I've finally released my Abandoned Mountain Shack mod for Oblivion. It's a very different kind of house mod. The basic premise is a fellow left on a quest, was killed, so never returned. His home is your's if you want it, but it's in pretty bad shape. There are logs, boulders, and other debris strewn around and things are becoming overgrown with vines. Inside, the lights and stoves burned out long ago, there are spider webs everywhere, there's a big hole in the floor--there's more, but you get the idea. What's different is everything is fixable by the player. Vines can be torn down, broken things can be repaired, dirty things can be washed, and so forth. There are some significant bonuses once you fix things up. Also, the house is an exterior home. That is, the "interior" is part of the exterior world. So you can see out of and in through the windows and to go inside you just open the door and walk in. I spent an unreasonable amount of time on this mod--there's more than 60 MB (uncompressed) of new content, but wasn't sure how much fun it would be. I'm gratified that is has been very well received. Shezrie of Oblivion's Real Estate says it's the best house mod ever! It's been out for about three days now and has received 10 ratings so far--all 10.0! If you want to find out more, including lots of screen shots, see: Abandoned Mountain Shack at TES Nexus Ok, one screen shot. About the only thing you don't have to fix is the privy. ![]()

This sounds interesting, Vince. I like exterior houses. It looks from the foliage that this mod is in Oblivion and the mention of Shezrie at Oblivion Real Estate confirms that; but if I were you I would distinctly mention at the post beginning or even in the title that this is an Oblivion mod as opposed to a Morrowind mod. And a link to your Nexus download link would be a good idea, to make it super easy for people who want to download your house without having to research to find it.

Ibis, 'Glad to hear from you. Well, it looks like a wash: 1 for you and 1 for me. Your suggestion of an explicit reference that it's an Oblvion, rather than Morrowind, mod is a good idea. I forget that the bulk of the mods here are for Morrowind. I will edit my post to implement your suggestion. Your suggestion of a link to the TES Nexus download site is a good idea too. If you check my post, you will see that the bright orange text at the end of the last line is the link to the download site at TES Nexus--exactly as you suggested. I'm a bit surprised that you missed it. ![]() Take care, Vince |

I did miss the link; for some reason it is not bright orange on my page .. probably because I am using Dust Storm forum skin. But I have downloaded it now, even though I don't have Oblivion installed at present. It looks absolutely astounding from the screenshots. I can't believe that you've made such a realistic exterior house. The windows are just wonderful .. did you model them yourself? I'll see if I can get the husband to play this right away on his computer so I can get to see it. I actually don't have room for Oblivion right now on my hard drives. Playing too many online games I guess. lol |

Ibis, I hope you get a chance to play it. Yes, I modeled everything except the few items from vanilla Oblivion. |
