Episode 1: Dowdle Fire here's most of it. I'll edit in any more responses in a bit

STOKE I think I should do this now?
- Russell

Yeah every two hours. Lucky it's not the night so this isn't a long night for both of us. How are you doing Sean? It's nice to be able to finally get some alone time with one person. I'm seriously having withdrawal from that.

I'm doing great! How're you been? I know! This is such a drastic change, I'm so used to being able to PM everyone all the time. At least I finally get to talk to you now.

Yeah yeah I'm good! I've been enjoying posting a lot haha. Perhaps a bit too much. In real life, maybe not so great but I'd prefer not to talk about that. These games are a good pick-me-up anyway. Great Survivor season as well, and Doctor Who started up just very recently. Yeah, I hope we can shoot a few messages in this time!

Your level of activity seems fine to me. With this setup I'd post a lot too if I had more time. And at least you haven't been whining about your uterus every post, that's always a plus imo. I get that. These games tend to be my escape from reality too. Who do you like in this survivor season? The season's definitely been exciting, but all my favorite people keep getting eliminated Also, why'd you choose Russell as a character? He was sooooo mean and cutthroat.
- Russell
- Apr 17 2017, 11:55:45 AM
Yeah, I do wonder how good old Jaclyn will go. I doubt she'll make it far, but people with weirder restrictions have done well. Yeah I do agree with you that I liked a lot of the characters. Malcolm (although not OBNOXIOUS MALCOLM FAN), JT, Sandra (who doesn't tbh?) at least. It's a shame the winners are out and people like Sierra are still in but it is what it is. People I'm rooting for are Aubrey Troyzan and Cirie. People I'm rooting against are Hali and Tai.
Russell was a strange pick but I think my pregame plan was to pretend to know little about Survivor? I decided against it later of course (it seems like Eddie has that base covered. Did you notice he said we're the "gayest tribe I've ever been on" but then claimed to have never watched or played the game). Russell then is a pretty default pick for someone new to the show. Other picks were Rob M, Cochran, Parv etc. I struggled finding girls in that vain though, because the fanbase actually likes Sandra and Kim. Sean is a good pick. Memorable, but not so much baggage.

Yeah, it's hard to say. That restriction is just so obnoxious. At least she's not on our tribe I liked those people. I liked Jeff Varner too, but he deserved to go after that tribal. Out of the people left, I'm probably rooting for Troyzan, I'm not quite so invested in it anymore now that the queen's gone though. I didn't notice that. I mainly just skimmed the thread and didn't pay attention cause I was pretty busy. That's interesting though, I'll have to keep my eye on Eddie now. Russell is a very well know character, just for bad reasons. Finding girls was kind of hard. I had Sandra was my top pick for girls, cause I don't mind being a fan favorite then I think I had Andrea and Cirie after her? I wanted Sean for those reasons, not completely irrelevant and unknown, but also not super popular seemed like the right mix to me. Plus you have to adore how fair and kind he was, right?
- Russell
- Apr 17 2017, 12:29:06 PM
Oh yeah yeah I think Jeff Varner is really fun to have around, even if he has been booted prejury three times. I honestly find it really hypocritical that some people are baying for his blood and he got fired from his job when those same people knew about and talked about Zeke being trans for 6 months or so now. But whatever. For clear reasons, not my favourite discussion topic. I do like Troyzan. There's been a lot of love for Troy recently which is good because preseason he was considered bad casting and he didn't win the vote for Second Chances. Brad too, they've been good this season. A pleasant surprise.
Haha yeah. My plan was to be like "I picked Russel because everywhere I go on this show, people are talking about this Russell chap". But eh, I couldn't be bothered hiding my true survivor knowledge to be honest. I know lots of people hide that stuff but I can't see the advantage? I found trouble not finding girls I enjoy but finding ubiquitous girls that would make me look dumb for picking them. I think I ended up taking Aubrey and Michaela. Andrea and Cirie were good picks. I reckon a lot of people are whacking Andrea in with the Sierra tier of irrelevant people in past seasons. Those people obviously need to rewatch RI and Caramoan haha just kidding no they don't.
- Sean
- Apr 17 2017, 12:43:37 PM
Yeah, he's been fairly entertaining. I feel bad for him after that whole ordeal. I think it just up being a pretty awful thing for everyone involved. Brad's done well too, he's just not arrogant or funny enough for me to like him. Plus he kind of seems to be in control of things, so I feel obligated to root against him.
Yeah, I don't see much of an advantage to lying about that. I generally try to be as honest as possible when it comes to non game related stuff. Haha yeah, I don't think Andrea's near as bad as Sierra, but she's also not super great, I have mixed feelings about her.

- Apr 17 2017, 01:14:32 PM
You know what? I'm just gonna pull the trigger. It's really hard to know when sometimes I think? In PMs I would wait a while. But here, we've only got twelve hours, man. I intend to be around for most of it but still I want to get this conversation started sooner. You might have noticed that we're the only two person group in our whole tribe, and we have no girls in this group. That was intentional by me, I grabbed fire and I created the tribe task day plan. So yeah, I want to ally you. Let's ally. Or whatever it is we're supposed to do. Us having this chance to talk beats everyone else's so we can get an advantage here.
Oh, I also noticed that it takes 5 stamina to stoke but you took a 15 stamina hit already so I'll do the next two stokes to make it even.
Yeah I absolutely feel bad for Jeff. I mean, he got fired from his job for one comment he said a year ago on reality television that he apologized for minutes later. I don't envy his position right now at all. Not that I support his words but eh. Brad...yeah I don't think he was great on his last season and he's probably only coming back because of his NFL crap but he's doing a great job here and he's fun as well, he's not soul sucking. Andrea would have probably been a good pick for me actually. She's probably the female epitome of someone who isn't really that interesting but makes a lot of moves? Like, she's a huge threat.

Sorry about kinda slow responding, I actually play attention during statistics class. I was kind of excited that we got to be the only two here. I find it much easier to have one on one talks. I'd love to ally with you! having somebody I can trust and work with early in the game will be really awesome. Brad was in the NFL? I had no idea about that and I follow football somewhat closely. He must've been before my time. I have been impressed with the way he's played so far. Yeah, she's not super interesting which makes me have a somewhat hard time rooting for her, but she does seem more strategically capable than a good chunk of people.

- Apr 17 2017, 03:12:11 PM
Oh well not that slow! Most people have to do things and can't be around for full 12 hour periods. Classes, eating, sleep, friends. Important, so I have been told. Thanks for agreeing to that! I feel like getting a strong connection early is important in this game even more than perhaps other games because of the lack of opportunities for it. Like, I might be a fan of Clarence or Frosti, but us having the first chat gives us two the clear upper hand and incentive to ally over others. Plus, I like you too. Its always nice to have a fan of the show around. Yeah Brad was in the NFL. Don't know which team, soccer is my sport so I know little about it, see. But his being a sportsman was talked about by Monjca....constantly. I think he's in his mid 40s now so it would have been 20 years ago maybe?
- Sean
- Apr 17 2017, 03:40:52 PM
Well I'm trying to be here as much as possible, with so little opportunities to talk I want to make the most of them. I think so. I feel like making a good first impression on people and establishing bonds will be a big deal in this game with so few opportunities.
Ahh, do you like watching or playing soccer more? I googled it and he was a DT for a while in the 90s. So that's a while before I watched any football.

Ah sorry thanks for covering me. I'll take the next one. Had to pop off for a little bit there. Still got a few hours left, though. I just had to run a few errands, eat and so forth. Nothing too exciting. Sorry, I'll be here for the whole four hours left, I promise. I prefer watching sports to actually playing sports haha. I'm not a strong or particularly useful guy when playing sports. Fun for me but everyone else might have a different story . I do like soccer (Our local league is pretty shit, so I mostly follow the Premier League. I couldn't tell you like exactly who every player is or something like that, but I enjoy being a filthy casua). I also sometimes watch cycling, of all things. My parents got really into it a few years ago? I don't know but it is surprisingly intense, watching a cycle race. Gotta stay up late though. Them European timezones.

Who are the people you're liking from this tribe? Not from a standpoint of "oh let's pull in four people, majority alliance FTW!". But just from you know, what's your perspective? Personally I saw the most active people as Eddie and John but yeah Eddie's got some negatives lol. He seems...very open from my perspective. I think he says things in public that later on could be a problem. I mean, we were all saying we enjoyed making the plans, but there's one post in which Eddie was like "I want to work with you guys again heartemoji" which is just...not the type of thing people say in public? And I'm still pretty sure he's a survivor fan pretending to not know about it. Behind those guys it was like Frosti and Penner read everything but never posted was what I thought. And then obviously a lot of guys had RL issues or were drunk or whatever. Going to that thread on Easter was never going to be a priority for most people.

3 viewers Sean we're the popular kids.

Don't worry about it.
I'm pretty much the same way. I did try signing up for a soccer league at school and that has been a disaster. I've been horrible at it and my team is dead last in the league. So after finishing it I think I'll just stick to playing sports videogames and watching. Our pro soccer league is pretty horrible. For me the majority of soccer I watch is the country related things like the world cup, COPA, etc. I've never watched much cycling at all, I generally tend to stick to the more american sports since that's what's shown on TV more around here.
- Russell

Mmm sports video games. I used to be like way into sports games, actually. Football manager, FIFA, etc. Maybe I should pick up the latest FIFA. Or maybe I should pick up the FIFA from two years ago which I can get for like 8 dollars but is functionally identical to the latest game. Actually...why I stopped playing these games is flooding back to me! But yeah I much prefer it to playing things. I could graze my knee doing things, Sean! I can bowl 200 on Wii Sports bowling compared to like 90 in real life.
Yeah any country that calls it soccer is probably pretty bad at soccer, actually. I mean, cycling is a niche sport everywhere. But Americans are pretty good at it. They have 3* tour de france wins. Lance Armstrong? No idea what you're talking about.
- Sean
- Apr 17 2017, 07:20:24 PM
yeah, the sports games don't change a lot from year to year. The only real difference tends to be the rosters getting outdated after a while. And then if you want to play online it tends to be easier to find people to play with the latest versions. If you do get Fifa 17 though, let me know and I'll play you! I know! And my fifa superstar will actually score a goal every once in a while! I'm 10x better at videogames than real life.
Considering I think we're one of the only people who call it soccer, I'd agree with that.
- Russell
- Apr 17 2017, 07:44:56 PM
Yeah it's just "other people also bought this thing, please buy it for 60$". I'm a hipster. I can play old games. They're retro, right? But I will let you know if I do end up buying it. You would smash me anyway LOL. I'm a little out of practise.
I think we call it soccer and the Australians call it soccer. I actually have no idea if like the South Africans call it soccer or the Canadians call it soccer. I don't even know what the fuck soccer is supposed to mean, man. I can understand the words foot and ball much easier. But I guess calling it soccer is a good way of expressing our hatred of it as a culture haha.
- Sean
- Apr 17 2017, 08:04:32 PM
As long as you're decent at playing videogames, you'd probably stand a decent chance against me tbh. My online record on fifa is pretty atrocious. When it comes to sports games, I've played Madden and MLB a lot more and are better at them.
I dunno what it means either, football makes much more sense. It seems like the sensible thing to do would be to just call it football and rename american football since they use their feet to kick once every 30 plays or something. I guess calling it soccer and having american football is our way of telling the world we invented a better game or something. idk
- Russell
- Apr 17 2017, 08:37:12 PM
I'm pretty sure the Australians have their own football version as well? They have the same ball as NFL but the goal is to kick it through two really big sticks. And if you hit one of the sticks, it's worth 6 times less than if you get it in the middle of the sticks. I don't get it, man. I like sports where it's just like "yes, go faster" or "use your feet, kick it through the goal". When it's like "and they're going with the Nickelback play bold choice" I find it odd. The thing I dislike most about Football is that it's like really segmented? Wheras most sports are always going. So there's much less sports and much more discussion about plays and stuff. And I don't know what most of those things mean. Barrier to entry is pretty high. Which is why I laugh whenever a sports fan is like "them vidja games are too complicated. go outside". Like hmmmmm just keep talking about those incredibly complicated statistics, man.

Yeah, american football can be pretty confusing and ridiculous sometimes. There's not super clear definitions of penalties and what counts as a catch and that can lead to lots of controversies. And I totally get that about it not going constantly, it'll take them 3 hours to play a game that has a 1 hour clock. For me I like to just put football or baseball on in the background and kind of watch it while I'm doing other stuff on my laptop. I can't sit there and intently focus on every play, I would get bored in a heartbeat if I did that.
