Yay!

I've never really gotten far in Arena. Either too lazy or way too lazy.

I downloaded it and died too :D

Started again with a warrior build and managed to actually leave the dungeon. I started Arena too but gave up when I got lost wandering around a town :P

Dammit, Vanir...... I had an awesome daydream of me and Anne Hathaway on a private island. And then in the daydream you came in and murdered her, then asking for my hand in marriage.

I went through really fast and didn't pay attention to what I was doing. I just wanted to play real quick before going to bed.

Yea. At character gen, when you are asked questions, there is one question where the option is an ebony dagger.

I just pick the weapons and armour that have the highest stats, I have no idea what they are.

On the plus side, it is remarkably easier than Arena.

Yeah, don't. You can understand the story much better by reading about it. I think I've only ever gotten out of the starter dungeon once, and I was lucky at that.

Tips for anyone just beginning...I guess...that's what this post turned into, heh.

*It's much easier once you get out of the dungeon...I always rush out of there as quickly as possible. It's also a lot easier if you answer the questions when creating character and choose the dagger (as others have said). My version doesn't allow me to get the dagger, but I know the game so it's O.K...

*In the beginning you can get critical weakness to disease and paralysis. Choose Summerset Isle as your province and it will counteract the paralysis weakness with immunity. Disease is OK since it doesn't affect you too badly in the long run and lets you pick more bonuses. Poison and Shock are also O.K. if you're a bit more daring.
I also usually choose "take damage in holy places" since it's not bad. Just don't enter temples; the mage's guild is just fine! :P Also forbid certain equipment types that you'll never really use...like a tower shield, if you're using a mage or archer. There's some others but I can't remember them right at the moment.

*Magery is pretty important. The last dungeons can be nearly impossible without levitate OR some very accurate - insane climbing/jumping skills(I'm talking player skill here). Climbing itself is OK if you don't progress too far into the game, but if you want to -complete- it...please consider the levitate spell. It can save you from losing your hair (ripping it out, that is).

*If you're a werewolf or wereboar, town guards can't hurt you because you're immune to normal weapons...if you're NOT a werewolf, they can knock you out in one hit! Just a forewarning. Oh, they also drop a lot of loot, like any humanoid enemy(although nightblades & assassins are my favorite for looting).

*Certain quests can have you attacked at unexpected times. Read what you're about to accept as a task carefully, so you aren't too surprised when an arrow comes flying out of nowhere, or you're attacked in your sleep.

*There are MODS for this game, although not even near as many as for Morrowind/Oblivion. There's some here: http://www.svatopluk.com/daggerfall/mods/

*Bow is an absolutely awesome weapon in this game. Yes, the arrows have a bit of weight, but it's worth it. Longblades are also good, since they're quite easy to find and are quite effective. Axes are the *most rare weapons to find*, so it is challenging to start with them.

*The Skull of Corruption is insanely fun. Try to use it at some point or another (repeatedly, for maximum fun factor; preferably on guards...HALT HALTHALT HALT!!).

*Moving the mouse different ways has different attacks (you probably already noticed). When you move the mouse straight up, it will to a stab/lunge/whatever you want to call it. This is the most -accurate- attack, but it does the least damage. If you're having trouble hitting a monster, try using this one. The slash, moving mouse sideways, does the most amount of damage. There's also a diagonal slash, if I recall...it's basically a clone of the normal slash, with a tiny bit less damage (hardly noticeable).

*If you have Daggerfall questions, send them my way.
