Just a wish...; a wish for abandoned mods out there

Ok, so I am grumpy, but I know that I'm not the only one. There are mods all over out there that for one reason or another, are abandoned, or no longer being supported by the mod authors. Some of them are still very popular, and work mostly well, but could be so much better and easier to use. I know that real life is what it is, and that the authors of these mods may not have a choice. Some even communicate that, and give permission for others to take them over, while some don't communicate at all.

I have two mods that give me headaches, one I am not currently using because it's such a pita, and one I currently use that has now become another pita. Both are abandoned, and sometimes other kind users try to help. That doesn't always work out though, and there is much frustration. Both mods work, but not the way they could, or should.

My wish is, that some talented modder would see mods like these as an opportunity, take them over and fix/update them. I know I'm probably dreaming, but hey, dreams can be good.

I know someone will ask, so the two mods in question are Better Males and Dimonized UNP. I don't only wish for these to be taken care of, but there are a lot of other mods that could benefit from some help too.

That's my wish, now I'll shut up.

They both could do with some updates.. which is the reason I use them, then overwrite with the meshes I like...cause they are both great...but.

Uh. What's the issue with Dimon's UNP? I'm not having any problems with it.

I guess.....skyrim is old news.....people lose interest and move on....even mod authors!

Dimon99 has a message up on his unp header page.

After using it for nearly 2 years, I'm tired of seeing no pubic hair. So, following the readme instructions (which are basically the same for the Better Males body hair options) I did exactly what it said. Still bare. Tried everything I could think of, but what's probably the case is that there is something the author assumes everyone knows, so I'm likely missing something. I got Better Males body hair options to work, on the sundracon meshes, but the same way did not work on the favored soul meshes.

Both mods say to install the options the same way, but I, and others, cannot get them to work. So I'm thinking wtf?

I've seen so many mods that were abandoned because the authors couldn't work out the bugs, or one of many other reasons. It sucks. If I had more knowledge, I'd work on some of them myself.

... What the hell is going on here? Talking of pubic hair and stuff :glare:

Anyway... Yeah, there are some *really* good mods that have been (unfortunately) abandoned. If I knew something about modding, I'd probably jump right into it but, alas, I know nothing!

I looked a Adryannia, who of course has a Dimonized base... she has pubic hair... with Pride of Valhalla and Battlehardened UNP... neither of which say's it add's that....

I can't see a second download...unless it doesn't show. but it IS an older version 1.2/ something. I can't actually find it in my folders, but I know it's somewhere. I looked in the files that you had listed on Nexus, but I don't even have those files... then again, I probably installed something wrong.

When I originally downloaded UNP, it was all separated files. So that was the one I chose, and that option stayed throughout every update. Now that I want to change it, the process is different, and some of the old files are there, but some aren't. Really, I'd rather have the updated version with a better way to choose options, like an installer, but if I can't figure it out, I'll still take the updated version.

Well if you can't get it to work.. their is always one of these

Pubic hair overlays

this one look's a bit better...texture wise

Arm Pit and Pubic hair

I hate updating and with the data restriction's I don't unless their is a really good reason to.

Public hair in most cases is done with texture - I use the Fair Skin Complexion texture mod, that has an installer and of course an option for the female body texture to have pubic hair.

However there are a few mods that do this separately from the female body texture, using specific meshes and textures for the public hair, some having varying results.

Little bit hesitant to link these, since both of the mods I know will work, are on LL. One of them adds a new slider to the "Hair" tab of the character creation menu, and the other is an SOS add-on that will work for the player and NPCs(though I'm not sure about it working for males, since that slot would obviously be otherwise occupied), and it has Bodyslide files to generate meshes for whatever body shape is needed.

Yeah.... Max I just looked at my stuff - it's the Fair Skin Complexion mod with the installer that adds the pubic hair. And it also whacks the most egregious neck seam issues.....

I use an equippable option with a mesh, but it's disappeared from the Nexus. The downside was that some outfits were tight enough for clipping, and didn't replace the body slot, which required manual intervention to unequip. There was also an issue with NPC's wearing the hair colour of the player, but I fixed that by replacing the script.

I should maybe try and contact the original author for permission to take over.

Thanks Areial, I had already check out that first one, but I want a 'natural' look, so that won't do. The second would work, but I don't want pit hair, LOL. I know, I'm picky....

I'll keep looking and check out the LL site.

Thanks everyone!

ghastley, I wish I knew how to do that stuff! :) But I don't yet.

Here are the links to the two mods I mentioned - although I'll just say the obvious, in hopes that is enough to not be a problem, which is that both pages contain nudity.

SOS Addon - Pubic Hair For Females

The Painted Lady REDONE

Thanks Max! Nah, no problem with nudity, I'm already a member of LL. :)
