I'm thinking of posting a warning about the competition and see if we can't get more people to join us...

Post...away...we need more players...but let's get the next competition set 1st... I'm all for everyone having a say, but new peeps may not get the way we play, next round, if they stick around is soon enough to have a say.

No point to me voting, Richard - since I don't have a competitive bone in my body. Talk about a way to totally ruin a game for me....

But, you still can voice your opinion about posting links to bring in new people. ..competition is just the reason for the links.

Well that's an opinion... You'd prefer Haven to stay small with a good group of people that don't bicker constantly ( except good in good nature) .... ok so I'm inferring the last part...

And that's fine.. if no one else voice an opinion one way or the other, your's would be their also. I'd much prefer people learned word of mouth by a friend... I invited the only friend I know that might have been interested...he was...and is now here.

Yeah, small and quiet is good for the "close family" of the board. On the other side, big and loud works better for competitions. :)

Does this board software support "closed invitation-only" subforums? It seems to me that, if so, the competitions could be run in a more "public" area, with a "back room" for those who seek the calmness of being among friends.

I don't know. Kane probably does - he's poked around more with that sort of thing than I have. It may be something that's handled through "group permissions".

Were there a lot of people from the other forum who did the competitions when they were run over there? I never paid much attention....

People came and went, but most of the core group for the last 6 or 7 months are already here.

+1 Glargg,

Oddly....No one wanted Haven to be small and quiet when I last raised MY concern against an undiscerning open door policy to all and sundry eh!

Your idea seems a good compromise Glargg :)

Because...Although more competition entrants IS a good thing imo,
...Inviting everyone to join us without restriction or care will result in Bethsoft MK II imo....'Anti flame suit on' ;)

No reason we couldn't try and give them access to the comp thread only. Then we could weed out the undesirables.

What about the whole DiD area...cause it does have a few other things as well. Create a general topic or Questions thread.. keep all the questions to that thread ( DiD type Questions) Plus if others are interested have an Oblivion and FO DiD competition...

Then after a while IF that person want to they can become a full member with access everywhere ( almost) Not based on thread count...as it's to easy to just spam all the active and inactive threads with a one or two liner and get the count up... but people who will be good members.

Tis done. Upon a member approval, we'll add them into the 'Competition Participants' group, and they will be able to only view/read the announcement page or view/read/reply/start in the DiD section.
