Day 1 me [gif] Salutations! You and me are about to dance the dance of SURVIVOR! One should always get to know their dance partner. May I introduce myself? I am Bellsprout, but you may call me whatever you like. them Mmmm, those are some indiscriminate hip trusts. Work your magic, Bellsprout! Hiya! I'm Squirtle, and wow, I was so not expecting this game to start this soon! I haphazardly submitted an application yesterday or the day before, thinking it would be awhile before I was notified of the game start, but here I am! You are the first and only person to contact me so far! me Oh my! Well I hope you're ready because I think the beat's gonna take you places! I hope you don't find it too fast-paced. Was there something in particular that made you apply? OOoo, is this your first Survivor? Dear, if that's so, you have come to the right place! I am ever a thoughtful and patient dance partner. Don't you worry, I'll walk you through the steps, and you'll be shimmying just right in no time. I don't even mind if you step on my toes once or twice! Everyone's gotta learn! them I can't lie, I'm not really a newbie. I just don't usually play these things. I have played before awhile ago and then was like, "You know what? I'll give this a try again!" because I am just in a muuuuuch better headspace this time than I was when I tried to play previously. SO, here's hoping I can handle it a bit better ![]() I would loooove a knowledgeable dance partner to help me through this, though. I'll be the first one to admit I have very little idea of what I'm doing, or rather, whether what I'm doing is good or bad. me I should admit something too, then, in the spirit of balance and openness - I'm not really that knowledgeable, I think. I mean, I've played a few of these, but my record's just terrible! To be honest, I'm actually hoping to come at this with fresh eyes and perspective. Hoping to completely avoid thinking about whatever I did wrong when I last played, and just approach this as close to virginally as I can. I guess in a lot of ways, we may have similar goals and experiences to this point. Or at least, that's how it sounds to me. Still, if you'll allow me to get back in character, I'm sure I can be your guide. [gif] them Well, then! Sounds like we're both kind of wobbly trying to navigate this tricky mess here. Shall we then work together in the spirit of cooperation? I'd love to beat my record from previous games, though that isn't really saying a whole lot ![]() Please, be my guide! I'd love to go for a whirl with hips like those XD Have you had an opportunity to talk to many of our fellow tribemates yet? me Alright, then. Just follow my lead~ [gif] These hips don't lie! ![]() Yeah, I'm talking with everyone as much as I can, actually. Pichu's the only one who I haven't said anything to beyond the first message I sent them. Other than that, I've got a couple messages with everyone. them [gif] Am I doing it right? ![]() I'm also trying to talk with everyone as much as I can! I've spoken to Unown, Stunky, and Fennekin so far. I shot Pichu a message but he hasn't responded yet. Other than yourself, I think Fennekin is the one I've "clicked" the most with just because he feels so easy to talk with and all, but I really do like Unown & Stunky as well. me You got moves, turt! Dayumn! [janelle monae - dance apocalyptic] Yeah, Fenny is fun! To be honest, I'm finding everyone to be a joy to chat with so far. I'm not really focusing on steering the conversations anywhere yet. Just trying to get a general feel for what everyone's into, interested in, et cetera. I hope Pichu shows up soon, because I think it's usually the case that anyone who doesn't make it to the first night, ends up being on the outside of the tribe, and this tribe is pretty darn small! them Ahhhh! I have heard Janelle Monae before, she is awesome! I think the song was Cold War... the music video is basically just her crying into the camera and it's wonderful. What a great artist I think I'll go look up some more of her songs, because that one is VERY good.Everyone is pretty great, yeah. I think you've made the biggest impression on me in my mind, which is why I'm sooo keen on having you as my dance partner <3<3<3 I do hope Pichu shows up, that would be sad to be eliminated just because you were busy on the first night! I was almost busy tonight if I hadn't decided to randomly check Mafiascum... :-X me I love Janelle Monae. She's easily in my top 5 artists that I go back to over and over. I suggest trying Many Moons. Everyone loves Tightrope, and also you should listen to Electric Lady. Actually, do that entire last album! Time not wasted! Yeah, I feel confident enough in our group, that outside of some multiple tribe TC event, I think we'll likely avoid the first TC or two, I hope. That should give anyone the time they need to build bonds, so we can have a more balanced TC. But if not, personally, I'm sort of pathologically on the side of rooting for the underdog that I'd give Pichu or whoever their fair shake no matter what. I guess in a tribe of six, there's only so much one can do for that, but I hope things aren't as ugly as booting off the last person to show! I think things are finally starting to chill out a bit. I'm slowly getting around to typing up my first game impressions for my confessional. I can't really comment much on the tribe yet, but there's a few set-up choices that are ripe for overthinking! And of course, there's the burning question - to waste all my time guessing at that password, or not to? them I will listen to her tomorrow! I've got a long day at work so I'll put on her albums and give them a listen and report back. I'm getting tired of listening to the same stuff over and over again, and I'm out of podcasts to listen to for the time being! I would tend to agree with you, actually, on not wanting to boot out the person who doesn't show up. That just feels really unfair. I mean, people have to have a life, right? This can't be ALL they do, so a little inactivity should be understandable. Plus, one thing I've always thought about Survivor is that those kinds of "easy votes" where there's an obvious target are usually better for OTHER people... like, if everyone agrees on something so easily and does something simple like that, then it's benefitting SOMEONE somewhere, and if it's not you, then it's someone else... I dunno if that makes much sense, but that's basically my big rambly run on sentence to explain "yes, I agree with you" about the Pichu thing ![]() What kinda setup choices do you think are interesting? I don't know much about twists or anything outside of tribe swaps and hidden immunity idols, so I don't have much to add there. 24 people seems like a TON though, so I wouldn't be surprised if we eliminated people quickly in the early days with multiple eliminations or something. I saw that hidden forum! I'm guessing the mods will just give us a password at some point, or a clue? I tried doing something dumb and typing in "lowercasedandincludesnospaces" but it didn't work ![]() I think I'll get some sleep, now, as I have quite an early day tomorrow, but I'll be off and on most of the day tomorrow and then I'll be here at challenge time! me Okay, definitely tell me what you think! I'm already in a situation where I'm trading songs with Fenny, so at this rate, my inbox will be 30% gametalk, 30% idle chatter, and 40% music recommendations. Lol. Yeah, that's a REALLY good point to consider. Yeah, I think we should always consider 'who is gonna gain the most with this vote', and 'why does [x] want this vote' before we lock anything in. That's the sort of thinking that I've been missing in my past games. 24 players isn't all that unusual with the games that are run here, at least lately! Yeah, multiple eliminations are fairly common to happen at least a couple times in the early/mid game. As for twists, there's like a hundred per cent chance that behind that password is an idol. Possibly one for each tribe? More than one idol in the game at once is likely, at the least. There are gonna be probably like 2 swaps. And in the last pokemon game there was an early fake merge, then they went back to two tribes. So..... predicting actual twists seems like a lark. Probably best to just keep flexible and roll with what hits. Yeah, for that, I tried a couple, and then gave up. Waiting for a clue makes the most sense, I think. Okay! I'll talk to you tomorrow then. Maybe we can share first impressions on the tribe! Pichu just messaged me, and they seem to be a newbie, so that just goes with the whole 'lets not go hard on pichu' thought we had earlier. Other than that, not much to say other than goodnight! |

Day 2 them I'm totally fine with music recommendations! I feel like 90% of the time I'm in the car or at work, I'm listening to podcasts, so I've probably missed out on tons of music in recent years. I'm glad I can make good points sometimes, lol. I actually have no idea who I would want to eliminate. Pichu just messaged me, so at least he's not completely inactive. I certainly wouldn't want to get rid of you, you're totes my fave right now, and then probably followed closely by Fennekin. But, ugh, I would not want to vote for either Stunky or Unown either. These small tribes are heartbreaking ![]() Wow, so, 24 players is pretty standard, then. I watch the show off and on, but I don't recall ever seeing quite that many people on TV Survivor! I guess that's one thing that translates better or rather just differently on the internet. I have no clue how to get behind that password... where do we usually get the passwords for those rooms? So my first impressions of the tribe: You: Amazing dancer, sexy hips. My faaaaavorite. ![]() Fennekin: Super nice and easy to talk to and probably my other favorite overall on the tribe. Pichu: Seems very unsure of himself, probably very nervous/new at this, underwhelming first PM but writing that off as newbishness. Unown: I have the least PMs with Unown and they're sort of stilted a bit? But I think that's just because neither of us are strong conversationalists and need someone else to take the lead. Stunky: Been talking a bit already. He said he had been talking a bunch with Unown when we exchanged brief thoughts on other tribemates, which kind of made me scratch my head a bit since I hadn't clicked quite as well. me Great! I listen to a few podcasts, too, but where I work, it's a bit noisy, so it's hard to perfectly make out what's being said, or follow along with a conversation because I'm usually distracted with work things, so instead I tend to just listen to music. I do like to really sit down and experience good songs as thoroughly as I can, but in a work setting, music's just great as a background to tune in or out when I need to. Yeah, this decision is going to be hard. I'm a couple minutes away from leaving for work, so over the course of the day, or maybe as soon as I get home, I'll return with my impressions of them. But I can quickly say that I don't have any obvious contenders or ranking or anything like that yet. I think clues to the password will either be hidden in messages in the future, or they'll be given out as rewards, like how in the show one can find or win idol clues. But how this actually works is up to the discretion of the mods, so I guess you'd have to ask them! ![]() I don't really know why the games we play here are so inflated in size. Part of it is probably not wanting to turn away so many people who apply, and maybe there's some level of 'bigger is better' mentality? But I don't know about that - we've had games at the 24 size for a couple years now, and not yet has it ever gone even larger. Maybe everyone has just had the good sense to not push it? Lol. |

Day 2 them Eh, I wind up being alone in my office a lot... I'm in a small side-office at my work and the people who work in there with me generally work all over the state, so I have it to myself a lot, which is pretty nice for listening to music or podcasts without disturbing anyone. Most of my podcasts wind up being pretty vulgar because I listen to a lot of comedy podcasts, so I can't really listen to those when people are around. Let me know what you think of the others. I sorta get the feeling everyone's being kinda cagey about their thoughts because nobody wants to be the first person to go, "Oopsies!" and step in poo by saying they want to get rid of someone else first, but something's gonna have to break at some point. Oooh, the idea of them being given out as rewards or in hidden messages is pretty cool, actually! I guess if we have a big community here then I could see doing big 24 person games. That just seems so big though. I guess it's also kinda because these games seem to take awhile and nobody wants to have to wait so long for a game to finish with only 16 people in it? me Okay, first and foremost, my impressions: Bellsprout - silly little kid. adored by all. threat level as huge as their lips. do not trust. Fennekin - what's in those froufy ears? [gif] really fun to talk to, but i can see her being just about everyone's favorite. fantastic social game and the stink of lots of game experience. big threat. Pichu - newbie. very educated. will probably pick up the game fast, and become a force later in the game. for now, likely a loyal ally. also delightful to talk to. Squirtle - reminds me a lot of myself, probably because we seem to have similar records. great to talk to. would like to work with closely. :] Stunky - responds in length, but i feel less attached to than most of the tribe. jokes around a lot but to be honest, not humor to my taste. still has a strong seeming social presence. Unown - weakest impression so far. i agree with you that he seems a bit unnatural in conversation. hardest to talk to. Yeah, I think it's pretty standard form to not be the one who suggests a name first. Everyone's gotta feel everything out, and see if an easy consensus can be found. I think, from the way things are going, you and I can both see that barring anyone sticking their neck out to make a play, the consensus is going to shift to either Pichu or Unown. I don't know about you, but I don't really want that to happen. I mean, we've already discussed how Pichu needs to get a fair shake, as a newbie. And while I agree that I'm not really bonding much with Unown, it always feels just lazy letting the tribe slide toward an inevitable 'vote out the less charismatic player'. What are you feeling about that? Haha, well then if you want us all to jump into the bringing up names part of the game, how about you start? What are you thinking about that? (I'll be honest, I have a name in mind, but I want to feel you out a bit before I just spring out the big ol' pitch!) It looks like they're doing the same thing as last game, and putting the clues by the subforum itself. So far, I got nothing with Clue 1. To be honest, I really like having a game this big. It just feels like you're packing in so much more fun. :] them Well then, you're adored by all but I shouldn't trust you... SOUNDS PERFECT!Fennekin is definitely strong, everyone seems so enamored with her, myself included. I can't tell if I'm special or if she's this great with everyone. Pichu is very smart. I was so shocked he was a newbie...he seems so well educated and well situated in the game and picked up the art of PMing pretty quickly. Squirtle is obviously amazing and obviously someone to work with because he's so lovely. Stunky is someone I've really bonded with over talking about our families/upbringing but it's a weird vibe. Like it's super serious and in depth and not lighthearted like my other PMs. Unown is an unknown. ![]() I definitely agree with you that it would suck to let the vote slide to Unown or Pichu, for sure. I mean, I might not be as upset about Unown just because I'm having such a hard time connecting with him, but I do agree it feels bad to get rid of someone who might be a little socially anxious or awkward. Then again, it's a social game. I dunno, I can definitely feel where you're coming from on that one, but it's one I'd have to think about, because turning the lens elsewhere would mean voting Fennekin or Stunky, both of who I really like. But augh, again, I know I should be willing to vote people I really like, it's just hard to do. I don't know if I could do it to Stunky, if I'm being honest. Our conversation is so RAW and emotional, it's so freakin' weird. I'm getting a strong vibe that you'd prefer to get rid of Fennekin. Am I wrong? My only concern about making a big play with you against a huge player like that is that I'm fairly certain Fennekin is already much closer with Unown that you or I are? I dunno, I definitely got that vibe when talking to Fen about the players in the game. I also really got a big pro-Unown vibe from the Stunk/Un connection, but that was yesterday so it might've tampered down a bit. I just wonder about the tribe makeup at this point. Nobody's talking alliances or deals with me, yet, which makes me worried there's already one out there and one wrong move/play would set their sights on me. them Oh, and Unown keeps going on and on about how well he and Pichu are hitting it off and how many PMs they have. me Yeah, you've hit the nail on the head, actually. Fenny is, frankly, too fantastic. I like him plenty, don't get me wrong, but if we follow through on voting out the weaker social games, we gotta think where that sort of path leads. First Pichu, then maybe Unown, or Stunky. Then it's probably you, if I had to guess. I mean, I know I could probably worm my way into whatever Fenny alliance gets made. But why should we be competing for his affections when we can seize control for ourselves? If you're concerned about the vote breakdown, here's my thoughts as to a plan. First, we sit on this until actual TC talk begins. We go along nicely with whatever's said until we have an idea who Fenny is gonna be targeting. Then we approach that player, I'm guessing it'd be either Pichu or Unown, but whoever it is, we tell them the danger they're in, and we flip it. That makes an easy three out of six. If you're close to Stunky, we can probably pull him in, but I know I can make a winning case to Pichu to get her vote. I mean, since the start of the plan is based entirely on not acting until we know who would be going home if we do nothing, I think it absolutely can't hurt us to just consider this, and talk it over now. There's no reason to let this get out to anyone else, so worst-case scenario: we just don't act on it. But, I'll be honest. I feel like the longer we let Fennekin stay in this game, the stronger the bonds he'll build with others. The less chance we have of making this move later, or possibly ever. The social game is the hardest to take down, and it's one that usually doesn't get targeted until it's too late. That's what I'm thinking, at least. I just really don't want to walk out of this game knowing I could have done something, but didn't. them Okay, I totally see your point. I do. I think it's smart to wait... because what if Fenne is thinking the same thing and is wanting to take out you or me as social threats or something? What's our path to victory then, if Fennekin turns on one of us? Gotta test for that scenario, right? Let's make sure this plan is airtight. If Fennekin goes after Pichu/Unown: You can take that information to Pichu/Unown and flip them to our side, then wrangle the other one over, so even if Stunky doesn't go with us, we'll have 4. If Fennekin goes after Stunky: I can go to Stunky and flip that around and you can bring one of Pichu/Unown on board, right? If Fennekin goes after one of us...: What do we do, here? I agree that a person who is well liked is harder to take down later. It just always sucks to take out someone you like. I definitely like the way you think It's cutthroat and ruthless and that's how it should be. I was worried this game would be all people playing patty-cakes and acting nice to each other, so it's good to see some actual game talk from someone.Day 3 me Okay, so with immunity won, we have another couple days before there's any need to progress this plan. You've certainly hit the most troubling possibility, if Fennekin were to draw the target onto either of us, but - and I admit this is merely a hunch - from my conversations with Fennekin, I feel like he's content to leave me in the game. As I keep talking with him, I'll see if I can draw an impression about you out of him, but I'm of the impression that he's unlikely to start with a big play like going for either of us. That being said, if this does happen, I still think we can count on Pichu to side with us. I don't know about Stunky, I can tell he likes Fennekin quite a bit, so if he's forced to choose a side, I don't know where he'd go. Fen probably has Unown. We'll have to feel things out and do everything we can to not leak anything that would draw Fenny's attention our way. I haven't discussed this with anyone else, but I think that goes without saying. Anyways, how are you doing, lately? I'm sorry that I've been slow to respond today - work has me running in circles and last night I was just drained after getting home. |

cont. Day 3 them We'll see what shakes out... from what I understand, he's slightly frustrated with Pichu's relative inactivity, but that's just me reading between the lines at this point. I think he's fond of Stunky. I think Stunky would still side with me, or at least I hope he would. We may not have to even worry about this on this tribe for now, but I'm definitely curious about filling out the map in my head of how everyone's connected. Fennekin is a mystery to me. But I think you're right and he won't make a move against us unless he knows he has support, and I can't see Stunky conspiring against us. I'm doing great -- pretty relaxed today! It's not so cold here anymore so that's nice. What's going on with your work? me I don't want to talk to much about it because I know there are people who play these that know what job I have. I don't want to accidentally ID myself. Vaguely, though, I work outside. Labor-intensive, but fairly well-paid to make up for it. We're in the middle of a busy season, so the last few days have been rough. Right now I'm bundled under every blanket I can find. My feet are still freezing. And my hands, but that's because I'm typing on my computer. Strongly considering actually digging out my mitts from my jacket pockets, but I'd feel a bit silly. It's too damn cold here. Have you had any luck with that password yet? I've been digging away at it, but sadly, I never played X/Y, so I'm limited to wikicrawls to try fill in the gaps that I have in my knowledge about Kalos. The sad part is, I'm getting the impression that even with further clues, this just is too far out of my wheelhouse. Oh well. Who even wants a stinking idol. Not me >.> |

cont. Day 3 them Oof, physical labor sounds like the woooorst. I'm not envious of you. X_X My father LOVES working outdoors and I just don't understand it. More power to those that do it, though, because it's a skill/frame of mind that I'll almost never have. Why are you so cold!? Are you not indoors!? You're not camping in the winter, are you!? I have NOT even tried that password. My Pokemon knowledge is so limited, and I know there are so many people here who know Pokemon better than me that it feels fruitless to even try at this point. me I really don't know why it was so cold before. I feel much better now. Maybe it's because my apartment is basement level? I feel like that should make it better insulated, but I guess cold air flows down. Either way, I'm back in a t-shirt and just lounging on my bed. Oops, that sounded like the answer to a sexy 'what are you wearing' question. Maybe I should send you a coy picture. (totally not hitting on you :P)Yeah, I know I should probably just give up, but I see it there, staring at me, and I'm staring back. And I just gotta answer the call. I don't care if I'm the last person to find it, I want to see what's behind that locked door. them I'm glad you're feeling better now Being cold sucks. Though, I think I prefer being cold to being hot. When you're cold you can keep bundling up, but when you're hot, all you can do is get naked and then...what do you even have left after that? (Funny that I just followed up the accidental "what are you wearing" PM by talking about being naked)Well, if you find the password, tell me what's behind the door! I'm curious. I keep seeing viewers in there on the main forum index, so I'm expecting whatever's in there is gone already, but it's worth a shot. So are you still wanting to take out Fennekin at TC if we go? How close are you with the others? Any changes from last time we spoke? me Oh don't worry about the viewers thing. You're treated as viewing that forum even when you're outside it and at the password entry step. I mean, they could be in there, sure. But they aren't necessarily. Yeah, I completely agree with cold vs hot. I hate the summer. Even where I am being just the most frigid in winter, I'd much rather be here than... Arizona or wherever that has terrible summers. I haven't changed my plans yet, nope. If I did, I'd run it by you, don't worry. I know we haven't really had the official 'are we gonna be allies' question & answer step yet, but I'm treating us as full-fledged allies anyways. Hope that doesn't bother you! So basically, yeah, I'm gonna tell you whatever important comes up.I've been talking to Pichu about Fennekin, not regarding a vote, but just tribal dynamics. She agrees that Fenny is clearly a power player. I'm not gonna direct anything beyond that, but it's good to have that bouncing around in her head for when I want to bring up the vote later. I'm also chatting with Fenny a lot. Really keeping friendly with him so things look on the up-and-up. We've just now gotten to discussing weak links. Fenny carefully sidestepped being the first one to say a name (he said that up until the challenge started, he WOULD have said Pichu, but her help with stats turned that around), but that was fine with me because I was actually looking for a chance to make Fen think I was most open to voting out Unown. Naturally, I made a soft suggestion in that direction, and now my hope is Fen sees that as an easy direction to push and I can let him take the reins on it. And then we use that momentum to flip Unown and oust Fenny. ![]() How's things with you regarding all this? them Ah okay -- well, maybe someone has not found it yet, but I can't even try. I just don't know enough about Pokemon ![]() I'm glad you're treating it that way! That makes me feel a bit better because I was pretty worried about how everyone seems to be saying Unown was closer to them than he seems to be to me, but slowly people have kinda taken a liking to me, I think. I would love for us to be official allies. I'm trying to kind of just test the waters and see what everyone is thinking about any POTENTIAL lynches and so far I'm not getting much back other than, "Well, I don't really want to just vote the easy vote..." so there's definitely room for something to be brewing in the waters outside of the default plan of "get rid of Unown". I think that's a good sign for the whole "take out a threat instead of an inactive" plan you were talking about originally. Oooh, how close are you with Pichu? Like, has she explicitly stated she wants to work with you? Or shown interest? I'm just wondering where Pichu's loyalties lie at this point, because everyone's infatuated and I can't really draw any connections there. I'm doing well with it, I just feel like I'm potentially stepping into a minefield. This tribe is full of smart, charismatic players who seem to know what they're doing. me I think I could call what I have with her an unofficial alliance. As you might be able to tell, I like working with even partnerships, as opposed to a leader/follower dynamic for an alliance, so I try to choose people who are on similar level to me. I started out with Pichu just giving her advice, but I really see her as being such a fast level that she'll probably be as level-headed and knowledgeable regarding the game and strategies as I feel I am. So while we haven't really brokered anything official, I'm slowly working my way into trying to get a relationship there. If you like her too, we could turn this into a really strong trio, I think. I know she's said that she likes you, so maybe you should take your opening, slugger! *light punch to your arm* Yeah, I totally feel you on how it feels like so much of my conversations are just trying to avoid a misstep. You're the only person I feel like I can candidly talk game with right now, but I'm broaching some safer subjects with Pichu too. With Fen, as I've said, I'm basically lying through my teeth along the 'party line' of safe votes. Haven't even started to talk game with Stunky or Unown, and I don't think I'll be the one to bring it up with them if I don't have to. It's starting to get a bit late for me, and I've got a few PMs to respond to still. I'll hang around for the next hour, but I'll be a bit distracted. Will try to reply once more before bed, and then I'll basically be busy at work, probably. If I don't talk to you before then, I'll see you tomorrow! :] |

I'd love to beat my record from previous games, though that isn't really saying a whole lot
