHORSED, SNOWSHOE, etc.) 7. Rhymes are only valid when they refer to the meaning of the word. (SNAIL is a valid clue for MAIL, but it is not a valid clue for SCALE.) 8. No acronyms or abbreviations. (CIA may seem like a great clue, but it is not one word. Neither is LOL, UK, PhD, etc.) Expert Clues 1. ZERO clue - You are allowed to use 0 as the number part of your clue. (e.g. FEATHERS 0 means "None of our words relate to feathers.") If 0 is the number given, the usual limit on guesses does not apply. 2. UNLIMITED clue - You may also say "Unlimited" instead of a number for your clue. (e.g. FEATHERS UNLIMITED) If you do, the usual limit on guesses does not apply. The disadvantage is that your team will not know how many codenames relate to the new clue. Once a clue has been given, the other tribe members will guess words one at a time in this thread. Please bold this guess to make it official. They may guess up to a maximum of one more codename than the number stated by the leader, so if you have a leftover clue you didn't get all of during a previous round, you may make another guess. Once they guess a word, a moderator (or one of the leaders, if no mod is online) reveals the color of that word. If the word is the color of the tribe, the tribe may continue guessing words (up to the 1+number given in the clue). If the color of the word is either White, or the other team's color, the turn immediately ends and the other team takes a turn. If the color is black, then the challenge is automatically over and the other tribe wins immunity. The first team to identify all of their words wins immunity. The Old World will be searching for 8 words. The New World will be searching for 9 words, but has been chosen by coinflip to go first. If you have any questions, ask them here. To see an example of this game being played, go here. Please select your team leader as soon as possible. |

For clarification purposes... If the leader says "____" 5 for the clue, then the rest of the tribe has 5 guesses but if the leader says "____" 0 or "_____" UNLIMITED then we have unlimited guesses for that clue? |

If they say "____ 5" then the rest of the tribe may take up to six guesses. They are not required to use every guess available.

Both teams have selected a leader. On my lunchbreak I will go home and get them the word grids and then we can start.

Update: it looks like I'm only taking 30 minutes for lunch, which is not enough time to go home. We will start as soon as I get off work.

Woo, finally. Genghis Khan and the New World are up first. Hatshepsut will follow for the Old World. Remember, one of the words up there is a trap, and will end the game if it is guessed! No hard time limit on this, but let's keep it moving. I swear to God if this turns out like the Lylat Cruise from Super Survivor Bros and takes a week to finish I will personally murder all of you. |

Welp, that's the black word. The New World automatically loses. The Old World has won immunity! EDIT: You edited your post, but I definitely saw "Pillow" as your guess. Edited by Herodotus, Jan 29 2016, 05:50:36 PM.
