FOOTBALL DERBY ENDS IN VIOLENCE

The latest Arrakeen Derby between Arrakeen United and Arrakeen Athletic saw mass violence outside the ground and over 80 arrests as rival fans clashed following a 0-0 draw. As fans exited the United Stadium flares were thrown towards rival fans before the Athletic fans broke through a police cordon and were meet by a barrage of bricks and bottles. It took Police over an hour to bring the area under control and three Police officers were injured during the troubles. The game has often seen trouble as not only the teams local rivals and perennial table toppers, but the fans traditionally find themselves supporting different Holy Families. Traditionally speaking the United fans are supporters of the Atreides family while the Athletic fans give loyalty to the Harkonnens. Both families had appealed for fans to behave before the game and Matthias Harkonnen, Duke Richard Harkonnen's middle son, was at the game. He said, "Everyone knows football brings out the passion in people but there is no excuse for this, while ourselves and the Atreides have in the past competed for prestige in various fields we've never resorted to violence, at least not in the last few hundred years. I'm saddened people who claim to be loyal to our family have taken this action today bringing discredit to us."

Meanwhile Duke Oswald Atreides called for those arrested to, "be punished as severely as possible, this has become an almost twice annual scene and that's unacceptable, I have in the past spoken on behalf of client citizens of the Atreides family, however anyone arrested on this occasion is on their own and must pay a heavy price for the violence on the streets of our wonderful capital."

Both teams are being investigated by the Kaitaine Football Association (KFA) and are likely to be fined heavily and possibly face the prospect of playing games behind closed doors.

REVEREND MOTHER ORDERS MARRIAGE MATCH

Following a meeting of the heads of the four branches of the Bene Gesserit the Reverend Mother Helen Mirriam has ordered the match of Tristen Corrino, the 2nd son of Duke Niklaus Corrino, and Louise Harkonnen, the grand-daughter of Duke Richard Harkonnen. It is the first direct bloodline marriage between Holy Houses in sixty years. The Reverend Mother said, "following extensive scrutiny from the Missionara Protectiva and the Priesthood we have determined that as a descendent of Niklaus his son Tristen is likely to have the superb potential of his father. Meanwhile Louise has two very fine parents and is expected to be blessed with their qualities, this match will produce a strong blood line."

The two families are also said to approve of the marriage which will take place on Louise's 18th birthday in 2028, when Tristen will be 22 years of age. Neither family have however spoken of the children's reactions but it is understood the two will be introduced to each other soon.

The Reverend Mother also spoke of the need for "Fresh Noble" blood stating, "back in the days of the past exceptional potential as seen in Niklaus Corrino was common, however as modern science has informed us limiting the pool of DNA can be damaging, while we will not pollute the four Holy Houses with un-noble blood it is an option for us to look at the nobility elsewhere such as aristocratic welcoming nations such as Stellatoria, Royal Seleucid and Hospitalaria. should someone be found with what we consider great potential then we shall if the situation is right consider them for marriage into the Holy Houses, or admission to Chapterhouse." This stance would mark the first time a non-Kaitainian would have married into the Four Holy Houses or attended the Bene Gesserit training school.
