![]() DESALINISATION PLANT INVESTMENT ![]() King Arakos has today announced that the nation will invest in three new desalinization plants around the coast. The nation currently is able to produce 103% of the water the nation needs of the nation, however with a growing population it is expected that by 2022 there will be a shortage of fresh water unless something changed. The new plants will open on the Eastern coast and shall utilise solar power as a means of purifying the water, once completed the new plants will ensure the nation is able to meet 105% of its water needs. The extra water will, as always be bottled and a stockpile kept for emergency with the rest being exported. The plants will take three years to build and it is hoped that they will create around 3,000 jobs. The King has also spoken of a plan to build a forth plant which would create water dedicated to a new irrigiation system designed to help take water to part of the desert allowing more farming. This would help the nation provide more food for the people meaning less is needed to be imported. The cost of this forth plant is to be meet by the royal family personally and is also expected to supply water to a newly created royal estate. Edited by DaveIronside, Sep 24 2016, 09:02 AM.

![]() QUEEN KATERINA INJURED IN CAR CRASH ![]() Queen Katerina, the King's 3rd and youngest wife, was yesterday injured in a car accident. The 30 year old mother of Prince Shahin was driving on the Highway out of the capital when she collided with the central reservation and then spun into another vehicle, the Queen's following security detail removed her from the vehicle and had her flown to Ipsus Royal Hospital. The driver of the other car was uninjured and taken by ambulance to the local hospital. It was later announced that the Queen has a slight concussion and a broken rib but is otherwise fine, she was released into the care of private household medical staff later that night. According to eye witnesses the Queen was seemingly driving the King's Ferrari at high speed when she lost control, this was despite having a Security vehicle in front and behind her. This is not the first time the Queen has been alleged to have been speeding, last year a speed camera caught her doing 145mph on the Highway when the limit is 80mph. It is thought the King rushed to her bed side and remained with her until discharged. The Royal Household have refused to comment on the incident only saying. "The King is concerned for his wife, he will be cancelling public appearances until convinced she is well." AHRLAC TO ENTER SERVICE IN 2017 ![]() The Air-Force are to begin recieving deliveries of the latest aircraft produced by SelAir early next year. The AHRLAC will be a low cost attack and reconnessance aircraft, it will largely be used for patrolling the desert and coasts, especially in anti smuggling operations. The aircraft costs just $8million to make and has an ability to stay airborne for 10 hours in a single sortie thanks to its light weight and unique design. One of those who has tested the new aircraft is Prince Heydar who is a Squadron Leader in the Air Force, he said. "While not as thrilling as a fast jet it is a well constructed and designed aircraft that will add something to our national defence, therefore I for one welcome it." It is expected that around 30 of the aircraft will be purchased in total. It is also suspected that foreign sales may also occur. |

![]() CROWNPRINCE HADI MASTERMINDS ECONOMIC FORUM ![]() Today the King's eldest son, Crown Prince Hadi, has affixed his signature onto a treaty creating the Terran Economic Forum, an organisation designed to help promote economic co-operation, trade and industry across the globe. The treaty was originally presented to the gathered nations by the CrownPrince and passed unamended. This is the first overseas visit by Hadi, who was accompanied by his wives Princesses Yasmine and Korina, and has been hailed as a total success by King Akakois. The King spoke on his way to visit a military passing out parade saying, "I am proud of Hadi, he has shown that one day he is more than capable of taking control as King. To draft an interational treaty on this scale is a good achievement for my son, the first of many he will bring." It is expected that several other nations will add their names to the document in the coming days joining Royal Seleucid, Ryokuto and Deyang. |

![]() CONSUL KARPOS TO BE REPLACED ![]() The Head of the King's Council, Consul Karpos Simonides is set to be replaced following an announcement from the King's Office. The Consul is considered a family friend of King Akakios and is even an adopted uncle to Princess Afroditi, therefore the move has come as somewhat of a shock. The King's Office however released a statement stating, "The Consul has served with dedication and integrity, he has been an exceptional guardian of the Kingdom however time has come for younger blood, the King wishes Karpos a long and happy retirement and the joys of his family." So far the King has not announced he will take over, however many are speculating that it may be Crown Prince Hadi who has recently been successful in steering the creation of the Terran Economic Forum, a move that has helped shape his future as a gifted diplomat. It is also likely that the move to Consul will be seen as a step towards preparing him for ruling one day. The Consul is responsible for many of the day to day affairs on the Kingdom and ensuring the budget is well scrutinised to ensure the citizens tax money is being spent effectively. There are traditionally several other cabinet removals at the time of a change of Consul and it is likely the King is likely to look for a position for his younger son Prince Heydar. There have been calls from a minority for a female to be appointed to the cabinet however the ultra-conservative religious Anahita monarch is unlikely to follow these calls. ![]() IPSUS TO HOST BUSINESS EXPO Crown Prince Hadi has today announced that preparations are underway for the capital to host an international Business Expo. Speaking upon his return from the creation of the Terran Economic Forum the 37 year old Prince said, "We now have doors opening for trade, that is a truly fantastic first step, now we must begin a journey of economic oppurtunity, to do that we must begin connecting businesses. It is my hope that some of the largest businesses from across our world will come to our city and show off their wares and oppurtunities. We will make all feel welcome and it is my hope Economic Ministers, Foreign Ministers and even Head's of State will come, enjoy Seleucid hospitality and make some serious money." It is likely that the Crown Princes' younger brother Heydar will be involved in arranging entertainment for those visiting and the nations Lake Palace will be used for accommodating VIP representatives. Prince Heydar stated, "It is essential people see our nation in a positive light, I full intend to make sure our famous hospitality lives up to its reputation and people get to see some of the real Seleucid." |
