The idea is a simple one; the Grey Fox has set his minions a challenge. The challenge is this; whoever can pull of the most daring, the most innovative and the most rewarding theft will be awarded with his cowl and become head of the thieves guild. It won't be easy, but dozens of thieves are already flocking to the call, each eager to prove their worth as a thief. Only the most cunning, most conniving, most contrived and clever thief will come out on top. Could it be you?

Alright, you know the premise, and now for da rules.

You can:

Make alliances with other thieves-if everyone goes around by themselves then it won't really be very good, would it?
Use magic and have mage style characters-not everybody uses magic for legitimate means, after all.
Character control- BUT only with the other writer's permission, and preferably only to a fairly small extent.
Use pretty much any race or class in the TES games, as well as some of the more exotic ones, but nothing silly like a Tsaeci please.

You cannot:

Uber your character-this one's fairly obvious.
Post up a character without PMing me first about him/her-that's just common courtesy.
Post posts made up of just one line
Use super weapons/equipment-an amulet providing temporary invisibility or something like that is fine. Something giving them permanent, 100% chameleon or something like that is not.
Be the Grey Fox in disguise-if you do I will fetch my motivation stick and do things with it that are very, very illegal

And for the character sheet, please use this format.

To get the ball rolling on the bios, here's mine.

Name: Iocus Magna
Nickname: Iocus (or possibly, 'Hey you! Where's my money!')
Race: Imperial
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Birthsign: The Lord

Focus: Personality
Class: Conman
Skills: Speechcraft, illusion, mercantile, general swindling

General Appearance: A fairly handsome man, no distinguishing scars or the like. Has a neatly trimmed moustache.
Eyes: Sky blue
Hair: Blond
Height: 5” 9'
Weight: 105 kg

Mental Description: Intelligent, quick thinking, manipulative and charming, Iocus is able to turn pretty much every situation to his advantage. He is able to fill many roles easily, switching between them without trouble; if it weren't for the fact that he was so drawn to a life of crime, he could have easily been an actor.

Clothing/equipment: A a smart white shirt and clean, well pressed trousers. He also carries a sabre, a weapon he views as one that is used only by the true gentleman.

Misc.: He hates heights.

Bio: Born in the Imperial City, Iocus was the son of a rich merchant and his wife. With a good education, Iocus soon proved to be adept at numbers and with an good eye for business. However, he never went down the path of legitimate business, instead opting for the ancient trade of tricking as much cash out of his fellow man, mer, orc or beast fold as he possible could. He does not dirty his hands by slipping into buildings and stealing all the valuable items; he will walk into the building with a disarming smile on his face and trick his way into getting what he wants. Whether he is forging a will, writing a false check or faking a signature, Iocus is always busy, scamming, tricking, defrauding and fooling anyone he possibly can.

Well... looks like it might just be the three of us here for a bit. Maybe more will follow. Anyway here's my character sheet, duly endorsed with the green bean stamp of approval.

========

Name: Laila Carmine
Nickname: none – her friends call her Laila, everyone else calls her Lady Carmine
Race: Imperial
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Birthsign: The Apprentice

Focus: Magic
Class: Yes, she’s got class alright!
Skills: Dabbles in all schools of magic, but particularly adept in illusion and alteration (handy for er… getting into her house when she’s lost her keys.)

General Appearance: Well dressed, elegant, extremely ladylike.
Eyes: Soft grey-blue
Hair: Dark brown shoulder length hair
Height: 5’8”
Weight: None of your business – but she looks quite slim and athletic

Mental Description: Intelligent. Has a relaxed and humorous outlook on life. Doesn’t take too many things very seriously and generally has fun no matter what happens.

Clothing/equipment: Varies, but her favourite outfit is an an exquisite dress in grey-blue silk with matching robe and grey shoes of soft leather. This is usually accompanied with an exquisite gold necklace set with a large teardrop shaped sapphire (which used to belong to her mother).

Bio: Lady Carmine inherited an immense fortune at the age of 23 when her parents died while travelling to Morrowind on business. She lives alone in a large house in the Imperial City, and is known and admired for helping various orphanages and other charities. What very few know is that she entertains herself by “relocating” valuable items. She obviously has no need of the money. But she takes great pleasure in relieving the pompous and wealthy of possessions that they seem to value more highly than courtesy or compassion.

OOC: Slinkie - well... being of the female persuasion myself, I only ever RP female characters. I really would have no idea how to RP a male. I should probably try though. If I ever want to write a story, I guess I should know how to write about male characters too.

XD Bean. I truly laughed out loud at the irony of that - an OOC to tell us we don't need to OOC. :applause:

King of Thieves

Iocus gave a smile of professional satisfaction as he finished the signature that would secure him twenty thousand septims worth of weapons. He neatly folded the letter and slid it into his pocket, before deciding to treat himself to one the Tiber Septim Hotel's famous brandies.

After he had ordered his drink off of a rather attractive young dunmer waitress, Iocus set into a sweetroll. As he was halfway through the pastry, his drink arrived.

"Excuse me sir," the waitress said. "But I was asked to deliver this note to you."

Iocus picked up the piece of paper, to see two words written on it; "Shanta hadhuul."

Iocus stared at the words on the paper, pondering the meaning of the strange language but guessing that it could be Ayleid or Dwemer. He murmured the words, and then with a start noticed as the neat script set itself ablaze. And it burned through the page, the paper remained intact, but with new script upon it. So it had been a password-ingenious.

He read the letter. And then he read it again. Then Iocus finished off his drink and hurried out of the inn to find an old friend of his.

OOC: Iocus is going to see Lady Carmine, and the writing on the note is Ayleid for "High King" if you want to know.

Kalen walked through the streets of the market place, this was the easiest place for his profession, being a swiper and all.

He walked into a guard and quickly grabbed at his coin purse and lifted it out. He enjoyed challenges and you could not get more of a challenge then from the guards, who most pickpockets would stay away from, But he was a swiper, the best of the best.

Kalen continued to walk down the road when he saw a copy of the Black Hourse courier lieing on the road. He kicked it, wishing not to hear the news, he then looked up to be confronted by a Dunmer lady.

"I recieved this note from someone, it is for you." She said before handing him the note and running away. Kalen opened the note and hoped for it to be from the guild. But to no avail. It was merely a piece of parchment with the words "Shanta hadhuul" written upon it.

Laila smiled with satisfaction as she stepped through the doorway and into the cool interior of her elegant home. As she slowly removed her blue silk gloves and placed them neatly on the cherrywood sideboard in the entrance way, she mentally replayed the conversation with Lord Pomadil. Or Lord Pompous Dill as she peferred to think of him.

To the small group of dinner guests, he had exclaimed melodramatically about the horror of losing his most precious collection of 'absolutely priceless' jade statues. From the tortured expression on his face, it seemed as if this was a worse situation than someone stealing his first born son. Although considering the unattractive appearance and foppish behaviour of young Arlen Pomadil, Laila thought that perhaps his father was right for once.

Although she had made appropriate mutterings of "how awful" and "oh yes, that's terrible" along with the others, she had meant not a word of it. It was impossible to feel sympathy for the man. The value of the statues - perhaps ten or twenty thousand septims - was a pittance compared to his overall wealth. As he mewled piteously about his loss, his guests supped on the rarest meats and seafoods, eaten off the finest gold plates, while being attended by a bevy of highly paid servants. Even the table at which they sat, carved as it was from a single piece of exquisite marble, was easily worth more than the statues. Yet when she had asked him last month to make a donation of a few thousand septims for the Imperial Cross Orphanage to buy new blankets and warm clothes, he had mumbled something about poor cash flows and tight times and handed her a mere few hundred.

Of course, the other reason she had no sympathy for the man was that his statues were currently safely stowed in her hidden cellar. Her unexpected midnight visit to the Lord's mansion had gone without a hitch. His security was no match for her skills in Alteration and Illusion. She had slipped in, unlocked the display case and left with the statues all within a few minutes. Now she would sell them for half their value to her contact, who would exchange discretion and secrecy for a bargain price. They would eventually find there way to some collector far from the Imperial City, who would gleefully accept them without asking difficult questions. Meanwhile, the orphanage would have plenty of blankets and fine quality warm clothes.
