Hi, my name's D.Va. In this thread, I actually edit things. Each episode (including pregame be quiet), I'm planning to write about what I'm doing this episode, what I think about everyone else etc. So if you want something even approaching lucid or cogent...go read someone else's confessional.

So what I'm planning to do with this game is just be as social as I'm capable of. I know that I'm not experienced enough to look like a big threat, or even to know what I'm doing that much, really. I've read through a couple of the previous games, but you can't read PMs in those games. So really, I'm going to look pretty useless. However, I'm a pretty fast learner, so I think I'm going to find my feet later in the game. Newbies have won the game before, and I'm a huge fan of the show as well, so I've certainly got a shot if I make people like me early in the game.

Am I doing a great job of making people like me? I'm not sure, to be honest. I think a good quality that I've had so far is letting conversations flow. Like, I've talked to Kelly (that's my name for Kel'Thuzad) about magic cards. I've been talking to Azmo about Survivor and the joy of learning. I think I'm not a bad conversationalist. What I am worried about is the length of my PMs. It's not that everyone else has been sending me walls and I've been responding with "yes" or anything, but I'm just a little shorter pretty consistently, and maybe that makes it feel like work talking to me.

I've started forming alliances, of course. It's Survivor, not happy fun land, and I know I'm going to need friends who are good at the game to advocate for me when it comes to tribal council (I will do the same for them, of course). To that end, I've made an alliance with two of the three players who logged on first (Sarah and Azmo). I think they're both good players from their PMs with me, and I've been hearing great things about them, Azmo especially. I've also allied with Diablo, who I haven't heard great things about, but he knows the show, and I'm making a bet that he has a clue. These connections will help me later, and I'm trying to talk to everyone. Rend is so hard to talk to though! I sent him a PM with a continuation of our previous conversation, a joke, and a couple of opinions on players in the game. He sent me back the exact same opinions about the same players but shorter and a response to the joke. I have no idea what to say to him. If it was Kelly, I'd talk about the new magic expansion or something. But all of my previous PMs with Rend are basically just "I like survivor" "Yeah I like it too, I thought this season and last are well edited. Cambodia is pretty good too." "I wouldn't say well edited" "Really, I think Kaoh Rong's editing was fine, here's some reasons. Also here's a joke about idols" "Responds to joke".

So, day 2 tribe swap. Who did I get put with? Gearmaster, Auriel, a very good player in Sol, a much less active player in Symmetra, and a player who maybe isn't as good in Ana. It's really early in the game, I didn't want to draw rocks or anything silly, and I wanted allies that would last a while so I could reconnect with them if I also last a while. The flip was super-easy, and I was negotiating it within 20 minutes of the swap. Sol pushed hard for gearmaster, which was a vote that hit a couple of hurdles with the Symmetra self-vote and Ana's early opposition. I personally can take credit for pushing the vote through without needless drama or anything like that. I personally sent Gear's PMs onwards to Ana, and I personally told Auriel who the target was so that Symmetra's inactivity and Ana's shakyness couldn't matter. I've kind of been a powerful player on this tribe, but I don't give the appearence of being on top. Sol is on top, and he just gives out such a vibe of being a power player, that if Heaven and Hell join into one, I could hide behind him easily. This is accentuated by the fact that I've been telling anyone who will listen how clueless I am, which is true to an extent. It ensures that players on Heaven won't be threatened by me, but will still listen to me. And it ensures that players in a swap will be more threatened by the other folks on my tribe.

Basically, I think I'm not doing too badly. It looks like I have a good shot of going through this tribe, and hopefully the next one as well.

Are you worried about people seeing through you telling them you're clueless?

I'm actually new and pretty clueless, don't you worry about that. I'm just mentioning it and playing it up a little.
