I keep meaning to download the CK and poke around, but I never remember when I'm actually on my computer. Need to write myself a reminder or something. |

Write it backwards on a sticky and place on forehead. That way when you look in a mirror or see it in the reflection from your monitor you'll be reminded! :lmao: |

It's really nice looking, Andra. A lovely sort of forested setting, but... that doesn't match well with my personal view of Whiterun. I've always seen it as being styled after the "Riddermark", centered in tundra and plains with little or no forest either in or nearby around it. Because of that I see nothing odd in the (almost) complete absence of trees in Whiterun, and the presence of trees seems exceedingly strange to me... :) |

Depends on which character one is talking to.. some think Tundra... barren.. others think... Huh.. people planted tree's.. and still others.. love what ever it is they have. I think Grassy Tundra... just.. haven't found a grass mod I really like, that I think look's like tundra.. .not prairie. ...then again.. I plan on a Horse Nomad...and Prairie grass will suite perfectly. |

Hey, each to their own neil. :D I was just showing Kane a couple of shots, he asked about a previous pic. I'm like Areial, I rp that they were planted. :) |

I didn't mean to imply that it was bad, or not appropriate, just that it doesn't suit my own personal view of whiterun. Like I say, I've always thought Whiterun was modeled after the Riddermark from the Lord of the Rings, and check it out: Posted Image Does that not look like Whiterun with the Throat of the World just behind it? |

A bit yes, and people have accused beth of "stealing" Tolkien's work and what'shisname's movie version forever now. *shrug* I prefer to keep my fantasies in separate "pockets" - so whatever Tolkien and what'shisname came up with doesn't ever affect Skyrim in my mind. |

Obviously Tolkein's Eriador, the movie version of Eriador, and Skyrim are three entirely different places... when considered as a whole. However, when a particular view evokes an uncontrolled "deja vu" experience, I tend to pay attention. I can stuff it in any pocket I want to, but one will invariably make me think of the other from that moment on. |

I guess my "pockets" are "deeper". I don't ever look at Whiterun in game and automagically flash to LotR. Yep, Areial, we're set to watch it all again starting Christmas Eve, one movie a night - I could watch all three backtobacktoback but husband can't (he falls asleep). We'll have goose on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Tree Bread really early Christmas morning, then brunch will be Eggs Benedict. We nibble in the afternoon - chips, dip, deli meat and cheese.... and then champagne during the movie. And then the next day, leftovers and the last movie. Yeah yeah.... I gain a bunch of weight. It's okay, I take care of that in January. |

No worries neil, I didn't think you were saying it was bad. :D Everybody likes different things, was allI was saying. And I adore the LoTR, both the books that I have read uncounted times, and the movies, watched uncounted times too. I love the tundra, but also like the trees in Whiterun, like a green sancuary that one loves, but also loves to leave, if that makes sense. :) |

Andra...One of my very favorite places to read, think, dream and be alone.. when I was a teen was a hollow.. old ( 500 to 800 yr's old) "Southern Oaks" surrounded it and made the perfect "roosts" , the light was a filtered green, that fairly dripped Spanish moss.. even on the hottest of summer days, it was a cool spot. The "pond" at the bottom was a sink hole, the water so filled with tannin and decayed leaves it was black ( not ewww black..) I loved spending hours there...but as soon as it headed toward sunset.. I was happy to leave. Funny thing is.. no one else ever went there.. and a few of the friends that I took, never wanted to go back, said it was spooky.. |

Eh, Areial.... that resonates. We lived in the swamps of south Texas - I think I was about 6. There was a bayou behind the house.... I used to go out there to a cypress stump. I saw fairies and goblins and gremlins there. I'd go home and tell mom what I saw and of course she was first upset that I was out in the bayou, and second disturbed that I thought all that was real.... Well.... it was real to me.... That was the house with the extra shower in the basement. Where the scorpion crawled out of the drain. And where the ditch by the road had a water moccasin family.... I'm just a very... intuitive?...type of person I guess. I function on autopilot for much of the time, without giving a lot of things any logical consideration. I establish viewpoints and opinions without much conscious thought, though usually in hindsight, it's fairly obvious how I arrived at those views. If I see a place that reminds me of some other place, the two will always and forever be associated in one fashion or another in my mind with no actual conscious thought. That's just my nature, and really it prevents me from worrying about a lot of completely irrelevant thoughts. Although... I wonder about very off the norm things. For instance, suppose Christ had been born in the afternoon. Would we have a song that goes "Si-i-lent afternoon, Ho-o-ly after noon, merchant's tout wares like lunatic loons..." Or maybe the "The first Noel, was hardly visible in the bright sunlight... but shepherds were frightened anyway..." I mean just think how different many things would be with just small differences of time or place... Y'know, it's funny about weight. My doctor doesn't seem to give a damn about how heavy I might get, but let me lose a few pounds and he's all over it like a mutt with a new bone. "How's your appetite?" "What kinds of foods are you eating?" "Are you still enjoying dessert?" Hmmm... and his ears kinda perk forward, like a chihuahua who scents a tom cat twice his size... |

Sere....What a child see's in the innocence of life, will never match what the adult mind see's no matter how open. We are told "Their is no such thing".. and sooner or later we start to believe... or is that dis-believe. Edited by Areial, Dec 13 2016, 11:56 PM.

Um. Almost nothing codified in song and story about Christianity's Messiah is anywhere close to the truth. All of it was maneuvered around currently existing beliefs in order to expand on a "new" belief-state. In general, it's likely Jesus was born in April. And "maybe" there was a very obvious comet about that same time. The weight thing.... My docs have always got weird about my weight. I've been VERY heavy at points in the past. I had to lose 30 pounds when I quit working in 2005 - so I did Nutrisystem for 6 months. Doc was happy I lost the weight, but NOT happy I hadn't done it with exercise. Oh.... bite me. I DO NOT DO exercise. Almost three years ago, I had to look at the 20 pounds I'd gained over about eight years, and deal with it. Nutrisystem. Lost that 20 pounds in 3 months. And I've kept it off since. And in fact, I've got to the point this year where I have to actively force a change in my eating habits to maintain weight. The things I personally love to eat - husband's not much interested in. I can't justify cooking stuff just for me.... I've resorted to buying Costco's croissants to eat for breakfast.... |

Areial, we had a place similar, an old, long long abandoned quarry. Nature had completey taken it over. During summertime daylight hours, it was a party place. At might, no way, only me and a very few enjoyed it. With a great big fire to keep the spookies away!! :lmao: :'( It was pretty, and peaceful though, if one got there early. (before noon, lol) It will always be associated with my childhood, as will that whole area, not far from the Little Meramac river. Edited by Andra Hawksdaughter, Dec 14 2016, 01:09 AM.
