I mentioned in the Oblivion thread on horses that I preferred to ride bears. This thread is to avoid going too far off-topic there. Bear Rider in Skyrim Posted Image She's an NPC, made to test patrolling on a bear, and she's in Falkreath, at one end of her patrol. I'd made a mod for Oblivion, with a number of quests based around a cadre of bear riders in the Jerall Mountains, where the ice and snow suited them better than horses. It had a whole lot of psuedo-lore to explain the outfits they wore, which were really just to match(?) one from a Schnapps ad that gave me the whole idea. The riders were mostly Nords, but there was one Dunmer, and one Redguard (adjacent provinces to Skyrim). I started making a continuation mod for Skyrim, but hit some problems that have stopped it from being released. One was getting the riders to stay with their bears, and the other big one was a lack of voice acting. I still fiddle with it from time to time, and some of my player characters will get the urge to ride a bear, and I'll add it into their games. The headquarters for the Bear Riders is just where the trail to Southfringe Sanctum leaves the road that goes to the border with Cyrodiil. I adapted a tavern, and put a forge in the basement, which is the only place you can make a Rider outfit. There are rooms down there for the Riders, just like in the Oblivion mod, with similar furnishings, and plush bears. You didn't have to build the place yourself. I hadn't started doing Hearthfires stuff at that time. That came about when I wanted to create quests without new dialog, and discovered how to use couriers. |

I'm getting ready to walk out the door to work...but as I check back and forth...short answers... If you give me some lines...I'll record them... not promising the quality though, as I really don't have a super good microphone. |

The problem I found was that I wanted to add lines to existing characters for this mod. And that means finding someone who sounds convincing like the original VA. Unna and Gunilla are brand-new NPC's, but the extra dialog for recruits was the deal-breaker, as there would be so many possible candidates. I'm getting better at finding and re-using existing dialog, so it may come back to feasible again on that front. However, I still have the rider/bear pairing issues to sort out, which is a scripting job. But if you do a good Orc voice, I may need a Wise Woman soon ... Her name is Yarob the Awesome, but you can just call her "Awesome". |

Well, not sure about my interest in bear riders - but is that going to be the wise woman for Orc HF?? OOOOO I hope so! |
