If steam catches someone "logging in as you" you're in trouble....
Yeah, I suspect that would be a good way to kiss all of your Steam games goodbye.
Exactly. Now, I'm not really a fan of steam, but I DO love Skyrim. So.... that's not an option!

I'm pretty sure there's a way to install a game to your steam library as if you downloaded it yourself.

I have the game already downloaded and installed. Just zip that up, throw it on a thumb drive, GTG.

Though for anyone else that doesn't have it, I could see that being a fuss.

As a side note, I bought two thumb drives before I moved here, and I can't find either one of them.

Oh, yeah, if I had it on a stick or external drive of some kind, it would work just like installing Skyrim from the CD in the LE box.

As an aside, I have an issue post installing SkyUI and SKSE64.

When I go to the save menu it does some odd stuff. Like repeatedly make that knocking sound it makes when you save the game. And the save list constantly refreshing itself. Making that sound every time.

Ugh. It's annoying enough to almost want to uninstall.

Well, after losing Goldie, and setting out to reinstall Skyrim LE, I decided the thing to do was to give the SSE SKSE64 a try. Everybody seemed happy with it...

Unfortunately, after I installed it I couldn't get SSE to load beyond the logo screen. Oh noes, not loading at all. Couldn't even make the SKSE64 loader work. Message says "this ap won't run on your PC"...

Tried to get rid of it, but it had overwritten files in the Data folder, and they were not distinguishable from the original files, and in any case I no longer had the original files to go back to.

The result? After spending a couple of hours uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim LE, I had to uninstall and reinstall Skyrim SSE. I had a backup created for both files actually, but the folder containing them has apparently vanished into the ether. Well, you win some and you lose some...

Speaking of losing some, that means that (since I had removed all of my saves from FO4 previously) Nothing has joined Goldie in that Great Cyber Beyond... she is gone.

Could I recreate her? Possibly, but it would never be the same, and in any case she had nearly completed both FO4 and Skyrim storylines, so it would end up being ridiculous.

Well, that leaves me with Tatoomy, who isn't actually a character... but I'm thinking perhaps he should be. I dunno yet, I'm kinda still in shock, but as long as he's not actually a character he's not in danger of getting FUBARed like Nothing did, eh?

Ouch.... I can mail you a stick with my backup install of SSE (a vanilla one at that) and LE too (also vanilla).

Ditto what Kane said! I will miss her stories, but I've been there.

I've got it reinstalled now (although with no mods as of yet except the ones Steam insisted on putting back when I fired the game up to refresh the.ini) so I'm just going to make backups of the fresh installs. I think what happened is that my backups were on a hard drive that went tits-up a while back.

That happens! I do have a couple of seriously old drives (with an entire setup of win7 plus all my programs and data on them) - like 8 or 9 years old now. I bet they don't work.... and I don't have any way to check them out - because the new machine doesn't have the old-style connections....

Well that sucks.

And the only thing that should have gone in the data folder was a folder called "scripts".

Well, that's interesting.

I also thought it intereswting that the "read me" and "what's new" were both blank.

You are allowed to have your Steam games on multiple computers. I have got them on my laptop and on my desktop. Steam has no way of knowing who is actually playing the game, and I don't think Steam even cares who is playing your game as long as only one instance of a Steam game is running at any given time. So, for instance, you can let your wife or friend play your copy of Skyrim but you cannot play it while they are playing. If you try playing/downloading your steam games on two different computers at the same time then I am sure they can track that and you would get in trouble.

I am also pretty sure people can have different Steam installations for different people on the same shared computer, although I have never done that myself.

But I suspect downloading to one computer and then copying it to another computer without actually downloading and installing it on the second computer would cause an issue.

There's a way to do it, Sere's done it before iirc.

Not everyone has the bandwidth to keep redownloading games and I'm pretty sure she's installed it from thumb drive before.

Then there's this: How do I move Steam games to a new computer without re-downloading them?

If it wouldn't run me 10 bucks just in postage I'd send her BGII:EE.

Wow. I was just downloading some updated SSE mods for future use when I saw that new versions of SkyTEST require Creation Club Survival Mode.

Huwhat. Guess I'm stuck with my old, unsupported version of SkyTEST.

Tell me about it. I have no interest in Survival mode for Skyrim. Fallout is different because it's about survival, but it doesn't work for me in the TES world.
