One the day the duck was born
The fox was watching all along
He said, "Land ho" when he saw the duck
Land ho and the duck saw him too

Shiny pretty fox, thought the duck

The duck came up onto the land
The fox saw her and he just laughed

"I could show you some shiny tricks", he said
"Come along we'll get our kicks," he said
"Land ho" for shiny tricks "Land ho" for me

Oh fox, is this love? Can you tell me? What is love?

That good looking fox only knew one trick
He could break hearts just lickety split
The duck knew this game she had to quit
And her own pond she was headed to quick
I'll go, I'll go and there's no looking back

Goodbye little fox
Goodbye my fox

So this morning I was thinking. I was thinking about something I'd heard someone say a while ago. Probably after the end of PSV, or some other game.

"No one ever goes after the social threat. Challenge beasts and strategists are taken out for being threats, but the social threat isn't."
That's a paraphrasing, because I don't know exactly when it was said, and I can't remember who said it. But it stuck with me at the time, and it came back to me last night. Last night, I met Fennekin. Fennekin is a social threat. A clear-and-away favorite for most people who will ever talk to him. I have to admit, I was quite taken with Fennekin when I spoke to him. I saw the next entry of a pattern, one that's been following me in all of my games. I have a bad habit of falling for a certain kind of player, and giving up my game because I enjoy playing it with them so much. I was immediately conflicted when I spoke with Fen, and since then, I'd been thinking.
I think... after our first Tribal Council, there will be only one of us still in the game. I'm going to hunt the fox.

Now, as I see it, most first tribal councils are about the tribe sliding into the easiest decision that everyone can agree on. It's almost always the inactive, the outsider, the one who people just don't click with. This is because everyone's still so busy trying to find their place in the tribe and the game, that all their concerned with is making sure no one's saying their name. People are all very careful not to poke the bear by bringing up a target, so they beat around the bush and see if they can tell who's liked just a little bit less by the tribe as a whole. It's an easy, safe vote for most of the tribe.
And it's a situation that always yields the most benefit for the one or two players that are most liked. It solidifies whatever power structure they're setting up.
Right now, I see Fennekin as the player most at the core of whatever power structure this game will have. At least, he will be if things progress as they usually do. Which would probably be a Pichu or Unown vote. I've been doing my best to make myself seem like a very valuable ally to Pichu. And I've been feeling out the possibility of an Unown vote, which would be ideal to gain a little traction. My plan is to let a wagon start for either of those two, and then swoop in as the hero, chandelier crashing down, elegant rapier dancing in the air as I gloriously rescue the two of them, and collect their votes in a counterwagon.
So far, my strongest lead is actually Squirtle. I've found that I feel like I can trust him the most right now, so I was careful to broach the subject of all this to him. He seems quite receptive, and we're now discussing the intricacies of this move.
I'm on pins and needles, to be completely honest. There's so much that can go wrong, and even if it goes off without a hitch, I'm choosing not only to avoid the safe way to play the game, but also painting a target on my back for those looking out for threats and possibly making enemies out of those who decide they prefered Fennekin to myself.
I'm most certainly taking the path of villainy here. I'm just hoping that this time, evil wins.

Fennekin feels safe. That's good. I'm feeling quite tight with Squirtle, and I think when the time comes, our strike will be quick and unanticipated.

As the saying goes... Grow big or grow home

I always love it when players go bells to the wall

I wish you good luck in leafing your competition in the dust
