I wasn't saying that God would be cheating. I was saying that it would be cheating for us, which really doesn't make sense, so disregard that.

In the beginning, however, we were perfect, created in God's own image. We brought flaws upon ourselves by disregarding God's will. As for the system of weeding out, he gives us free will. No one is inherently bad, and he gives us the chance to prove that we can be good. His system of weeding out is more of a way of bringing him the people that are able to rise up above the people who would rather 'loot and pillage' than help the weak, so to speak.

Dammit, Vanir...... I had an awesome daydream of me and Anne Hathaway on a private island. And then in the daydream you came in and murdered her, then asking for my hand in marriage.

You really can't provide evidence against the existence of God

Another quote applies well here:

"absence of evidence is evidence of absence"

If there is no evidence to prove something is real then there is no reason to accept that it is.

If we were perfect how could we have disregarded god's will?

Because he gave us free will, as I've already said. And I strongly feel that lack of evidence cannot be used as evidence.

I can not disprove: Budhaism, islam, jeudaism, christanity or a few thousand pagan religions.

Though I can see no reason to beleive in any.

Actually, James, the quote is "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." When Einstein first proposed General Relativity, there was no evidence to prove it's voracity. However, that didn't mean it wasn't true. That said, this does not mean the quote favors God since it refers to science, and science only comments on the natural. Science cannot be used to prove or disprove the supernatural, a.k.a. God.

Quote:

Because he gave us free will...

Would that not be a flaw? If humans used free will to turn to evil, then free will is a flaw. Yes, the perfect people would be servants, slaves. The perfect people would do whatever God desired without question. That doesn't sound very fun, does it? Perfection is very, very boring.

oops, my bad.

Though my point still stands:

If there is no reason to accept something as fact then it should not be treated as such.

And that boredom is a flaw. It really depends on how you look at it, really. I tend to see being able to control myself as a great boon rather than a bane.

And james, that's your choice. I find reason to accept it as fact, whether you do or not does not affect my decision. I find there to be no reason to not believe something just because it can't be proven. I can't prove that I didn't hide that girl's cellphone, but I don't think I should I should admit to it just for that reason.

That it does. The logic of pattern recognition works wonders here. In the past, many things attributed to God have since been shown to have natural origins. Every scientific paper published pushes God further and further into the gaps. So, it can be easily assumed that all of our other unknowns have some natural origin as well. Of course, this is an assumption, but it's one based in logic.

So you say, so you say. Yes, you are correct. Boredom is a flaw, and thus Heaven would be boring. But how can it be so? Heaven is perfect, isn't it? Here's the clincher: perfection doesn't exist. Perfection can't exist. There is always something better. Example:
Right now, processors can work up to around 4.0GHz. That could be better, though. We could make them 4.1GHz, or 4.2GHz. We can keep making that number higher, and higher but there will always be a bigger number. Eventually, we get into infinite regress, ∞GHz. Of course, infinity is undefined; it's a logical impossibility. Perfection is impossible.

Okay, I misspoke. You're right, perfection is impossible. I'm also done arguing this as I can't come up with anything to argue further.

All I will say is that faith can not be explained through logic, and an attempt to do so is futile.

I'll miss it too, but I honestly am burned out. Maybe it's just the time, I might be refreshed in the morning, but probably not. Rest assured if I think of something, anything, I will post it.

Wow. This has made me rethink everything I have been taught in my time growing up in the Bible Belt. Ninja you really do make extremely valid points. I've said this to friends before: If I see some proof I will believe, but until then, I will not.
