On my first playthrough as a mage, the Mage's Guild being the first thing I did, I encountered the King of Worms at around lvl 6-8. He ran around a lot but I bulldozed him easily. Twas quite disappointing. At the low level he just didn't have the spell capability. Then I met Mankar Camoran at lvl 20 and he melted my face five times before I beat him. Contrast that with my current playthrough where I just stomped Mankar at lvl 8. So in your experience, how tough is Mannimarco at lvl 20? :beermug: |

God that takes me back. Well Vulnavia was a high level battlemage by the time she reached him....since he was not her primary quest... She had the best defences I could build and he was still pretty dangerous, he uses high level summons too......but paralyse stopped him iirc and then he died with a few good hits. I remember his little underground island surrounded by bone fingers quite well. Hannibal Traven's sacrifice to protect you in your meeting was always a tear jerker. |

That's what I was thinking. Magic can be so complex in Oblivion I'm actually looking forward to seeing what he'll throw at me. |

Mannimarco's not really supposed to be tough, as you just side-stepped his devastating main weapon. He doesn't have a plan B. |

He's certainly supposed to be tough, he's the King of Worms! This topic came to mind a while back while playing my Blademage character. It made me wonder, based on how tough wraiths could be at level 20. I've had wraiths hit me with burden, so I couldn't move; then silence, so I couldn't cast; then various drain attribute spells. I was really impressed with the variety of magic that high level casters had at their disposal, so I figured Mannimarco himself would be particularly dangerous at lvl 20. I'm doing something similar with Umaril; I'm leveling to 20 before fighting either of these guys this time. Currently lvl 12, so I'll be wandering, clearing random dungeons for awhile. :beermug: |

Well, what a joke this turned out to be. Level 21. I tried twice, both times Mannimarco was glitched. There was no way to hit him; all weapons and spells passed harmlessly through him including the attacks of my frost atronach. He could, however, hurt himself by way of my reflect spell enchantments. So there I was, standing with my Shield of the Crusader held before me whilst the King of Worms ineffectually peppered it with dagger attacks and the occasional spell for about 10 minutes before finally succumbing to his own arcane abilities. The first time around he fell into the water and actually drowned... Not the legendary battle I had hoped for. Faded wraiths use a greater variety of spells it seems. |

He was the King of Worms, but got demoted back from Minor Daedric Prince, or whatever he became, in the aftermath of the Warp in the West. The Oblivion instance is less powerful than the Daggerfall one because he's left part of himself behind powering the Shade of the Revenant. He was a full Lich then, but he's been forced back to a mortal life by the Jills of Akatosh, and has to work his way up again. I've visited him with a fully-reflective player character. A small Breton mage who'd got to the point where she only wore a few heavily-enchanted items of jewellery, and carried the Escutcheon of Chorrol, which wasn't used because she never had a weapon with it. It still gave her its full enchantment. She resisted 100% magical attacks, and reflected 105% of physical ones. Only archers worried her, and they got fire-balled fast. I found it interesting in his dialog when he inferred that he'd thralled Galerion. Isn't that the very founder of the mages guild? |

After playing Skyrim for so long, it's still weird to me that level 20 is considered a high level in Oblivion. |
